Pokémon GO Gigantamax Duraludon makes its six-star Max Battle debut on 14 and 15 November 2026, from 10:00am to 6:00pm local time. As a Steel- and Dragon-type Pokémon, it’s weak to Fighting and Ground attacks. You’ll need eligible Max Battle Pokémon to challenge it at a Power Spot.

This isn’t a normal Gym raid, and you don’t need the paid Global ticket to join. A well-prepared group matters, though: check your Max Moves, collect Max Particles and plan to use Max Guard or Max Spirit if your team needs support.

Gigantamax Duraludon appears on both Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, including from 10:00am to 6:00pm GMT in the UK. Unlike the day-exclusive Dynamax Dialga and Palkia, it offers two event days to organise a group.

Steel and Dragon typing makes Duraludon weak to Fighting and Ground attacks. Its Steel typing neutralises the usual Dragon-type weakness, so a Dragon Max move isn’t necessarily a better choice just because Duraludon is part Dragon.

Pokémon GO Gigantamax Duraludon: best eligible Max counters

Dynamax Machamp is a Fighting option worth preparing, while Dynamax Excadrill can provide Ground attacks. Check your Pokémon’s actual Max Attack before upgrading it, because a Dynamax Pokémon’s Max Attack type depends on its Fast Attack. A high-CP Pokémon with the wrong move won’t exploit Duraludon’s weakness.

Only Pokémon eligible for Max Battles can join. If your offensive options are limited, an eligible Max Pokémon with upgraded Max Guard or Max Spirit can still contribute. A balanced group is often more useful than one where everyone focuses on damage.

How to win a Pokémon GO Gigantamax Duraludon six-star Max Battle

At the Power Spot, check the displayed Max Particle cost and assemble your eligible party. Use normal Fast and Charged Attacks to build the Max meter, then choose attacks, guarding or healing during the three-turn Max phase. Dodge when targeted and collect energy icons when they appear.

Gigantamax battles can support up to 40 Trainers, divided into smaller teams of four or fewer. Coordinate with others where possible. Max Particles are spent on victory, not on an unsuccessful attempt, so a difficult boss doesn’t automatically consume the entry cost when you lose.

Max Guard reduces incoming damage while Max Spirit heals your Pokémon and teammates. Having all players use only attacking Max Moves can make a six-star battle harder if the party faints early. Prepare support moves on at least some of the eligible Max Pokémon you bring.

During Global, the daily Max Particle collection cap is increased to 1,600 for free players and 3,200 for ticket holders. These collection caps don’t tell you the exact per-battle cost, which you should read at the active Power Spot.

Pokémon GO Gigantamax Duraludon: Shiny and Special Background encounters

Niantic confirms that Gigantamax Duraludon can be Shiny during its debut if you’re lucky. Selected successful catches can also feature a commemorative event Special Background. Neither a Shiny nor a background is guaranteed from every normal Max Battle victory.

The US$11.99 Global ticket gives a separate Special Research encounter with Gigantamax Duraludon and a Special Background. That’s an extra reward for ticket holders, not a requirement to join the six-star Max Battle.

Is Duraludon a raid or Max Battle boss?

It’s a six-star Max Battle boss at Power Spots. Standard five-star raids at Gyms have Zekrom and White Kyurem on Saturday, followed by Reshiram and Black Kyurem on Sunday. Those require Raid Passes rather than Max Particles.

Pokémon GO Gigantamax Duraludon appears on both event days, unlike Dynamax Dialga on Saturday and Dynamax Palkia on Sunday. If you want all three, arrange time for both dates and check the Dialga and Palkia battle guide before deciding which boss to tackle first.
