Fortnite Exmarks Sprite reveals nearby Treasure Maps and Wanted Posters in Treasure Hunters. At maximum level, it also spawns a Treasure Map, making it a useful companion when you’re concentrating on the season’s buried treasure.

If you’ve been searching walls for posters or wandering around hoping to find another map, Exmarks gives that hunt some direction. Here’s how its abilities work and where to start looking for one.

What does Fortnite Exmarks Sprite do?

Exmarks highlights nearby Treasure Maps and Wanted Posters, and it spawns a Treasure Map when it reaches max level. These are two different benefits: one helps you spot clues already in the area; the other gives you a map through levelling.

It’s an early step in the treasure hunt. Wayfinder is geared towards locating nearby Sprites and getting bonus loot from buried Chests, while Exmarks helps you find the clues that lead you there.

The advantage is spotting a treasure clue you might otherwise miss while passing through a town. Keep an eye on your surroundings as you move towards it, especially if other players are looting nearby.

How to find Fortnite Exmarks Sprite

Look for a Wanted Poster on a wall and tear it down. Epic says this produces a Sprite Treasure Map, which points towards a buried Sprite Chest. Travel to the marked place, dig up the Chest and open it to collect your Sprite reward.

It’s a way of hunting for Sprites generally rather than a guaranteed Fortnite Exmarks Sprite location. Keep checking Sprite Chests as you explore; no particular Wanted Poster is identified by Epic as an Exmarks-only drop.

What happens when Fortnite Exmarks Sprite reaches max level?

When the Sprite reaches maximum level, it spawns a Treasure Map. That’s worth working towards if your plan is to keep searching for buried Chests. Epic hasn’t specified a repeat interval for this ability, so there’s no confirmed map-generation timer to follow.

Watch its level as you play and use the map it spawns to continue the hunt. It’s also worth checking the Sprites screen between matches if you’re working on the wider collection rather than just one round of treasure hunting.

For progression beyond one match, see our Sprite mastery guide. Treasure Hunters also numbers the Sprites on the collection screen and uses Sprite Stamps to show how you acquired each one. The View Info menu explains those stamps.

Best way to hunt treasure with Exmarks

Begin in places where there are walls to check for Wanted Posters. When Fortnite Exmarks Sprite reveals a lead, pick it up, follow the map and move towards the buried Chest. After collecting the reward, look for the next clue instead of repeatedly searching the same spot.

Fortnite Exmarks Sprite is best suited to players trying to grow their collection. If you’re more interested in where fights are happening, Halfpeel’d marks eliminations on the map and serves a different purpose.

What about Fortune and Cursed versions?

The Fortune effect is about finding Chests, while Cursed is aimed at increasing your chances of finding rare variants. Neither replaces the base Exmarks treasure-map ability.

Take care with Cursed when the route to a buried Chest crosses water. The main reason to use Fortnite Exmarks Sprite remains its ability to find treasure leads and earn a map when levelled up.
