Fortnite Fortune Sprites reveal nearby Chests and give collectors a new version of an existing Sprite to find. The Fortune variant arrived in Treasure Hunters on November 1, 2026, adding a useful chest-finding effect to the familiar Sprite system.
A Fortune variant keeps its companion’s original power and adds chest detection. That makes the companion you choose just as important as the variant you find. Once you’ve picked one up, you’ll need to extract it to keep it for future matches.
How to Find Fortnite Fortune Sprites
Wanted Posters are the main Sprite-hunting route Epic introduced with Treasure Hunters. Look for a poster on a wall, pull it down to turn it into a Sprite Treasure Map, and follow the map to buried loot. Dig up the Sprite Chest and open it to see what you have found.
- Search buildings and named areas for Wanted Posters.
- Tear a poster down to get its Sprite Treasure Map.
- Follow the marked location and dig up the buried Sprite Chest.
- Check which companion and variant are inside.
- Extract a Fortune Sprite you want to keep before risking another fight.
Sprite Chests can give you a new companion, but a Wanted Poster doesn’t promise a Fortune variant. You can also find Sprites in regular Chests while looting the Island. Check the name and finish of each Sprite before heading to an Extraction Site.

What Do Fortnite Fortune Sprites Actually Do?
The Fortune perk reveals nearby Chests, which is handy when you’re searching buildings or doubling back through an area for loot. It doesn’t open a Chest for you or change the rewards inside it. Fortnite Fortune Sprites help you spot the Chests in the first place.
When choosing between Fortnite Fortune Sprites, start with each companion’s base ability. Here are three worth knowing about, with their regular powers confirmed in Epic’s update notes:
| Companion | Base power | Fortune effect |
|---|---|---|
| Exmarks | Reveals nearby Wanted Posters and Treasure Maps. Produces a Treasure Map at maximum level. | Reveals nearby Chests. |
| Wayfinder | Reveals nearby Sprites and adds loot from Buried Chests. | Reveals nearby Chests. |
| Chester | Can give extra Chest loot and prevents fall damage. | Reveals nearby Chests. |
Fortune Exmarks is a strong option if you’re looking for more Sprite Chests: its ordinary ability identifies the posters and maps that lead to them, while Fortune points out Chests nearby. Fortune Wayfinder has a different appeal because Wayfinder detects Sprites themselves. Chester is geared more towards opening Chests and travelling without fall damage.

Which Fortune Sprite Is Best for Collecting?
For collecting more Sprites, Exmarks and Wayfinder are the standouts. Exmarks spots the posters and maps that lead to buried Sprite Chests, while Wayfinder reveals nearby Sprites. Add the Fortune effect and you’ll also see nearby Chests. For a chest-looting run, Chester’s extra loot chance and fall protection are more relevant.
For the exact base powers, see our Exmarks Sprite guide, Wayfinder Sprite guide and Chester Sprite guide. If you’re doing the matching weekly objective, our Wanted Posters quest walkthrough covers digging up Sprite Chests.
How to Bank Fortnite Fortune Sprites After Finding One
Finding a Sprite in a match isn’t the same as keeping it. The Sprite system allows you to bank a companion through extraction. At an Extraction Site you have to hold your position until the process completes. A Portable Extractor can instead extract the equipped Sprite wherever that Gizmo can be used in your match.
Banking adds the Sprite to your collection so you can summon it in later matches using Sprite Dust. If you are eliminated before extraction, it can be left on the battlefield for another player to take. When you’ve found a rare version you want, head for safety rather than searching one more building.
Which Fortnite Fortune Sprites Are in the Collection?
Epic introduced 11 base companions for Treasure Hunters and confirmed Fortune and Cursed as variant types. Not every variant shown in a collection or tracker is necessarily available to find in a match on November 2. Open the numbered Sprites screen in Fortnite to check the entries in your collection and the specific variant you’re hunting.
Our Treasure Hunters Sprites guide explains the 11 original powers and the seasonal collection. Fortnite Fortune Sprites have separate variant entries, so check the full name when deciding which one you still need.
Do Fortnite Fortune Sprites Improve Pirate Shop Drops?
Fortune shows you where Chests are. It doesn’t raise the Pirate Shop token drop rate or make rare rewards more likely. Even if your Fortune Sprite helps you open more Chests on a run, the chances of finding a particular reward are a separate matter.
For the specific shop reward and its chest hunt, use our Pirate Shop drop-rate guide rather than treating Fortune as a proven reward multiplier.
