Farming Simulator 25 alpacas need a suitable barn, grass or hay and regular walks to stay happy. You’ll shear their fleece once a year in spring, then sell it or send it to the spinnery. Unlike sheep, alpacas don’t automatically produce wool pallets without a shearing session.
The Beans & Alpacas Expansion adds four alpaca colours and a hands-on shearing activity. Breeding is possible when an alpaca is at least 14 months old, has 100% health and there’s space for another animal. GIANTS Software has confirmed the care routine, so you can plan an alpaca farm without guessing about feed or breeding conditions.
How to get Farming Simulator 25 alpacas

Start by placing alpaca housing, then purchase animals from the livestock menu. Choose from white, grey, brown and fawn coats. These colours don’t change the amount of fleece or give different breeding bonuses. Young alpacas begin with less developed coats, which grow as they get older.
Pick housing with a barn area for shearing. When spring arrives, you’ll need to lead each alpaca inside for the minigame, so an entrance with enough room to manoeuvre helps. If you’re transporting animals yourself, select a trailer marked with the alpaca icon in the shop. Some larger trailers also require a truck or dolly.
Farming Simulator 25 alpacas food: grass or hay?
Alpacas accept two types of feed: grass gives 60% effectiveness and hay gives 100%. Hay is the better option for maximum feeding effectiveness. Available meadow grass can contribute to the feed supply, so check the animal screen before buying additional bales.
Use a bale spike and suitable loader to handle hay bales, and keep the feeding area supplied. The animal tab shows whether the animals have the food they need. If you’re trying to raise fleece production, feeding is only part of the routine; happiness also affects the amount collected during shearing.
How often should you walk alpacas?
Get a leash, approach an alpaca and take it for a walk. GIANTS says that with standard time settings, this is needed once per day. With a calendar set to twelve days per year, the requirement changes to once per month.
Walking increases happiness, which influences how much fleece an alpaca provides. The Farming Simulator 25 alpacas care routine is therefore more involved than filling a trough and waiting for a pallet. Check their happiness in the animal menu, particularly before the spring shearing period.
How to breed Farming Simulator 25 alpacas
There are three breeding conditions: each animal must be at least 14 months old, health must be at 100%, and the pen or barn needs an empty slot for another alpaca. Good feeding helps maintain health, while free capacity allows a new animal to arrive.
If breeding isn’t happening, check the age, health and available spaces first. The colour of the alpaca is cosmetic, not an additional breeding requirement. GIANTS does not specify an exact universal reproduction countdown in its Academy tutorial, so don’t plan purchases around an invented number of days.
How to shear Farming Simulator 25 alpacas in spring
Alpacas can be sheared once in spring each game year. Lead an animal into the barn with the leash and use the shearing tool to begin the minigame. Work carefully rather than racing the machine; overly fast shearing can overload it. Repeat for the other animals that are ready.
You can hire a worker to shear for a fee instead. After an animal is sheared, a pallet of alpaca fleece appears next to the barn. Move the pallet using a loader with pallet forks and decide whether to sell it directly or deliver it for processing.
What do you do with alpaca fleece?
The Spinnery turns fleece into Alpaca Wool. From there, the Tailor Shop makes Alpaca Plush, Pillows and Socks, while Carpentry produces Alpaca Chairs and Stools. The production chains guide shows how those workshops fit with the coffee and banana businesses on Catuaí.
For more on owning the expansion, see our Beans and Alpacas overview. You can also try growing coffee cherries or bananas between the alpaca care jobs. The routine for Farming Simulator 25 alpacas is feeding, walking, keeping housing capacity free and shearing in spring.
