Halloween The Game update 1.2.0 arrived on 27 October 2026 as Tower Farm Terror. Alongside the free Tower Farm map and Scythe Starting Weapon, it adds paid Michael Myers skins and new Civilians, changes Resident discovery and Bloodthirst reveals, makes Michael stronger in group fights and rebalances perks and Progressive Challenges.

Tower Farm is free for anyone who owns the game, and you can unlock the Scythe without buying a skin. The Halloween 5 (1989) Michael appearance offers an instant unlock instead. Below are the free and paid additions, followed by the matchmaking, combat, map and progression changes that affect how you play.

Halloween The Game update 1.2.1: October 28 Hotfix

The October 27 Halloween The Game update 1.2.0 was followed by Hotfix 1.2.1 on October 28. This follow-up Halloween The Game update fixes three specific problems from around the Tower Farm launch. IllFonic says to restart the client after installing the hotfix.

  • Scythe Progressive Challenge: fixed a bug preventing access to the new challenge. The weapon is not automatically unlocked.
  • DLSS-G Frame Generation: fixed frame-rate drops in certain scenarios. Not every cause of low FPS is addressed.
  • PC controller navigation: fixed the inability to access graphics performance settings while navigating with a controller.

If you couldn’t open the Scythe challenge after the Halloween The Game update, install 1.2.1 and restart the client before checking Michael’s Weapon Progressive Challenges. IllFonic doesn’t publish all the Scythe requirements in the notes. See our Scythe Challenge Not Unlocking guide for the different symptoms.

The Halloween The Game update 1.2.1 doesn’t include another map, new Michael skin or extra weapon. The prices and gameplay changes below belong to 1.2.0. For PC stuttering after the Halloween The Game update, see DLSS Frame Generation FPS Drops and restart before adjusting settings.

How to get the free Tower Farm map

Install the Halloween The Game update on Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, and play multiplayer. Tower Farm is the fifth map in the rotation and needs no extra map purchase. It is set outside Haddonfield in a rural community inspired by Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.

The illuminated filling station is a central landmark. You can also find country roads, barns, farmhouses, cornfields, a pumpkin-filled harvest festival and a trailer park with a laundromat and convenience store. The roads are exposed, so plan where you’re going before sprinting across them. Roadside ditches, buildings and brush can provide cover from Michael.

If Tower Farm doesn’t appear straight away, play through the multiplayer map rotation instead of expecting every lobby to select the new map.

How to unlock the new Scythe

The Halloween The Game update makes the Scythe a Starting Weapon. You can unlock it free by completing the new Scythe Progressive Challenges, then select it before a match. IllFonic also says it can be found on Tower Farm, but finding a particular pickup has not been confirmed as a permanent unlock method.

The instant alternative is to purchase the Halloween 5 Michael Myers skin for $9.99. That skin specifically grants the Scythe. The separate Halloween (2018) look has no announced instant Scythe benefit. Check the current challenge screen if you’re pursuing the free route.

Eugene and Michelle: prices and perks

The Halloween The Game update also brings Eugene Kelly and Michelle Blanton as playable Civilians. They are sold together for $9.99. Eugene’s Lurker improves stamina recovery and reduces stalk level while he is in stealth bushes. Michelle’s Therapeutic heals all nearby wounded Civilians and Residents for 25% of the healing item’s application amount whenever she uses a healing item.

That 25% is calculated from the item’s healing, not from each person’s maximum health. These are character abilities, not costume effects. The separate $9.99 Civilian Costumes Pack includes fourteen outfits and 42 colour tints, but does not unlock Eugene or Michelle.

Halloween 5 versus Halloween (2018) Michael Myers

Each Michael skin is $9.99. The Halloween 5 appearance comes from the 1989 film and is the one tied to immediate Scythe access. The 2018 appearance is based on the later film, with its mask design supervised by Christopher Nelson. You don’t need either for Tower Farm.

For anyone deciding between the purchases, the Halloween The Game update makes the distinction simple: the map and weapon’s challenge route are free, while the film looks and extra Civilians are optional paid items.

Free rewards added in Halloween The Game update 1.2.0

The October 27 Halloween The Game update, titled Tower Farm Terror, also brings the limited-time Jack Ghoul Goggles weekly challenge. Smash 50 pumpkins with weapons before November 3 at 10 AM Pacific (6 PM GMT in the UK) to unlock the Civilian cosmetic. The old Pumpkin Smasher achievement does not confirm whether you have already completed this new weekly objective, so check the active challenge tracker.

There are free A Haddonfield Halloween Twitch Drops as well. The event runs from October 26 to November 3, offering Moon Smile and Moon Light profile items at one hour, a Michael Kitchen Knife tint at two hours, and Tanya and Marcus outfit tints at four hours. Link Twitch and your game account through IllFonic, claim each reward on Twitch before progressing to the next, redeem through IllFonic and restart the game. These are free cosmetics, separate from the paid DLC.

Resident discovery and Special Target map changes

The Halloween The Game update changes how Civilians find Residents and Special Targets. Their locations are no longer all visible at the start of a match. Civilian players uncover Resident areas by moving near them instead of relying on a fully marked map. Each Resident you successfully convince increases your discovery range and marks another Special Target until every Special Target has been marked.

