Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards are free digital cards available daily through Nintendo’s smartphone app as part of the series’ 40th anniversary. Each card features Zelda characters, items or other recognisable parts of the games, and comes with a quiz opportunity.
You can earn wallpapers and cards you’ve missed by answering quiz questions correctly. The app also has an updated Zelda-themed calendar and phone widget. Here’s how to collect the cards and use those features without confusing Nintendo Today! with the separate Nintendo Switch App.
How to collect Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards

Download the free Nintendo Today! app on a compatible phone and sign in with your Nintendo Account. Nintendo started offering new Zelda cards each day on 9 September 2026. Open the daily card inside the app to add it to your digital collection.
The cards feature characters and items from the series’ history. They are not physical trading cards, in-game gear or My Nintendo Platinum Points. You collect and view them inside Nintendo Today!. Nintendo encourages checking in daily to build your collection.
Nintendo hasn’t published one fixed daily reset hour or the campaign’s ending date in its original announcement. For Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards, opening the app each day is the reliable habit, rather than relying on a presumed midnight reset.
How to earn missed cards and wallpapers
Nintendo pairs each daily card with a quiz challenge. Correct answers can earn digital wallpapers and previously missed collectible cards. That catch-up reward is useful if you skipped days after the campaign began.
Open the daily card, follow the quiz prompt and submit your answer in the app. The announcement describes the available rewards but doesn’t promise a particular missing card or wallpaper every time you answer correctly. Check the prize actually awarded to your account.
The missed-card feature means you can work on gaps in your collection instead of assuming a missed day is gone forever. Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards are designed as a daily activity with a reason to come back even after you’ve skipped a few.
How to enable the Zelda theme in Nintendo Today!

Nintendo also updated the The Legend of Zelda theme with animations for its calendar and supported home-screen widget. Those scenes celebrate different games from the franchise and are separate from the cards you collect.
- Open Nintendo Today!.
- Tap the Profile icon at the bottom right.
- Open Theme.
- Select The Legend of Zelda.
You don’t have to pay for a theme pack, and changing the calendar isn’t a requirement for collecting cards. It simply gives the app a Zelda look while you check the daily rewards.
Is Nintendo Switch Online required?
No paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is listed as a requirement. Nintendo Today! is a free app for anyone with a Nintendo Account, a supported smartphone and an internet connection. Mobile data charges may apply.
Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards are a smartphone promotion. You don’t need to buy Ocarina of Time, own a Switch 2 or purchase physical Zelda merchandise to access the feature.
Is this the same as the Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES quiz?
No. Nintendo Today! has the anniversary cards and their quizzes. The Nintendo Switch App carries ZELDA NOTES for Ocarina of Time, including a separate quiz with more than 2,000 questions and game-related rewards. The apps and their prize systems are different.
See our Ocarina of Time ZELDA NOTES Quiz and ZELDA NOTES features guides for that activity. Our Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 guide covers the wider celebration.
To keep up with Zelda Nintendo Today collectible cards, open Nintendo Today!, claim the day’s card and try its quiz. That daily visit can add to your collection, help replace missed cards and unlock wallpapers while the anniversary campaign runs.
