BTD6 Purple Bloons resist energy, fire and plasma damage. If a group slips straight past your lasers or certain spells, add a tower with a compatible attack, such as an ordinary Dart Monkey or a Ninja Monkey throwing shurikens.
Purple first appears on standard round 25. It isn’t immune to the whole Magic category. A Ninja is a Magic-category tower, but its basic sharp shurikens can still pop Purple. The attack type, not the menu category, decides what works.
BTD6 Purple Bloons: What are they immune to?

Lasers, many energy attacks, fire and plasma are the important weaknesses to watch for. Adding damage to an attack Purple already resists won’t solve the problem. Put something with a compatible damage type on the track instead.
A single tower can have different attacks after upgrades or through abilities. That’s why a blanket list of ‘all Wizards fail’ or ‘all Magic Monkeys work’ is unreliable. Check which projectile is actually hitting the Purple layer.
For BTD6 Purple Bloons, the simplest fix is usually a cheap compatible attacker alongside your more specialised towers. You don’t have to rebuild everything because one type of Bloon has shown up.
Which monkeys can pop BTD6 Purple Bloons?
Ordinary Dart Monkey darts and Ninja Monkey shurikens are easy early counters. Their basic sharp attacks aren’t blocked by Purple’s energy, fire and plasma resistances. Give them enough coverage to keep up with groups.
A Wizard, Super Monkey or other expensive tower may still be valuable against the rest of the wave. Add a separate attacker for the Purple layer instead of selling everything, or check whether a specific upgrade gives the tower a suitable secondary attack.
This BTD6 Purple Bloons fix is about picking the right damage, not automatically buying a fifth-tier tower. Even basic compatible attacks can deal with the early Purple layer, provided they fire often enough and have enough pierce for the size of the group.
Why don’t all Magic Monkeys fail?
The Magic category covers monkeys with different attacks. Ninja shurikens are sharp, for example. You need to look at damage type rather than assuming a monkey’s shop category tells you what it can pop.
For BTD6 Purple Bloons, check the damage actually being used. A tower that relies on a resistant energy or fire effect may do little or nothing against Purple, while another tower in the same shop category can hit it normally.
BTD6 Purple Bloons: What changes with Camo Purple?
Camo Purple needs both detection and a Purple-compatible attack. A basic Dart Monkey can damage Purple but won’t target a Camo one without an appropriate upgrade or support. A Ninja can see Camo naturally.
If your tower never shoots, make sure it can see the Camo property first. If it shoots but Purple doesn’t take damage, check the attack type. Our Camo guide covers the targeting side.
Why is my laser-heavy defence leaking Purple?
A row of laser towers can look powerful while sharing the same weakness. Put a normal sharp attacker where it covers the same part of the track, so it deals with Purple and the lasers handle their usual targets.
Some upgrades can change or bypass an attack’s usual restrictions, so check the version and exact upgrade before spending. For BTD6 Purple Bloons, a different damage type is usually a better first move than blindly upgrading an ineffective one.
What other Bloon immunities should you prepare for?
Purple is only one early example. Lead resists normal sharp attacks, while Black resists explosives and White resists freezing. A balanced defence handles these different checks instead of relying entirely on a single source of damage.
See our Lead guide and Black and White Bloons guide for those counters. One tower that pops Purple won’t automatically solve Lead, Camo or every special property later in the run.
To deal with BTD6 Purple Bloons, keep a compatible non-energy attack in your defence, add Camo detection when needed and check individual upgrades rather than assuming all magic attacks are alike.