If enough Residents have died or escaped, the remaining Special Targets are marked automatically. The highlighted target areas have also been made less precise, and successful conversations with Residents or Special Targets have a better chance of revealing escape items or escape locations. Exploring and talking to people now matters more than it did before the October 27 patch.

How Michael’s Bloodthirst reveals Residents

Michael no longer sees the same target information at the beginning of a match. The Halloween The Game update gradually reveals locations as his Bloodthirst rises:

Bloodthirst tierLocations revealed
Tier 0No Resident or Special Target areas
Tier 1One random Resident area
Tier 2Half of Resident areas and one Special Target area
Tier 3All remaining Resident and Special Target areas, plus Special Target beams

These reveals apply to targets Michael has not already uncovered. With less information at Tier 0, he has more reason to build Bloodthirst through stalking and encounters before he can follow map markers to the remaining targets.

Michael’s group combat buffs and weapon changes

Michael now gets stronger when he is surrounded by three or more targets. The new group-combat scaling increases his damage, Bloodthirst gain, damage resistance and resistance to status effects. The bonuses scale with the number of nearby targets, although the patch notes do not give exact percentages. Grouping up to fight Michael is therefore riskier, even if Civilians have weapons.

The Halloween The Game update also increases Bloodthirst gained from Stalking. Blackout now shuts open escapes and locks and closes doors within its radius, Shadow Strike deals damage, and the Pitchfork inflicts Bleed. Using Reality Tear to exit Shape Jump now staggers Michael. The Pickaxe no longer inflicts Dazed, the Dazed effect lasts less time, and a bug that allowed Civilians to be Dazed was fixed.

Perk balance changes in Patch 1.2.0

Perks have new values across their five tiers. These are the current Tier 5 values listed in the October 27 patch notes, not claimed increases from the previous patch. Check your existing build before spending another perk roll:

PerkTier 5 value in 1.2.0
Adrenaline30% faster stamina recharge
Aura of Awareness65% larger personal Shape Jump prevention radius
Brutal Cleave35% more heavy melee damage
Clotting35% faster health regeneration
Dying Breath40% higher grab-escape chance at low health
Grave Footing90% lower chance of tripping when exhausted or terrified
Relentless Steel40% less melee weapon durability damage
Shield of Law80% less fear gain within 15 metres of a police officer
Silver Tongue45% more time for a perfect conversation score
Thick Skin28% more resistance to sharp damage
Unwinded25% less stamina used

Other adjusted perks include Barricade, Panic Contagion, Panic Drive, Deadshot, Slippery, Voice of Reason, Wired and Witness State. IllFonic lists their full tier-by-tier numbers in the official notes linked below. The Halloween The Game update also increases the XP required for perk rolls, so existing progression may feel slower.

Progressive Challenges and Scythe unlocks

The update revises numerous Progressive Challenges for Civilians, Michael variants and weapons. For example, Stitched Michael’s Unstoppable Breach now asks for 50 locked doors destroyed, Power Outage asks for 40 power boxes destroyed or shut off, and Complete Carnage asks for all four Civilians executed in a match 10 times. Civilian examples include Alexis’s Club Crew requirement of escorting 30 Residents to an escape and Laurie’s Final Girl requirement of surviving the night alive 10 times.

The new Scythe is a Starting Weapon, available for free through its own Progressive Challenges. Buying the Halloween 5 (1989) Michael skin unlocks it immediately instead. The official notes confirm both methods but do not print a complete Scythe-specific objective list, so follow the actual in-game tracker rather than an unverified kill count. See our Scythe unlock guide for the free and paid options.

Cross-play options, Tower Farm sewer and other fixes

The Halloween The Game update adds separate PC and console cross-play matchmaking toggles. Check the matchmaking settings if you want to change which platforms you can be matched with. It also adds a sewer escape route on Tower Farm, available alongside the map’s other escape options, and three new context executions.

Civilians regenerate stamina faster inside hiding spots, lower-Athleticism characters have more maximum stamina, and Police Reinforcements arrive armed. Escape interactions now create noise pings. On the tougher side, melee weapon durability is slightly reduced, car-repair minigames are slower, the early-game CB Radio countdown is longer and Flare Guns are discarded after use. The Wood Axe, Pickaxe and Pitchfork have shorter attack lunges.

Several bugs were addressed, including the wrong Perk Deck sometimes loading, the Ancient Amulet blinding Civilians, the Knockout Perk showing incorrect values, missing bloodthirst from context executions, and Civilian drivers becoming stuck when restarting cars. Michael also gets three new Prestige tints. For the complete challenge and perk tables, use the official 1.2.0 notes at the bottom of this article.

New content missing after updating?

Restart the game after the Halloween The Game update and verify the download has finished. Tower Farm belongs in multiplayer; it isn’t a new Story Mode chapter. The paid items must be owned on the correct platform account. If you only bought the Costume Pack, Eugene and Michelle won’t unlock from that purchase.

For older technical problems, see our crashing guide, 1.1.1 patch notes and 1.1.0 fixes. Other useful background includes the editions guide, PC requirements and release details.

This Halloween The Game update marks the first major content addition after launch, but it does not replace the earlier stability patches.
