Dying Light The Beast Call of the Beast Week 1 Guide

Community Event Participation Dying Light The Beast Dying Light The Beast anniversary event

Call of the Beast Week 1 is live in Dying Light: The Beast, and the first anniversary objective is finally confirmed. From September 21 to September 28, the community is working together to kill 50 million enemies across Castor Woods while a separate vote tracks slashing and blunt damage.

The Week 1 structure is simple once the two systems are separated. Enemy kills push the global community goal forward, while the type of damage players use influences which special combat modifier becomes active for the weekend. The specific Week 1 reward is not named in Techland’s accessible announcement, so this guide sticks to what is verifiable.

The Call of the Beast Week 1 objective is to kill 50 million enemies across Castor Woods as a community. Call of the Beast Week 1 progress is shared across the community rather than asking one player to reach that figure. Techland confirms the target in the official Week 1 announcement published on September 21.

This is a global number, not an individual target. Your role is to contribute enemy kills during the active week. You can combine the event with ordinary exploration and quests rather than treating it as a completely separate mission chain.

How to contribute to the 50 million kill goal

Start by checking Options, then Game, and make sure Community Event Participation is enabled. Techland specifically identifies that setting as the way to disable the event, so it is the first thing to check if you want to take part.

After that, fight enemies in Castor Woods. The official wording for Call of the Beast Week 1 does not restrict the global total to one named enemy type or one weapon class. That gives you freedom to work the goal into whatever combat-heavy activities you already want to do.

How the Week 1 slashing vs blunt vote works

The weapon vote is separate from the 50 million kill total. Slashing damage contributes toward the slashing side of the weekly vote, while blunt damage contributes toward the blunt side.

The winning side determines the special weekend conditions. That makes your loadout a vote as well as a combat choice during Call of the Beast Week 1. If you care about one modifier more than the other, favour that damage style while completing your normal kills.

What happens if slashing wins

A slashing-focused result dramatically increases the chance of brutal dismemberment. The drawback is that players should expect far more firearm-wielding enemies.

That outcome favours a more extreme dismemberment-heavy weekend but adds extra ranged pressure. It can change how comfortable open combat feels, particularly when several gun-using enemies are present at once.

What happens if blunt wins

A blunt-focused result greatly increases the chance to knock enemies into ragdoll when you hit them. The trade-off is much harsher fall damage for the player, with Techland warning that even smaller drops will hit harder.

The blunt result therefore makes knockback more dramatic while punishing careless movement. Castor Woods has plenty of vertical terrain, so the fall-damage penalty is worth remembering if that side wins.

Call of the Beast Week 1 reward

The specific Call of the Beast Week 1 reward is not named on Techland’s accessible Week 1 news page. Techland says the week contains surprises and directs players to the Outpost event page for further details, but that is not enough reason to publish a guessed reward name.

The anniversary event does have rewards. What remains unverified in the public announcement is the exact Week 1 item. Our rewards page will track that separately once the name can be confirmed.

When Week 1 ends and Week 2 begins

Call of the Beast Week 1 runs until September 28, when Week 2 begins. The Week 2 objective and vote choices have not been announced yet, so players should not assume the 50 million enemy target continues into the next phase.

Before the switch, make sure any Week 1 participation you care about is completed and check the Outpost. Then treat September 28 as a fresh weekly phase with a potentially different objective and modifier vote.
