Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls are available during Wild Area Global on 14 and 15 November 2026, from 10:00am to 6:00pm local time. Everyone has a chance of getting them by spinning PokéStops and Gym Photo Discs, and they’re especially useful for catching the event’s powerful mighty Pokémon.
You can’t save them for the following week. Safari Balls are usable only during the Global event hours and disappear from your accessible inventory after the event, so use them on the difficult catches you actually want.
How to get Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls for free

During the event hours, spin PokéStops or the Photo Discs at Gyms. Niantic confirms a chance to receive GO Safari Balls on these spins for everyone, with no ticket requirement. A ball isn’t guaranteed from every spin, so keep checking nearby stops if you don’t receive one immediately.
Paid Global ticket holders have another source. Supply Balloons appear hourly and give GO Safari Balls during event hours. The balloons are a bonus for ticket owners, not the only way to obtain the balls. Free players can still hunt mighty Pokémon with Safari Balls.
When do Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls expire?
The usable windows are Saturday 14 November and Sunday 15 November, 10:00am–6:00pm local time. In the UK, that is 10:00am–6:00pm GMT. Niantic states that remaining balls become inaccessible from your inventory once Wild Area Global finishes.
Use any valuable remaining Safari Balls before 6:00pm on Sunday. The Dynamax Trails event beginning on 16 November doesn’t extend their availability. Balls left over from Global can’t be saved for a later mighty Pokémon event.
Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls: which Pokémon should you catch?
Mighty Pokémon tend to have strong appraisal values, can be XL or XXL, and are harder to catch. A Safari Ball substantially increases your chance of capturing one, making it worth considering whenever you meet a mighty Pokémon you’d like to keep.
A successful catch isn’t guaranteed, even with a Safari Ball. Save a few for mighty Pokémon you especially want. You can also find mighty Pokémon through normal Incense on both days, including Scizor, Flygon, Conkeldurr, Kingdra and Hydreigon.
Using Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls with ticket Incense encounters
The US$11.99 Global ticket adds mighty Latias and Latios as possible regular Incense encounters, along with Unown D, I, L and W. Niantic notes that the Legendary pair may flee quickly, so have Safari Balls ready when you activate Incense.
Daily Adventure Incense doesn’t qualify for those event Incense spawns. The ticket also boosts Shiny chances but does not guarantee a Shiny. The ball’s job is to help make a difficult catch, not to change a Pokémon’s Shiny status.
How to use Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls
Open the wild Pokémon encounter, choose the ball selector and pick a GO Safari Ball if you have one. Throw it as you would another Poké Ball. These are catching items for wild encounters; they don’t replace Raid Passes or Max Particles for battles.
If the ball isn’t available to select, check whether you’ve collected any and whether you’re within the event hours. Spins only offer a chance at Safari Balls, so one stop failing to give you one is normal.
Are Safari Balls free or ticket-only?
They’re free to obtain by chance for all Trainers from PokéStops and Gyms during the event. The paid ticket provides additional hourly Supply Balloons, plus separate research, Incense and Raid Pass bonuses. You do not need to purchase the ticket just to collect or use GO Safari Balls.
Pokémon GO Wild Area Safari Balls are one of the event’s most useful free items. Make time to spin stops, keep a few for the tougher mighty encounters and use any remaining balls before Sunday evening.
