BTD6 Monkey Knowledge gives you permanent account bonuses. For early maps, Bonus Monkey and More Cash are particularly useful because they make the opening rounds easier. Mana Shield and Pre-Game Prep can help with leaks, but you must unlock the required earlier nodes first.
Don’t follow an old point-by-point route without checking today’s Knowledge tree. Some nodes cost Monkey Money as well as Knowledge Points, and none of the bonuses work in CHIMPS. Update 57 also lets you turn individual purchased points on or off.
BTD6 Monkey Knowledge: How do you earn Knowledge Points?

You earn Knowledge Points as your account levels up, with some also awarded by achievements. That’s separate from the XP used to unlock upgrades for a particular monkey. Playing a Ninja-heavy match doesn’t directly award a Magic Knowledge Point.
Open Monkey Knowledge to see your unspent points and six branches: Primary, Military, Magic, Support, Heroes and Powers. Look at the connections before picking a destination. Some deeper perks have requirements and an extra Monkey Money price.
Which BTD6 Monkey Knowledge should beginners buy first?
Bonus Monkey provides a free starting Dart Monkey. That’s a useful way to save opening cash on ordinary maps while you’re learning placements. You won’t see it as an immediate first-point purchase on a new account; follow its prerequisite nodes.
More Cash gives you extra starting money in modes where Knowledge is enabled. That can be the difference between buying a useful early upgrade and waiting another round. It doesn’t override CHIMPS rules.
Mana Shield gives you a buffer for small leaks in eligible games. Pre-Game Prep provides track protection before the first round. Both help while you’re learning, but neither replaces Camo detection or the correct damage type against Lead.
Is there one best BTD6 Monkey Knowledge path?
There isn’t one best tree for everyone. If your early defence keeps leaking, extra starting resources and protection are sensible. If you’re playing around a particular hero or specialist tower, look at that branch instead. Spend points on the games you’re actually playing.
Before committing, check the connected nodes and any Monkey Money requirement on the current screen. The exact path matters more than an old screenshot showing a different unlock order. You can plan ahead without buying every perk along the way blindly.
How the version 57 Monkey Knowledge toggle works
In Update 57, you can switch individual owned Knowledge points on or off. The main control can show On, Off or Partly On, so you can tell when only some of your purchased bonuses are active.
Switching a point off doesn’t refund it. You’ve still bought that perk; you’re only choosing not to apply its benefit. This makes it easier to test a strategy without More Cash or another bonus and then turn it back on later.
If a tutorial assumes no Knowledge, check which purchased perks are enabled before starting. Even one extra starting bonus can make the opening cash or layout look different from the guide you’re following.
BTD6 Monkey Knowledge: CHIMPS restrictions
No. CHIMPS disables Monkey Knowledge regardless of how many points you’ve earned. You can’t use Bonus Monkey or More Cash there. Build your CHIMPS strategy around the mode’s actual starting conditions.
For other game modes, the BTD6 Monkey Knowledge bonuses can make early runs more comfortable. If you are struggling with the first 40 rounds, our beginner guide covers Camo, Lead and the first MOAB without assuming a fully developed Knowledge tree.
How should you spend your next point?
When you’re unsure what to buy next, think about why you’re losing. More starting cash can help you set up, but it won’t make a Dart Monkey see Camo. For that you’ll need a detection upgrade or another tower, as explained in our Camo guide.
For BTD6 Monkey Knowledge, start with bonuses you’ll use frequently, read the prerequisites, and use the new toggles when practising without them. That’s more useful than rushing a deep perk because someone else called it mandatory.
