How to Get Midnight’s Edge Legendary Dagger is only partly answered so far: Blizzard has confirmed that the weapon comes from The Worldcore raid in Patch 12.2 Eclipse, but defeating the raid is just one part of a larger unlock process.
What Midnight’s Edge Is
Midnight’s Edge is a Legendary caster dagger and the first Legendary weapon of both the Midnight expansion and the wider Worldsoul Saga. Blizzard revealed it alongside The Worldcore, the eight-boss raid at the centre of Eclipse.
You Need The Worldcore
The weapon is obtained through content tied to The Worldcore raid. Blizzard’s wording matters: the raid is part of the process, not necessarily a simple final-boss drop that appears in your bags after one kill.
Beating the Raid Is Not Enough
Blizzard explicitly says defeating the raid is only one of many steps required to unlock Midnight’s Edge. That points to a questline or multi-stage acquisition path, but the company has not published those stages yet.
Is It the Blade of the Black Empire?
No. Blizzard went out of its way to say Midnight’s Edge is not the Blade of the Black Empire. The resemblance and Void theme are deliberate discussion points, but the new dagger is its own Legendary.
Which Classes Can Use It?
Blizzard calls it a caster dagger, which narrows the intended audience, but final class and specialization eligibility has not been published in the recap. It is safer to wait for the item tooltip than guess at every class that may qualify.
Will It Require Mythic?
There is no confirmed Mythic-only requirement. The exact raid difficulty, quest items, currencies and time gates involved in the Legendary chain have not been revealed.
What Can You Prepare Now?
There is nothing useful to pre-farm before Blizzard reveals the quest chain. The practical preparation is being ready for Eclipse and The Worldcore rather than hoarding random Midnight materials in the hope they become relevant.
When Will the Full Route Be Known?
Once PTR exposes the Legendary questline, the missing pieces will be clear: starting quest, raid requirements, materials, weekly limits and final reward step. Until then, the official World of Warcraft site confirms only the Worldcore connection and multi-step requirement.
