There are four event Field Research tasks during Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery. All four focus on throw accuracy. Current research listings show Phantump as a reward across the set, while Pokémon GO also confirms Cherubi and Drifloon as event Field Research encounters. Phantump has an increased Shiny chance during the event, while Cherubi and Drifloon also have increased Shiny chances.

How many Phantump encounters are in the Timed Research?

One complete Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery Timed Research track awards 40 Phantump encounters. There are three encounter rewards on each of the 10 steps, plus one more Phantump encounter for completing each step. Finishing the whole track also awards 11,500 XP, 3,000 Stardust, 20 Poké Balls, 10 Great Balls, 10 Ultra Balls and five each of Nanab, Razz and Pinap Berries.

The high encounter count is the main reason to complete the research before spending too much time repeatedly farming Field Research. Every Phantump obtained from the event research benefits from the increased Shiny chance announced for Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery, although Pokémon GO has not published a numeric Shiny rate.

The paid Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery ticket costs US$1.99 or the equivalent local pricing tier. The premium research uses the same 10 steps and the same rewards as the free research, so buying the ticket effectively gives you another full run through the task list rather than a separate premium-only challenge.

Completing both Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery tracks can therefore provide up to 80 Phantump encounters from Timed Research alone, before any Phantump obtained from Field Research is counted. Yes. Pokémon GO confirms an increased Shiny Phantump chance during Pokémon GO Phantump Catch Mastery. The boost applies to Phantump encounters from Field Research, the free Timed Research and the paid Timed Research. A Shiny encounter is still not guaranteed, and no official numeric Shiny rate has been published.
