The PUBG Netflix series is officially in development, with Donald Glover set to star, direct, write and executive produce. KRAFTON announced the live-action adaptation of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on 30 October 2026. Netflix is developing the show, and its creative team already includes several established television producers.

Stephen Glover joins his brother as a writer and executive producer. Michael Schaefer of NEON TV, Fam Udeorji of Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee of KRAFTON’s LV3H division are executive producing. Here is who is involved, what the series is based on and where its development stands.

Is the PUBG Netflix series officially confirmed?

Yes. KRAFTON confirmed on 30 October that Netflix is developing a live-action television adaptation of its PUBG franchise. The project has named writers, executive producers and a lead performer, with Donald Glover taking on four roles.

This is an adaptation of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, the game that helped popularise the battle royale genre. In the game, participants land on a map, search for equipment and fight to survive. The series takes that franchise into scripted television, but KRAFTON has not revealed how closely the screen story will follow any particular match or location.

Who is in the PUBG Netflix series cast?

Donald Glover is the only named performer in KRAFTON’s release. He will star in the project, but the announcement does not name his character. Glover is known for creating and starring in Atlanta, appearing in Community, and working as a writer and producer across television and film.

Donald Glover is the only cast member named in the announcement. The other people listed are writers or executive producers, rather than additional actors.

Donald Glover has four announced responsibilities, rather than being attached only as an actor. Stephen Glover will write alongside him and also executive produce. KRAFTON’s LV3H entertainment division is participating in the show’s development and production, giving the game publisher a direct role in the adaptation.

Glover’s involvement as both a performer and a writer gives him a central creative role in the adaptation. Stephen Glover is attached to the scripts and executive production, while LV3H brings KRAFTON directly into the production team.

When will the PUBG Netflix series be released?

KRAFTON has not announced a release date for the PUBG Netflix series. The show is in development, and 30 October 2026 is the date of the publisher’s announcement, not a Netflix premiere.

The announcement gives no episode count or filming schedule. For viewers, the next date worth paying attention to will be a premiere announcement from Netflix or KRAFTON.

Will the series follow PUBG’s battle royale matches?

PUBG is built around survival matches, looting and combat inside a shrinking battleground. Those are the game’s defining elements, but KRAFTON’s announcement does not outline the series’ story or identify a character or map it will follow.

LV3H, KRAFTON’s entertainment division, is involved in developing and producing the show. This is part of the publisher’s wider expansion of PUBG into entertainment, rather than an in-game crossover or a limited promotional event.

How is the PUBG Netflix series different from the game?

The show is planned as scripted live-action television. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS remains the playable battle royale game, with its own maps, events and competition. A television announcement doesn’t add a new game mode or automatically give players a crossover reward.

If you’re interested in what is happening inside the game, our Dawnbreakers of Rondo guide covers an actual PUBG mode, while October Special Drops covers in-game rewards. Those are separate from the Netflix project.

PUBG Netflix series: what happens next?

The announcement centres on Donald Glover’s involvement and the production partnership between KRAFTON and Netflix. His combination of acting, directing and writing duties is what makes this adaptation stand out.

The series is in development, with its creative team in place and a release timetable still to come. The next update should come from KRAFTON or Netflix as production progresses.
