Clash Royale Evolutions: All Evolutions and How to Unlock Them

electrogiantevolution

Clash Royale Evolutions add special forms to existing cards, but the live system is no longer the same as the early Evolution setup that many older guides describe. Evolution Slots now unlock through Trophy Road progression, six matching shards are the standard unlock requirement, and the Wild Slot gives higher-arena players another way to activate a special card form. Evolutions are now long-term collection infrastructure rather than a one-season feature.

October 2026 adds Electro Giant Evolution through the Shocktober Album Event, while the wider Evolution library now covers troops, buildings and spells. Understanding which cards have a form, how deck slots work and where shards come from is more useful than relying on a historical release list. The current system also includes duplicate conversion and limited free event routes. That is why current Clash Royale Evolutions guidance needs to separate permanent shard rules from event-specific shortcuts.

How Clash Royale Evolutions work

Clash Royale Evolutions only activate when an unlocked Evolution is placed in the Evolution Slot or Wild Slot. The Evolution Slot unlocks at Arena 3 and the Wild Slot at Arena 10. Put the card in a normal slot and it behaves as the base card.

Most Clash Royale Evolutions require cycling the base card a card-specific number of times before the evolved form appears. Cycle requirements can be balanced, so there is no safe universal number to apply to the whole roster.

The special-slot rule matters when comparing Clash Royale Evolutions because owning a form is not the same as activating it. The card must sit in the Evolution Slot or Wild Slot, and its own cycle requirement still has to be met during the battle. Moving that card back to a normal slot leaves the base card active, which can change a deck even though the Evolution remains unlocked on the account.

Current Clash Royale Evolutions list

The October 2026 Clash Royale Evolutions pool is large enough that a permanent parent reference is useful. The following cards currently have Evolution forms, including the Shocktober Electro Giant addition.

  • Battle Ram
  • Bats
  • Bomber
  • Cannon
  • Dart Goblin
  • Electro Dragon

This is an availability list, not a strength ranking. A new Evolution can be niche, and an older Evolution can remain central to a strong archetype after several balance patches.

How to unlock Evolutions

Collect six Evolution Shards for a specific card to unlock that evolved form. Specific shards only progress that card. Wild Shards are more flexible where available and can fill missing progress toward a chosen Evolution.

Supercell lists Pass Royale, Evolution Boxes, challenges, events, Shop offers, chests, Magic Lucky Chests, Seasonal Lucky Chests and Trophy Road as current shard sources. Limited events can also award a complete Evolution or a special free route.

Permanent progression for Clash Royale Evolutions is built around specific shards, but the source of those shards can vary. Pass Royale, Evolution Boxes, Trophy Road, events, challenges and eligible chest rewards can all contribute. That makes guaranteed rewards more valuable to plan around than random drops, especially when you are only one or two shards short of a form you already know fits your main deck.

What happens to duplicate Evolution Shards

If you receive a specific shard for a card whose Evolution is already complete, Supercell converts the excess shard into copies of that base card. The number of cards depends on Arena and rarity. The duplicate does not become a Wild Shard for another Evolution.

Clash Royale Evolutions therefore have a different overflow system from Hero Coins, and the difference matters when you are deciding whether a random reward still has progression value. A duplicate shard can still turn into base-card copies, but it does not become a flexible shard for another Evolution.

Electro Giant Evolution and event unlocks

The Shocktober Album Event is a current example of a limited free route. Electro Giant Evolution is tied to Album completion rather than forcing every player through the normal six-shard process first.

Limited routes make some Clash Royale Evolutions temporarily cheaper to obtain. Check the live event before spending flexible Wild Shards on the same form.

A limited event can temporarily change the best route without changing the underlying system. When Clash Royale Evolutions are awarded through an Album or another complete-event reward, using flexible shard resources on the same form can be unnecessary. Check the event reward path first, then use permanent shards on a different Evolution if the temporary route will complete the one you wanted anyway.
