WoW Midnight Eclipse Update is Patch 12.2, the final major content update for Midnight, and Blizzard says it is coming in early 2027. Eclipse sends players deep into Azeroth through the new Mantle Vault zone as Xal’atath moves toward the Worldcore and attempts to become one with the Worldsoul itself.

The Mantle Vault

The Mantle Vault is a new zone deep inside Azeroth, described as an ancient place of Titan origin that has remained sealed for thousands of years. It becomes the central setting for the final Midnight campaign against Xal’atath.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update uses this underground region to shift the expansion away from the surface conflict around Quel’Thalas and directly toward Azeroth’s core.

The Gearhold lair

The Gearhold is a new lair located within the Mantle Vault. Blizzard has not yet published the full boss and reward table, but it is part of the zone’s endgame structure rather than a separate levelling dungeon.

The lair joins a larger package of repeatable world content designed to keep the Mantle Vault relevant between story chapters and raid nights.

Radiant Core Renown

Players earn reputation through the new Radiant Core Renown track while exploring Eclipse content. Renown provides a structured progression path through the zone rather than leaving every reward tied to raid drops.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update can therefore reward world-focused players even if they are not pushing the hardest version of Worldcore.

Radiant Screams events

Radiant Screams are flexible, zone-wide events that erupt throughout the Mantle Vault. Blizzard says they support different group sizes and offer unique rewards.

That flexibility suggests players will not need a fixed raid group simply to participate. The system is closer to a shared world event layer woven into the zone’s ongoing conflict.

Worldcore raid

Worldcore is the new eight-boss raid and the main PvE climax of Midnight. Players fight through Xal’atath’s strongest lieutenants and the defences protecting Azeroth’s core before confronting her directly.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update is explicitly building toward this showdown, making Worldcore the raid that closes the major Midnight raid story rather than another side threat.

Thraegar’s Stand

Thraegar’s Stand is a new three-boss dungeon arriving with Eclipse. It also joins the Season 3 Mythic+ pool alongside returning dungeons from several older expansions.

The wider Season 3 pool includes Magister’s Terrace, Maisara Cavern, Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, Stonecore and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr in addition to the new dungeon.

Midnight’s Edge legendary dagger

Eclipse introduces Midnight’s Edge, a legendary caster dagger and the first legendary weapon of the Worldsoul Saga. Its questline begins after conquering the Worldcore raid.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update therefore gives caster players a long-term legendary chase tied directly to the patch’s main raid instead of only offering another seasonal item-level ladder.

Season 3 Delves and new Paladins

Astalor Bloodsworn becomes the Season 3 Delve nemesis after spending Midnight assigning targets through the Prey system. Blizzard is turning that familiar ally relationship into a confrontation.

Night Elves, Forsaken and Darkspear Trolls are also gaining access to Paladin, expanding race-and-class combinations as Midnight moves toward its conclusion.

How Season 3 fits together

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update begins a new seasonal loop across raid, Mythic+, Delves and the Mantle Vault rather than treating the story patch as a one-and-done campaign. Players can move between Radiant Core Renown, Radiant Screams, Thraegar’s Stand and Worldcore depending on the kind of progression they prefer.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update also gives returning players several parallel goals instead of requiring immediate raid commitment. World content advances Renown, the dungeon feeds the Mythic+ season, Astalor anchors Delves and Worldcore carries the main raid climax.

The result is that WoW Midnight Eclipse Update functions as both Midnight’s ending and a complete Season 3 package, with its systems designed to remain relevant for the months leading into the next expansion chapter.

When does Patch 12.2 release?

Blizzard currently says early 2027 and has not announced an exact launch day. That window is enough to plan the broad season transition but not enough to schedule raid release dates or Mythic+ cut-offs yet.

WoW Midnight Eclipse Update is unusually important because it is not simply the next content patch: it is the final major Midnight chapter and the bridge into The Last Titan. The Worldcore outcome should define where the Worldsoul Saga goes next.
