Celesteela Pokémon GO encounters give Trainers the chance to catch the Launch Pokémon and one of the largest Ultra Beasts. Its Steel and Flying typing provides an impressive number of resistances, but its balanced stats and mismatched attacks limit its usefulness as a raid attacker.
This Celesteela Pokémon GO guide covers shiny Celesteela, its weaknesses, strongest raid counters, perfect IV catch CP, best moveset and whether it is worth using in raids or the GO Battle League.

Can Celesteela Be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Yes, shiny Celesteela is available in Pokémon GO.
Regular Celesteela has a metallic body with green sections around its arms and lower body. Shiny Celesteela replaces much of the green colouring with white, while other areas take on darker metallic shades.
A shiny encounter is not guaranteed after winning a Celesteela Pokémon GO raid. Trainers may need to complete multiple battles before shiny Celesteela appears.
Celesteela will not look shiny during the raid battle itself. The shiny check happens after the Ultra Beast has been defeated and the catch encounter begins.
Celesteela is commonly associated with the Southern Hemisphere during regionally divided raid events. Trainers in the Northern Hemisphere may need to join a Remote Raid or wait for a worldwide appearance.
Celesteela Pokémon GO Weaknesses
The Celesteela Pokémon GO weaknesses are:
- Electric-type attacks
- Fire-type attacks
Celesteela does not have a double weakness. Electric and Fire attacks both deal ordinary super-effective damage.
Its Steel and Flying typing gives Celesteela resistance to:
- Bug-type attacks
- Dragon-type attacks
- Fairy-type attacks
- Flying-type attacks
- Grass-type attacks
- Ground-type attacks
- Normal-type attacks
- Poison-type attacks
- Psychic-type attacks
- Steel-type attacks
Bug, Grass and Poison attacks are particularly ineffective because Celesteela has a double resistance to them.
Rainy weather boosts Electric attacks, while Sunny weather boosts Fire attacks. Snowy and Windy weather boost Celesteela and increase its catch CP following a successful raid.
Best Celesteela Pokémon GO Raid Counters
The best Celesteela Pokémon GO counters are powerful Electric and Fire-type attackers using matching Fast and Charged Attacks.
| Pokémon | Recommended moves |
|---|---|
| Shadow Therian Forme Thundurus | Volt Switch and Wildbolt Storm |
| Mega Blaziken | Fire Spin and Blast Burn |
| Mega Charizard Y | Fire Spin and Blast Burn |
| Blacephalon | Incinerate and Mind Blown |
| Shadow Heatran | Fire Spin and Magma Storm |
| Mega Manectric | Thunder Fang and Wild Charge |
| Reshiram | Fire Fang and Fusion Flare |
| Zekrom | Charge Beam and Fusion Bolt |
| Xurkitree | Thunder Shock and Discharge |
| Shadow Raikou | Thunder Shock and Wild Charge |
Shadow Therian Forme Thundurus is one of the strongest Celesteela Pokémon GO raid counters. Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard Y, Blacephalon and Shadow Heatran can also deal excellent damage.
Trainers without top-level Legendary, Shadow or Mega Pokémon can use Chandelure, Darmanitan, Magnezone, Electivire, Charizard or ordinary Raikou.
Several recommended attacks, including Wildbolt Storm, Blast Burn, Mind Blown, Magma Storm, Fusion Flare and Fusion Bolt, may require an Elite Charged TM when they are unavailable through regular TMs.
Check the attacks on each Pokémon before entering the raid. An Electric or Fire-type Pokémon will not perform effectively if it has attacks belonging to another type.
How Many Trainers Are Needed to Beat Celesteela?
Celesteela has balanced defensive stats and does not have a double weakness. This makes the raid more demanding than some other Ultra Beast battles.
A highly prepared pair of Trainers may be able to defeat Celesteela using exceptional counters, suitable weather and friendship bonuses. Most players should aim for a larger group.
| Group size | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| One Trainer | Not normally possible |
| Two Trainers | Difficult and requires exceptional teams |
| Three Trainers | Achievable with strong counters |
| Four or five | Recommended for most groups |
A larger Celesteela Pokémon GO raid group may be needed when counters are underlevelled, players are joining remotely or friendship bonuses are unavailable.
Party Power, Mega Evolution bonuses, weather boosts and high friendship levels can make the battle considerably easier.
