The Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount gives existing Nintendo Switch owners of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a reduced price on the digital Switch 2 Definitive Edition. Nintendo confirms the offer for the new game, releasing 25 February 2027.
It is not a free update or a regular Switch 2 upgrade pack. You are buying a different, standalone game at a discounted price. The public UK listing does not state the exact percentage or a universal checkout price for every eligible Nintendo Account.
Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount: which owners qualify?

Nintendo says people who already own Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity on Nintendo Switch can purchase the new digital version for less through Nintendo eShop. It does not explain precisely how ownership will be checked for each physical or digital buyer, so avoid assuming every account will display the same price before signing in.
The Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount is based on owning the original game, not your playtime or campaign progress. Nintendo hasn’t named a story milestone or achievement as an eligibility condition. What matters is having the original purchase recognised when you view the new digital edition.
Is this a Switch 2 upgrade pack?
No. Definitive Edition is a separate Nintendo Switch 2 release that includes the original adventure, the Expansion Pass content and new features. Buying it at a reduced price is different from purchasing an upgrade pack that extends your old Switch software.
Your old cartridge still plays the original Switch game, including on Switch 2 through backwards compatibility. It does not turn into Definitive Edition when you claim the Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount. The offer reduces the price of a separate digital game, with its own features and licence.
How much is the discounted Switch 2 edition?
Nintendo’s UK listing confirms the offer without displaying a universal discounted pound amount. A percentage from another country’s store isn’t a reliable UK quote either. The amount that matters is the eligible price shown when you are signed in, with your Nintendo Account country set correctly.
Nintendo’s update 1.4.1 for the original game added a Proceed to Nintendo eShop option to its title screen. You can also check the Definitive Edition listing while signed into the account used for your original digital purchase. The Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount is confirmed, but Nintendo has not established that this new title-screen shortcut automatically applies the offer for every account or physical cartridge. Confirm the price before purchasing.
The full physical game’s retail price is not the same thing as the discounted digital price. If you own the original on cartridge, keep that distinction in mind rather than assuming a retailer’s price label reflects the owner-specific eShop offer.
What happens to your save data?
Nintendo confirms you can take the original Age of Calamity save forward to Definitive Edition. However, progress created in Definitive Edition cannot be used in the original Switch game. It is a one-way compatibility promise, not two-way save synchronisation.
Your save transfer is separate from the Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount. Buying the new title does not itself prove that your campaign progress has already been converted. Nintendo’s official product information does not describe the complete game-specific import menu yet, so check the import instructions before moving or overwriting anything.
What do you get for paying again?
The new edition includes the original game and Expansion Pass DLC, better resolution and frame rate, tougher Calamity Mode battles and GameShare support. This is much more than a small visual patch, although Nintendo has not given exact 4K or frames-per-second performance numbers.
Your old Switch Expansion Pass licence does not carry into the new title as a compatible add-on, but the content itself is already included. This is an important part of understanding the Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount: eligible owners buy the complete Switch 2 package, rather than paying for the base game and then adding the original DLC again.
When can you purchase the discounted edition?
The digital edition is available to pre-order ahead of 25 February 2027. The Age of Calamity Definitive Edition upgrade discount makes it worth checking your own eligible eShop offer rather than paying the standard price on the assumption you can request a refund of the difference later.
