Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks begin with nine weapons available immediately, then add Type 73 at Rank 5, M4 at Rank 9 and more weapons through Rank 30.
The beta contains 22 weapons across nine classes. Most follow normal Player Rank progression, while Axion and Sang 9mm are restricted to default loadouts and WZ.55 Striga is tied to a Campaign mission in the beta.

Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: Weapons available immediately
Han 86, ISO Nightshade, Rezi 12, FiNN LMG, MAR-9, KG-7 Vulcan, Karit P68, PILA and Combat Knife can all be used without waiting for a later weapon specific Player Rank gate. That gives you an early option in almost every major weapon family.
Early rank unlocks
Type 73 arrives at Rank 5 and M4 at Rank 9. Those are especially useful unlock points because Type 73 gives you another LMG before the progression becomes deep, while M4 opens one of the most flexible Assault Rifles in the beta. PPSh-41 follows at Rank 11 and Oris 8.6 at Rank 14.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: Mid progression weapon unlocks
Hyeon Burst opens at Rank 18, Kastov 762 at Rank 21, .50 GS at Rank 23 and Patriot XMR at Rank 25. This section of the progression adds more specialised choices rather than simply duplicating the immediately available weapons.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: Late beta weapon unlocks
X-58 Nyx unlocks at Rank 27 and Signal .50 at Rank 30. Both are strong reasons to keep levelling because X-58 Nyx adds a controlled subsonic SMG and Signal .50 adds the heavy anti material sniper with the Inferno Apex path.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: Default Loadout and Campaign exceptions
Axion and Sang 9mm can be sampled through default loadouts in the beta but do not use a normal permanent unlock route there. WZ.55 Striga is a Campaign mission weapon in the beta. Those three should be rechecked at launch rather than assigned a made up retail rank.
Do weapon unlocks change at launch?
They can. Activision’s official guide documents the beta progression, not a promise that every rank remains identical on October 23. The confirmed order is most useful for planning which weapons can be levelled early and which require a later account rank.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: A practical levelling route through the beta
The cleanest route is to begin with one immediately available primary you genuinely like, then add Type 73 at Rank 5 and M4 at Rank 9. That gives you early progression on a real weapon instead of waiting for a favourite that unlocks much later. By Rank 14 you can also test PPSh-41 and Oris 8.6 before the higher rank specialist weapons begin appearing.
Which weapon unlock is most worth waiting for?
M4 at Rank 9 is the easiest answer because it fills a broad role and has one of the most dramatic Apex conversions. X-58 Nyx at Rank 27 and Signal .50 at Rank 30 are more specialised rewards for players who specifically want stealth SMG play or a heavy anti material sniper.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: Why default loadout weapons are different
Axion and Sang 9mm can be sampled in the beta without receiving a normal permanent unlock route. That means they should not be mixed into the numbered rank table as if their retail acquisition is known. The same caution applies to WZ.55 Striga, which is tied to a Campaign mission during the beta.
Modern Warfare 4 weapon unlocks: What to use while waiting for a later unlock
If your target weapon sits deep in Player Rank progression, use something with a similar job rather than leaving the class empty. Han 86 can cover flexible rifle play before M4 or Patriot XMR. ISO Nightshade gives you an SMG while waiting for PPSh-41 or X-58 Nyx. KG-7 Vulcan lets you start sniper progression long before Signal .50 appears at Rank 30. That way the account keeps gaining useful attachments and class knowledge while you level.
