Super Battle Golf multiplayer supports up to eight players competing online at the same time, with cross-platform play confirmed for its Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Nintendo announced the new console version for 25 March 2027 in its October Indie World showcase.
This is competitive golf, not a traditional cooperative campaign. Everyone races towards the hole, aiming for a low stroke count while using weapons and power-ups to sabotage rivals. The simultaneous rounds are what make the game feel different from ordinary golf.
How many people can play Super Battle Golf multiplayer?
Nintendo explicitly advertises online matches with up to eight players. Everyone takes part at the same time, so you don’t have to wait for a long queue of opponents to swing before acting.
Eight players can join the same online match, but that doesn’t mean eight people can share one Switch 2 or television. Nintendo hasn’t described a specific local split-screen option in the showcase.
Is it co-op or competitive golf?
Competitive. Players try to finish the course with the fewest strokes, but also use their items to interfere with opponents. There is no standard mission where eight golfers must work as a team towards a shared extraction objective.
Brimstone also advertises solo play with point-based scoring. Multiplayer is the chaotic main attraction, but you don’t need a full lobby to take a swing.
Super Battle Golf multiplayer crossplay confirmed
Nintendo names cross-platform online play for the Switch 2 launch. Brimstone confirms crossplay between Steam and the upcoming Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions.
The developer lists private and public servers and voice chat among the game’s features, alongside its cross-platform online play.
How do weapons and power-ups change matches?
Players can sabotage one another with equipment and power-ups while trying to complete a golf course. The result is a chaotic race rather than a polite sequence of turns, even though taking fewer strokes is still a central scoring goal.
Golf carts, aggressive shots and an orbital laser are some of Brimstone’s advertised ways to interfere with rivals. Sand pits, water and the usual hazards are still there to make your round harder.
Do Switch 2 players need Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo’s online feature terms require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, an internet connection and a Nintendo Account for supported online modes. The multiplayer mode is not a substitute for those system requirements.
If you plan to join friends at launch, check the membership attached to your own Switch 2 account. The normal rules for online play can differ from local sharing, and GameShare has not been confirmed for this title.
Will Super Battle Golf have GameShare or couch play?
The Nintendo announcement doesn’t say it supports GameShare, local eight-player play or any particular split-screen setup. It specifically confirms online simultaneous play and cross-platform matches.
That is unlike Dumpster Gang, which Nintendo explicitly lists with local and online GameShare. Super Battle Golf multiplayer should not inherit another game’s features simply because both were presented in the same showcase.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition arrives on 25 March 2027, published by Oro Interactive and developed by Brimstone. The game already launched on PC, so this is a new console release rather than the debut of the entire title.
