Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons: Current Loot Pool and Best Picks

Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons are no longer just a launch-day list of Halloween items. The October 6 hotfix has already changed Freddy’s Nightmare, Dual Fiend Hunters and Rebecca’s Guns, while the wider event mixes boss rewards, normal loot, returning classics and Loot Hack items across different playlists.

The strongest Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons depend on what you’re fighting: Bonerattler reveals enemies, Freddy’s Nightmare isolates close-range targets, and Dual Fiend Hunters reward careful aiming. Bonerattler SMG gives information, Freddy’s Nightmare creates isolated melee fights, Dual Fiend Hunters reward aimed pressure, and returning weapons such as the Pumpkin Launcher fill completely different roles.

Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons list

The current Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons lineup centres on Freddy’s Nightmare, the Bonerattler SMG, Dual Fiend Hunters, Wood Stake Shotgun and returning Halloween options like the Pumpkin Launcher. Some earlier seasonal equipment, including the Witch Broom pocket item, has been vaulted since the October 15 v42.40 patch. Loot Hacks also change which bonus weapons can appear.

Loot Hacks can also add items such as Last Call, Infantry Rifle, Light Machine Gun and Slap Candy Corn to the way you build a match. Check the way each item drops: Freddy’s claws have a boss route, standard weapons come from regular loot, and special items may depend on the active Loot Hack or playlist.

Best all-round new weapon

Bonerattler SMG is the easiest all-round recommendation among the new Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons. Its wall-reveal identity gives you information before you fully commit, which is useful in dense POIs where the next opponent is often one room away rather than one hundred metres across a field.

The weapon is not only about raw DPS. Knowing where somebody is about to peek can be worth more than a tiny damage advantage, especially when multiple squads are fighting through the same building.

Best boss weapon: Freddy’s Nightmare

Freddy’s Nightmare is the most distinctive boss reward in the Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons pool. Defeat Freddy Krueger at Nightmare Neighborhood to claim the claws, then use Living Nightmare to isolate nearby opponents and close into melee range.

The October 6 hotfix improves movement speed while the claws are equipped and lowers tactical sprint stamina cost. That makes the weapon less dependent on a perfect teleport setup and more usable during the messy seconds between ability activations.

Dual Fiend Hunters after the October 6 buff

Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons also include the returning Dual Fiend Hunters, which received better ADS accuracy on October 6. The change rewards players who actually aim the paired crossbows instead of panic-firing them from the hip.

They remain a deliberate weapon with a reload you need to respect. Use elevation, aim before firing and keep a close-range fallback rather than trying to make the crossbows cover every possible engagement.

Rebecca’s Guns after the October 6 nerf

Rebecca’s Guns sit slightly outside the pure Halloween theme, but they are part of the live weapon environment surrounding Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons. The October 6 hotfix greatly reduces their structure damage and slightly slows their reload.

That is most noticeable in Build mode. Rebecca’s Guns remain useful against players, but you should be more willing to switch weapons when somebody is actively rebuilding instead of expecting one magazine to solve both the wall and the person behind it.

Best returning shotgun option

The Wood Stake Shotgun remains one of the most recognisable returning Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons. It gives players a conventional close-range firearm in a pool that otherwise contains a lot of gimmicks, mobility and special effects.

That normality is useful. A seasonal loadout still needs something you can trust when another player jumps into the same room, and not every fight needs a boss mechanic to be effective.

Where the Pumpkin Launcher fits

The Pumpkin Launcher gives Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons their classic explosive identity. It is valuable for forcing players out of cover, punishing grouped positions and creating pressure that normal bullets cannot reproduce.

Do not waste explosive ammunition on targets you could finish cleanly with a normal weapon. The launcher is at its best when the blast changes the shape of the fight rather than simply adding noise.

Is the Witch Broom still available after October 15?

The Witch Broom was one of the event’s early mobility choices, but Epic vaulted the pocket-item Witch Broom in v42.40 on October 15. That means it shouldn’t be presented as a current item to seek in ordinary Battle Royale loot after this update.

If you’ve seen an older Fortnitemares loadout built around the Broom, replace that slot with an item currently available in your mode. The exact options can depend on active Loot Hacks and game modes; check the live pool before planning a drop.

How Loot Hacks change the weapon pool

Loot Hacks make Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons less static than a normal event loot list. Epic allows Hack options to influence what can appear from Chests, which means two players can be pursuing different bonus items even on the same island.

Check the active Hack you are using before following a guide that assumes every item is normal floor loot. The source matters as much as the weapon name.

Best Fortnitemares loadout idea

A balanced Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons loadout should cover close-range damage, medium-range pressure, mobility or utility, and healing. Bonerattler plus a strong shotgun and one seasonal mobility option is a safer foundation than stacking three novelty items that all need you to be within ten metres.

If you pick up Freddy’s Nightmare, build around the claws instead of simply adding them to an already crowded close-range setup. Keep something that can start or finish a fight when Living Nightmare is unavailable.

What changed on October 6?

The October 6 balance checkpoint for Fortnite Fortnitemares Weapons improved Freddy’s Nightmare movement, Dual Fiend Hunters aim accuracy and adjusted Rebecca’s Guns. A later creator report on October 21 describes further Freddy’s Nightmare damage and chest-availability buffs, but Epic hasn’t documented the new exact damage and loot probabilities in its public notes.

The October 15 v42.40 patch also added new Loot Hacks, including Thorne’s Vampiric Blade, Finger Guns, Gatekeeper Shotgun, Hunting Rifle, Slap Splash and all Sprite variants. Some of these are equipment and utility, not direct substitutes for an assault rifle or shotgun. For Freddy’s combo and potential chest drops, see our updated Freddy’s Nightmare guide.
