Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop is a limited Elder Rift event running from October 16 through November 6, 2026. It lets you select eight 5-Star Legendary Gems to exclude from your drop pool, improving the odds that any 5-Star gem you do receive is one of the remaining options.
The event doesn’t turn every Elder Rift into a guaranteed 5-Star drop. Blizzard’s wording is specifically about narrowing the possible result when a 5-Star Legendary Gem drops. That makes the exclusion choices useful for targeting upgrades or missing gems, but your normal Elder Rift and Crest rules still matter.
How Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop works

During Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop, the Elder Rift event gives you control over part of the 5-Star pool. Choose eight unwanted gems, and those eight are excluded while the event selection is active.
If an Elder Rift then awards a 5-Star Legendary Gem, the result is drawn from the remaining eligible gems rather than the full unfiltered pool. Blizzard describes this as improving your chance to acquire one of the gems left in the selection.
Does Priority Drop increase the chance of getting a 5-Star gem?
Blizzard doesn’t say that Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop increases the base chance of an Elder Rift producing a 5-Star Legendary Gem. The confirmed benefit applies after a 5-Star result occurs: eight selected gems are removed from the possible outcome.
So the event is best treated as a targeting tool, not a blanket drop-rate boost. If your Rift doesn’t roll a 5-Star gem, excluding eight options won’t convert a lower-rarity result into one.
How many Legendary Gems can you exclude?
You can exclude eight 5-Star Legendary Gems during the Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop event. The remaining pool is where your 5-Star results are targeted.
This is especially useful if your build only needs a small number of specific gems. Removing eight unwanted choices reduces the number of irrelevant 5-Star results without forcing you into a single guaranteed gem.
Which eight Legendary Gems should you exclude?
The best eight exclusions depend on your class, build and existing gem ranks. Start by removing 5-Star gems you would not equip or use as duplicates for an upgrade. Keep the gems that directly support your current build, plus any copies you still need for Resonance or rank progression.
If you are chasing a newly released gem such as Enigma Latera, check whether it is included in the live selectable pool before locking in your Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop exclusions. Our Enigma Latera guide covers that gem’s existing acquisition routes separately.
Priority Drop vs featured Legendary Gem events
Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop is broader than an event built around one named featured gem. Instead of giving a single 5-Star gem its own featured percentage, this event lets you remove eight possibilities and keep the rest available.
That flexibility is better if you would be happy with several different upgrades. A single-gem featured pool is easier to understand when one specific gem is the only target, while the exclusion system is designed around trimming away unwanted results.
Do Legendary Crests still matter?
Yes. The Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop event changes the eligible 5-Star pool; it does not replace the normal Elder Rift reward system. Your Rift setup and the Crests used still determine the normal Legendary Gem reward opportunities.
Before spending a large stockpile of Legendary Crests, set your eight exclusions first and check that the remaining pool contains the gems you actually want. The event only lasts a few weeks, so using expensive Rift resources before configuring the filter defeats the main advantage it offers.
Can you target one exact 5-Star Legendary Gem?
No exact one-gem guarantee is announced for Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop. Excluding eight gems improves the relative chance of the remaining choices, but Blizzard still describes the reward as one of the remaining 5-Star gems.
If several unwanted gems remain after your eight exclusions, they can still appear. Build the smallest useful pool you can within the event’s eight-exclusion limit, then decide whether the remaining possibilities are strong enough to justify spending your Crests now.
When does Legendary Gem Priority Drop end?
Diablo Immortal Legendary Gem Priority Drop runs from October 16 at 3 a.m. until November 6 at 3 a.m. server time. The timing follows your Diablo Immortal server rather than one worldwide UTC deadline.
Once the event ends, the eight-gem exclusion benefit is no longer promised by Blizzard’s current update. If you have been saving Legendary Crests specifically to narrow your 5-Star results, use the event window while the Priority Drop system is active.
