Fortnite Reload The Hunt: How to Find Marks, Kado Thorne and Rewards

Fortnite Reload The Hunt is a new match modifier introduced with Nitemare Island: Kado’s Curse on October 8, 2026. When it activates, Kado Thorne gives you another player to track down, known as a Mark. Eliminating your target earns a reward, and a fresh Mark is assigned as each new Storm Circle begins.

What makes Fortnite Reload The Hunt interesting is that it doesn’t tell you exactly where your target is standing. You have an approximate area and a choice: follow the lead or carry on with your normal Reload rotation. You won’t see the modifier every match, either. Here’s how it works, where Kado himself can be found, and what you should expect from the rewards.

How Fortnite Reload The Hunt works

The Hunt has a chance to activate when your Reload match takes place on Nitemare Island. It’s not a setting you turn on in the lobby or a quest that has to be unlocked first. When the modifier is active, you receive a Mark after landing from the Battle Bus. The game shows the general vicinity of that opponent rather than an exact, constantly updating position.

Once a Mark has been eliminated, Kado grants a reward of his choosing. You can receive another Mark when the next Storm Circle starts, which means you may have several targets during one match. Epic’s official notes don’t specify an exact activation percentage or a fixed reward table. Creator reports from October 21 claim the appearance rate increased from 10% to 30%, but those percentages haven’t been confirmed by Epic.

You don’t need to remember a complicated set of challenges for Fortnite Reload The Hunt. Check whether the modifier is active after landing, look at the area indicated for your target and decide whether it’s close enough to pursue. If it’s on the other side of the safe zone, don’t burn all your ammunition or expose your squad just to reach it.

Where to find Kado Thorne on Nitemare Island

Epic confirms that Kado Thorne can be found inside Terror Turrets. You can interact with him there and learn more about his arrival on Nitemare Island. The interaction is separate from getting a Mark: the modifier assigns targets automatically when it activates, so visiting Terror Turrets isn’t a compulsory first step.

First make sure you’ve loaded into Nitemare Island rather than another Reload map. Once you’re there, look for Terror Turrets and prepare for other players who may have landed nearby. If you only want to meet Kado for the interaction, you can do that without spending the rest of the match chasing a Mark.

How to track down a Mark in Fortnite Reload The Hunt

The marker narrows down where your opponent might be, but it doesn’t remove the usual risks of moving through a contested part of the map. Use cover when approaching the indicated area, watch for buildings or players on high ground and listen for fighting before committing. Your Mark is a player who can move, hide and fight back, not a stationary boss.

For team modes, tell your squad which direction the marker points. Arriving together gives you far better odds of securing the elimination than running several hundred metres ahead of your teammates. If the circle is about to move, checking your next safe-zone route before chasing can save you from a fight in the Storm.

One useful feature of Fortnite Reload The Hunt is that a new Storm Circle brings a new assignment. A target who is miles away now doesn’t have to define the next ten minutes of your game. Keep your squad supplied, survive the rotation and reassess once another Mark appears.

What rewards can you get from Fortnite Reload The Hunt?

The October 15 update expands The Hunt rewards. Winning a Hunt can now give you a wider selection of gameplay items instead of only Kado Thorne’s Siphon weapons. The exact item you receive can vary, so completing a Mark doesn’t guarantee a particular gun. These are in-match rewards, not a shortcut to permanent Locker cosmetics.

It’s worth keeping these match rewards separate from the seasonal progression added in the same update. Reload Ranked has Elite Kado Thorne-themed cosmetics and an Axe of Unreal for players who reach Unreal. Map Mastery quests have refreshed Halloween rewards, while a Victory Royale in Ranked or Unranked can award the Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella. Those have their own requirements.

Do Kado’s Siphon weapons drop from The Hunt?

The Nitemare Island loot pool features three named weapons: Kado’s Siphon Deadeye Assault Rifle, Kado’s Siphon Gatekeeper Shotgun and Kado’s Siphon Monarch Pistol. Their health-siphoning ability makes them appealing during aggressive fights, especially when you can consistently hit opponents.

They arrived alongside Fortnite Reload The Hunt, but Epic hasn’t said that every Mark reward is one of these guns. Look for them in the match’s loot rather than relying on a specific elimination payout. It’s also worth remembering that the new Kado weapons are only part of the Nitemare Island-specific selection; the wider Reload pool has received other changes too.

Why Fortnite Reload The Hunt might not show up

The reported 30% chance isn’t a guarantee that Fortnite Reload The Hunt appears in every third game. Even if the reported change is correct, the modifier is still tied to Nitemare Island, so matches on other maps cannot activate it. Epic’s confirmed v42.40 change is the expanded range of rewards for Hunt wins.

If Fortnite Reload The Hunt isn’t showing, check the island first before worrying about activation odds. You cannot manually trigger the modifier with a code or a chest.

Two things can stop you seeing the modifier. The first is the map rotation: Nitemare Island shares the Ranked and Unranked playlists with other islands, so you won’t encounter Terror Turrets or Kado’s modifier when a different map is selected. The second is the activation chance. Even on Nitemare Island, Epic says you might become part of The Hunt.

If the match is otherwise working, missing a Mark isn’t proof of a bug. There’s no published special code, quest unlock or item that guarantees it. You can play another Reload match and watch for the modifier the next time Nitemare Island comes up.

Is Fortnite Reload The Hunt in Ranked and Unranked?

Epic included Nitemare Island in the rotation for both playlists, alongside Stranger Things and Surf City at launch. Stranger Things was briefly swapped with Oasis because of an issue, then restored. Squid Grounds was the exclusive map October 15–19. It now rotates with Nitemare Island and Stranger Things in both Ranked and Unranked, according to Epic’s v42.40 notes. Check the Reload map rotation for current playlists.

When Fortnite Reload The Hunt appears in a Ranked game, resist treating the target as more important than surviving. If the indicated opponent is on the way to the next circle, the extra fight may be worthwhile. If the chase would pull you out of position and away from your teammates, let that opportunity go.

Best ways to play Fortnite Reload The Hunt

Loot first, chase second. A Mark is only useful if you can reach that player and win the fight. Keep enough ammunition and healing to handle the next squad after the elimination, and use the target’s general area to plan a route rather than sprinting directly towards a marker in the open.

Try to time your push around the safe zone. A target heading into the same circle as your squad gives you a natural opportunity to engage. If they disappear into an awkward part of the island, concentrate on staying alive until the next Storm Circle assigns someone else.

Fortnite Reload The Hunt gives Nitemare Island a different rhythm. You have a direction to investigate, a reward waiting if you can secure your Mark and another chance when the circle changes. The trick is knowing when a hunt fits your normal Reload game and when an unsafe chase is better left alone.
