Halloween The Game Scythe is a new Starting Weapon for Michael Myers, added in the 27 October 2026 Tower Farm Terror update. You can unlock it without buying DLC by completing the Scythe Progressive Challenges, or get it immediately by purchasing the Halloween 5 (1989) Michael Myers appearance for $9.99.
Patch 1.2.0 confirms this is a Starting Weapon, unlocked through the new Scythe Progressive Challenges or instantly through the paid Halloween 5 appearance. The exact challenge objectives still need a verified completed gameplay run, but you now know which challenge category to look in rather than hunting randomly for a hidden permanent pickup.
Halloween The Game Scythe Challenge Not Showing in Hotfix 1.2.1
Halloween The Game Scythe challenges did not appear for some players after the October 27 Tower Farm update. IllFonic released Hotfix 1.2.1 on October 28 to fix the bug that prevented access to the new Scythe Progressive Challenge. That is a confirmed fix for the missing challenge, not an automatic unlock of the weapon.
Close the game, install the latest update and restart the client, as IllFonic instructs in its notes. Open Michael’s Weapon Progressive Challenges again and check for the Scythe objective. When the challenge appears, you still need to complete its displayed requirements. If the tracker is visible but does not count an eligible action, that is different from the access bug that 1.2.1 explicitly fixed.
The official October 28 notes don’t list the exact Scythe challenge targets or promise retroactive progress. Avoid unverified kill counts and claims of a guaranteed barn pickup. Our Scythe Challenge Not Unlocking guide covers the restart, access and progression checks separately.
How to unlock Halloween The Game Scythe for free
- Install the October 27 content update on your platform.
- Open Michael Myers’ Weapon Progressive Challenges and find the new Scythe objectives.
- Work through the listed Scythe Progressive Challenges, checking progress after eligible matches. Tower Farm is free if your challenges take you there.
- Once the unlock completes, select the Scythe from Michael’s Starting Weapon options.
The original Tower Farm announcement said the weapon could be discovered on the new map, but Patch 1.2.0’s unlock description is clearer: it is a Starting Weapon earned through a new Progressive Challenge chain. No reliable source yet supplies every objective in that chain, so don’t assume entering a particular barn or reaching a guessed kill count will finish it.
The Halloween The Game Scythe unlock isn’t a reason to buy a new map. Tower Farm itself is free to existing owners, although you may need to play through the multiplayer map rotation before it appears.

Halloween The Game Scythe: Progressive Challenges and Tower Farm
The new Scythe Progressive Challenges are the unlock route to follow in Patch 1.2.0. The original announcement also connects the weapon with Tower Farm, where you can explore barns, farmhouses, cornfields and the harvest festival. However, the launch notes do not establish that picking up the weapon in a fixed barn is sufficient to unlock it permanently.
For the free Halloween The Game Scythe, open the in-game challenge descriptions and follow the actions specified there. Watch for progress after a match. Some weapon challenges require using the matching weapon, so don’t assume unrelated Michael kills will necessarily count. The exact Scythe challenge targets still need a documented completion.
Instant Halloween The Game Scythe unlock
Buy the Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers skin for $9.99. The developer expressly says this particular appearance immediately unlocks the Scythe. You don’t need to find the weapon on Tower Farm first if you choose that paid route.
The separate Halloween (2018) Michael skin also costs $9.99, but IllFonic hasn’t advertised an instant Scythe unlock with it. Don’t spend on the 2018 cosmetic expecting the same benefit. The Eugene and Michelle bundle and Civilian costume pack likewise are separate purchases without a stated Scythe bonus.

Free versus paid unlock compared
| Method | Cost | Confirmed details |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Nothing extra | Complete the new Scythe Progressive Challenges to unlock it as a Starting Weapon |
| Halloween 5 skin | $9.99 | Immediate Scythe unlock |
| Halloween (2018) skin | $9.99 | No advertised immediate Scythe unlock |
The Halloween The Game Scythe is a selectable Starting Weapon, not a Civilian or a map-only costume. Its free route is tied to the Progressive Challenges, while the Halloween 5 skin skips that work. Don’t buy the other film skin thinking it includes the same weapon unlock.
Scythe missing after the update?
Check that the new content has installed and that you’re playing multiplayer, not an older build. If you bought the Halloween 5 skin, verify the purchase on the correct platform account and restart before looking in weapon selection.
If you’re completing the Halloween The Game Scythe Progressive Challenges, check that the tracker is moving and that you’re using the right character or weapon for each step. Finding the Tower Farm map is not a substitute for completing the weapon objectives. If you have already met a requirement but it hasn’t ticked off, play another eligible match and check the challenge counter before starting over.

The free Halloween The Game Scythe is earned through the new Progressive Challenges, while the Halloween 5 Michael Myers appearance gives immediate access. The complete individual challenge list still needs a verified gameplay record; don’t mistake the weapon’s Tower Farm theme for a confirmed permanent pickup location.
