Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia debut at Wild Area Global on different days. Dialga appears on Saturday 14 November and Palkia on Sunday 15 November, from 10:00am to 6:00pm local time. Both are Max Battle bosses at Power Spots, not regular five-star raids.

You’ll need eligible Max Battle Pokémon and Max Particles, but no paid Global ticket. Prepare Fighting or Ground attacks for Dialga, and Dragon or Fairy attacks for Palkia. The two Legendaries have different typings, so your Saturday team might not be the best choice on Sunday.

Dialga is available only on Saturday 14 November 2026, and Palkia only on Sunday 15 November. In the UK, both dates run from 10:00am to 6:00pm GMT. Plan to play on both days if you want to catch both Legendary Dynamax Pokémon.

Gigantamax Duraludon is available in six-star Max Battles on both days. Regular five-star raids run separately at Gyms: Zekrom and White Kyurem on Saturday, then Reshiram and Black Kyurem on Sunday.

Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia: best Dynamax Dialga counters and weaknesses

Dialga is Dragon/Steel, so it’s weak to Fighting and Ground. Consider suitable Max-capable Fighting or Ground attackers, such as a trained Dynamax Machamp or Dynamax Excadrill. Check that the Max Attack shown in the Pokémon’s moves actually has the relevant type.

Steel removes the usual Dragon-type weakness, so relying only on a Dragon attack isn’t the right default for Dialga. Invest in Max Moves that help your team survive as well as attack. Max Guard can reduce incoming damage while Max Spirit heals the team.

Palkia is Water/Dragon, making it weak to Dragon and Fairy attacks. If you already own an eligible Max Pokémon with one of those attacking Max Moves, it’s worth preparing for Sunday. Don’t simply reuse a Ground-focused Dialga team without checking the moves.

Because Dragon Pokémon can also be vulnerable to opposing Dragon attacks, remember to look at your attackers’ survival, not only their damage. A support Pokémon with upgraded Max Spirit can help a group stay in the fight longer.

Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia: how to enter their Max Battles

Find the featured boss at a Power Spot on the correct date, then check its Max Particle requirement before joining with your eligible team. Raid Passes are for ordinary Gym raids, not these encounters, and your Pokémon must meet Max Battle eligibility rules.

Use regular attacks to fill the Max meter, dodge targeted attacks and collect energy icons when available. Once the meter fills, choose your actions over the three-turn Max phase. Max Particles are spent when you win, not simply for an unsuccessful battle attempt.

Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia: Shiny chances and backgrounds

Niantic marks both Legendary Dynamax debuts as Shiny-eligible during Global. A Shiny is possible after a successful encounter, but it’s never guaranteed. Both can also have the special commemorative Wild Area background on a successful catch.

That background appears on the Pokémon’s summary page to record the event. The announcement describes it as a chance, so don’t assume every Dialga or Palkia from a Max Battle will receive one.

Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia: free players versus ticket holders

Everyone can battle the debut bosses during Wild Area Global. The daily Max Particle collection cap increases to 1,600 for free players and 3,200 for Global ticket holders. The ticket costs US$11.99 or your local equivalent and offers additional research, Shiny chances and other event bonuses.

The ticket doesn’t change the day’s exclusive boss. If you only play Saturday you won’t find Sunday’s Dynamax Palkia Max Battle, and playing Sunday alone misses Dialga. Make sure you have both days available before planning a collection goal.

Do these bosses use normal Raid Passes?

No. Max Battles take place at Power Spots and use Max Particles, while regular Gym raids use Raid Passes. Saturday’s five-star raids include Zekrom and White Kyurem; Sunday has Reshiram and Black Kyurem. Machamp wearing a modern jacket appears in three-star raids on both days.

Preparing for Pokémon GO Dynamax Dialga and Palkia before the weekend gives you time to upgrade suitable Max Moves and plan a team for each day. If you want both, make sure you can play on Saturday and Sunday.