Celesteela Pokémon GO Perfect IV CP
The perfect IV Celesteela Pokémon GO catch values are:
| Encounter conditions | Perfect IV CP |
|---|---|
| Level 20 without weather boost | 1,772 CP |
| Level 25 with Snowy or Windy weather | 2,216 CP |
The standard non-weather-boosted Celesteela raid catch range is 1,694 CP to 1,772 CP.
During Snowy or Windy weather, Celesteela can be encountered between 2,117 CP and 2,216 CP.
A Celesteela caught at 1,772 CP or 2,216 CP under the corresponding conditions will have perfect 15/15/15 IVs.
Celesteela has an unusual position on the catch screen because of its enormous height. Use Golden Razz Berries and practise the throw distance before attempting repeated Excellent Curveball Throws.
Best Celesteela Pokémon GO Moveset
The best Celesteela Pokémon GO moveset for general raid damage is:
- Fast Attack: Air Slash
- Charged Attack: Heavy Slam
Celesteela can use the following attacks:
Fast Attacks
- Air Slash
- Smack Down
Charged Attacks
- Heavy Slam
- Iron Head
- Body Slam
- Bulldoze
Air Slash and Heavy Slam produce Celesteela’s highest overall damage combination, although the two attacks do not belong to the same type.
Smack Down and Heavy Slam are sometimes recommended when Celesteela is treated as a Steel attacker. However, Smack Down is a Rock-type move, meaning Celesteela lacks a complete Steel-type raid moveset.
Celesteela also lacks a Flying-type Charged Attack. Air Slash therefore cannot be paired with a matching Flying Charged Attack for dedicated Flying-type raid damage.
For PvP, Air Slash, Body Slam and either Iron Head or Bulldoze provide a more practical combination.
Is Celesteela Good in Pokémon GO Raids?
Celesteela is not considered a strong raid attacker.
Its stats are reasonably balanced and its Steel and Flying typing provides excellent defensive value. However, raid battles reward high damage output, and the Celesteela Pokémon GO moveset does not allow it to perform properly as either a Steel or Flying attacker.
Celesteela lacks:
- A Steel-type Fast Attack
- A Flying-type Charged Attack
- The Attack stat needed to compete with top raid attackers
Stronger Steel attackers include Dusk Mane Necrozma, Crowned Sword Zacian, Metagross and Shadow Excadrill.
Stronger Flying attackers include Mega Rayquaza, Rayquaza, Yveltal, Moltres and Staraptor.
Celesteela can still be used when a Trainer lacks alternatives, but it should not normally receive large amounts of Rare Candy or Stardust for raid purposes.
Is Celesteela Good in PvP?
Celesteela has more potential in PvP than it does in raids.
Its defensive typing gives it numerous resistances, while Body Slam provides relatively inexpensive Charged Attack pressure.
A recommended Celesteela Pokémon GO PvP moveset is:
- Fast Attack: Air Slash
- Charged Attack: Body Slam
- Second Charged Attack: Iron Head or Bulldoze
Iron Head benefits from the same-type attack bonus and threatens Fairy, Ice and Rock Pokémon. Bulldoze provides coverage against Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock and Steel-type opponents.
Celesteela can struggle against Electric and Fire Pokémon, while its attacks are not powerful enough to make it a dominant open-league choice.
It is best treated as a specialist or limited-cup option rather than an essential Great League, Ultra League or Master League investment.
What Is Celesteela?
Celesteela is an Ultra Beast introduced in Generation VII. It is known by the code name UB-04 Blaster and resembles a combination of a rocket, bamboo plant and traditional Japanese princess.
Celesteela can absorb nutrients from the ground and release flammable gas from its arms. This allows it to launch itself into the air like a spacecraft.
One of the dangerous UBs, high energy readings can be detected coming from both of its huge arms.
Base stat total: 570
Is Celesteela Pokémon GO Worth Raiding?
Celesteela Pokémon GO raids are worth completing for the Pokédex entry, shiny chance, Celesteela Candy and regional collection value.
Celesteela is not a priority raid attacker because its available moves do not properly support either of its types. Trainers with established Steel and Flying teams do not need to invest heavily in it.
Collectors may still want to raid for shiny Celesteela, perfect IVs or additional Candy. Its usual Southern Hemisphere availability can also make worldwide and Remote Raid appearances particularly valuable.
