Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update covers seven changes announced on 2 November. The Explorer Gadget now catches and spins while you’re playing, there’s a faster Appraise button, and Power Spots no longer trigger their old special wild encounters when visited or when a Pokémon is stationed after a Max Battle. Catch summaries, encounter rings, PokéStop colours, and Mystery Box and Coin Bag effects have also been updated.
Most of the changes make everyday play a little clearer. The important gameplay exceptions are active-play Gadget catching and the Power Spot encounter rule. Here’s the full Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update, with the difference between each change and the old behaviour, plus which settings and guides you actually need.
All Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update changes in one table

These are the seven changes published by Pokémon GO. They’re gameplay and visual updates, not a new event with a ticket or special research. The Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update includes both the new Gadget controls and improvements that appear automatically in normal play.
| Feature | November change |
|---|---|
| Explorer Gadget | Active-play catches and spins, pink target marker, brief manual override |
| Catch Summary | Clearer catch bonuses and rewards on the results screen |
| Appraise | Dedicated button above Additional Options |
| Power Spots | No special wild encounter from visiting or placing Pokémon after a Max Battle |
| Lures and Routes | Updated rings around affected wild encounters |
| PokéStops | More contrast between spun and unspun stops |
| Mystery Box and Coin Bag | Refreshed encounter visual effects |
The Explorer Gadget now works while you’re playing
Eligible Trainers at level 20 and above can activate the Gadget from the top-right of Map View or from Item Bag → Key Items. It continues attempting eligible catches and PokéStop spins when the app is off screen, but it now does so while you’re playing too.
A pink Poké Ball appears over a Pokémon or PokéStop the Gadget is trying to handle. Tap the target promptly if you want to catch or spin it yourself. The override window is short. The Gadget still skips mighty Pokémon and unregistered Pokédex entries and cannot run at the same time as Pokémon GO Plus+. For more, see our Explorer Gadget overview, activation guide and missing-icon fixes.
Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update: the Appraise button and Catch Summary
There’s a dedicated Appraise button on a Pokémon’s summary screen, positioned directly above Additional Options. It saves extra taps when you want to check a Pokémon’s IVs. The appraisal values themselves haven’t been announced as changing.
The redesigned Catch Summary makes the rewards and catch bonuses easier to read. That’s a clearer display of the results, not a newly announced Candy, Stardust or Shiny-rate bonus. In the Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update, these are interface improvements rather than extra rewards.
Power Spots no longer generate those special wild encounters
Visiting a Power Spot, or placing a Pokémon there after winning a Max Battle, no longer triggers a special wild encounter around that Power Spot. Pokémon GO says this was changed to make wild encounters more consistent. The old advice to station a Pokémon for that bonus spawn is outdated.
Power Spots haven’t been removed, and Max Battles still exist. You can continue visiting Power Spots for their usual gameplay. The November rule removes that specific trigger for bonus wild Pokémon; it does not say every Pokémon near a Power Spot has disappeared.

Lure and Route rings, PokéStop contrast and visual effects
Pokémon attracted by Lure Modules and those met while exploring a Route have updated encounter-ring visuals. Spun PokéStops also have different colour saturation, making them easier to distinguish from stops you haven’t spun yet. None of those visual changes is described as an increase in spawns or catch odds.
Pokémon attracted by the Mystery Box and Coin Bag now have refreshed effects around them. The announcement doesn’t change their activation requirements or guarantee different encounters. These are presentation updates, not a new method for farming those items.
How the November changes differ from October
The Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update is separate from our October 2026 roundup. October’s update changed Zygarde Cell Route rewards, Weather and Compass controls, transfer warnings for perfect-IV Pokémon, map spacing and Community Ambassador check-ins. The November announcement covers a different set of features.
Do you need to activate the Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update?
Only the Explorer Gadget requires you to select Use in its own control. The Appraise button, contrast changes and Power Spot encounter rule aren’t described as optional toggles. Pokémon GO has not named a universal app-version number for these changes, or said that every level-20 account has completed the Gadget rollout worldwide.
If the Gadget isn’t appearing, check Key Items and any active GO Plus+ connection. For the rest of the Pokémon GO November 2026 Quality of Life Update, the main change is simply where you look and what you expect to happen during normal play: a faster appraisal, clearer encounter visuals and no longer getting that old special encounter from visiting or stationing at a Power Spot.
