Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite reveals nearby Sprites and adds extra loot when you open buried Chests in Treasure Hunters. If you’re working through the Sprite collection, that makes it a particularly useful companion to bring along.
Its two abilities work well together, but they do different jobs. One helps you locate Sprites in the area; the other rewards you for following treasure leads and opening buried Chests.
What does Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite do?
Wayfinder reveals nearby Sprites and spawns extra loot from Buried Chests. Epic lists both powers in the November 1 Treasure Hunters update, so you can use the Sprite for collecting companions as well as searching for loot.
The wording matters for the bonus loot: it applies to Buried Chests. Opening an ordinary Chest isn’t the same thing, and the announcement doesn’t give a fixed number or rarity for the extra items.

Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite is part of the Treasure Hunters collection. Official Epic Games Sprite roster artwork, not a screenshot of the detection markers.
If you’re spending a match collecting Sprites, keep Wayfinder equipped while you investigate the ones it reveals. When a Treasure Map takes you to a buried Chest, the bonus loot makes that detour more worthwhile.
How to find Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite
Look for Wanted Posters on walls around the island. Tear one down to receive a Sprite Treasure Map. Follow the directions to a buried Sprite Chest, uncover it and collect the Sprite inside.
This is the general Sprite-hunting route, not a guaranteed Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite location. There isn’t a specific Wanted Poster or named area that Epic identifies as an always-on Wayfinder spawn.
Our Treasure Hunters map guide covers the island’s locations, and the all-Sprite guide explains the companions you can find.
Which Chests give Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite bonus loot?
Buried Chests are different from the ordinary Chests you find while looting buildings. If a Sprite Treasure Map already points you towards buried treasure, that reward is worth prioritising while Wayfinder is equipped. The extra loot applies to the buried Chest, not everything you open along the way.
Keep the focus on those buried rewards rather than opening every ordinary Chest expecting the same bonus. The extra items are a reason to explore, not a guarantee that a particular weapon or Sprite will appear.
Wayfinder versus Exmarks: which is better?
Exmarks reveals nearby Treasure Maps and Wanted Posters, then spawns a map at maximum level. Wayfinder reveals Sprites and spawns extra loot from buried Chests. Choose Exmarks if you need help finding the clues; choose Wayfinder when finding Sprites and collecting the Chest rewards is your priority.
If you’re still looking for a treasure lead, our Exmarks Sprite guide covers the poster-finding ability. Wayfinder is more useful when collecting Sprites and following the treasure route you already have.
If fighting breaks out along the way, Wayfinder won’t point you towards eliminations. That’s the role of Halfpeel’d, which is a better choice for combat awareness.
Do Fortune and Cursed Wayfinder variants help?
Those are the general variant effects across Treasure Hunters. The Fortune reveal is useful for locating Chests, whereas the base Wayfinder reveal focuses on Sprites.
Plan around water if you’re using Cursed, particularly when a buried Chest is on the other side of it. The rare-variant boost comes with that risk.
Fortnite Wayfinder Sprite is worth equipping when your aim is to find more Sprites and collect extra loot from the buried Chests you uncover. Follow real map leads and use its two abilities to make each treasure hunt count.
