Lost Ark Spectral Shade and Deathly Hand come from the Belgardin Shadow Raid and are used for Vambraces Limit Breaks. Normal awards Spectral Shade, while Hard and Nightmare award Deathly Hand. Both work at Stages 10 and 15, but Stage 20 requires Deathly Hand.
Check your Vambraces stage before choosing which difficulty to farm. Normal can supply what you need for the first two breaks, but reaching Ancient grade means eventually tackling Hard or Nightmare. The substitution rule helps you avoid spending higher-difficulty material too early.
Lost Ark Spectral Shade and Deathly Hand farming locations
| Belgardin difficulty | Minimum item level | Material |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 1,750 | Spectral Shade |
| Hard | 1,770 | Deathly Hand |
| Nightmare | 1,780 | Deathly Hand |
Both materials come from Belgardin, Arbiter of Death, the Shadow Raid added on 21 October 2026. Your character class and Vambraces grade don’t change the source. The difference is which difficulty you clear.
Normal starts at item level 1,750. To earn Deathly Hand, you’ll need to qualify for Hard at 1,770 or Nightmare at 1,780. These are entry requirements; the rewards for each gate are shown separately in the game.

Belgardin difficulty requirements and Matching Mode
Your character must finish the Cadarum Islands main quest After the Resonance Stops and reach the relevant item level. The regular encounter is designed for eight players. You can enter through the Shadow Raid object in a major city or use Party Finder and the Content Guide (Alt + Q).
Belgardin also has Matching Mode at item level 1,750. Its rewards match Normal in type and amount, except that gold is split equally between general and bound gold. It has no loot auction or Sidereal Energy, making it another way to earn Normal rewards without assembling a full eight-player group.
Lost Ark Spectral Shade and Deathly Hand: Vambraces Limit Break stages
| Break stage | Grade gained | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 10 | Epic to Legendary | Spectral Shade or Deathly Hand |
| Stage 15 | Legendary to Relic | Spectral Shade or Deathly Hand |
| Stage 20 | Relic to Ancient | Deathly Hand only |
The Vambraces slot unlocks at item level 1,750. Your first clear of Belgardin Gate 2 gives Epic Vambraces regardless of difficulty. These are character-bound pieces that add Attack Power and Defense; they have no item level, quality or Ark Passive points of their own.
Vambraces advance through Honing, but progress stops at Stages 10, 15 and 20 until you complete a Limit Break. Each of these milestones also raises the gear’s grade, and the overall progression can reach Ancient Stage 25.
Lost Ark Spectral Shade and Deathly Hand substitution ratio
At Stages 10 and 15, the game accepts either material. One Deathly Hand substitutes for two Spectral Shades when calculating the Limit Break cost. It’s a substitution within the upgrade itself, not a shop exchange you need to do in advance.
Spectral Shade is spent first when you own both materials. If you have enough Shade for the break, your Deathly Hand stays untouched. If you’re short, the substitution can cover the difference. The Vambraces screen shows the actual required amount; the two-to-one ratio doesn’t tell you the total cost of the upgrade.

Why save Deathly Hand for Stage 20?
Stage 20 accepts only Deathly Hand. Spectral Shade cannot replace it, regardless of how much you’ve collected from Normal. Completing this break raises your Vambraces from Relic to Ancient grade.
That makes Deathly Hand worth saving if you’re planning to reach Ancient grade. Use Spectral Shade for the earlier breaks when you have enough and keep the higher-difficulty material for Stage 20.
What can you craft at the Shadow Raid Workshop?
The Shadow Raid Workshop offers three items crafted with Belgardin materials: Specter’s Honing Material Chest, Specter’s Honing Auxiliary Material Chest and Soaring Stone Engraving Setting Kit. The crafted items and their components are character-bound.
Check each Workshop recipe before crafting, particularly if you’re saving materials for a Vambraces break. Belgardin also awards Gold and Ark Grid Cores. The separate Belgardin Conquest event has its own missions and tokens.
Where to check the exact material amounts
Use Gate Info before entering Belgardin to inspect the rewards for each difficulty and gate. The Vambraces interface displays the material cost of your current break. Those screens give you the specific quantities instead of relying on a guessed number of clears.
Belgardin shares its weekly entries across Normal, Hard and Nightmare. The published reset is Wednesday at 10:00, so check your server’s timer. Leaving during an active attempt also consumes an entry, even without loot. Our Belgardin raid guide explains the entry rules, while our Vambraces guide covers the equipment itself.
For Lost Ark Spectral Shade and Deathly Hand, the plan is straightforward: use Normal materials at the earlier breaks when possible, save Deathly Hand for Stage 20 and check the actual cost before committing your next entry.
