Street Fighter V Servers Down: Capcom has taken the game’s online services offline on PS4 and Steam for emergency security maintenance. That means Ranked Matches, Casual Matches and Battle Lounges are unavailable, but existing owners can still play offline.
The outage was announced on October 27, 2026, with no date given for matchmaking to return. Capcom is also temporarily suspending sales through the PlayStation Store and Steam. Here’s what the outage affects, what still works and where to look for a genuine restoration update.
Are Street Fighter V Servers Down on PS4 and Steam?

Yes. Capcom confirms that content requiring an online connection is unavailable in both versions. If you can’t find a Ranked opponent, join a Battle Lounge or access Capcom Fighters Network (CFN), that is consistent with the publisher’s service suspension. There is no scheduled restart time.
This notice covers Street Fighter V. Capcom hasn’t announced an outage of Street Fighter 6 or the whole PlayStation Network. If your other PS4 games are failing too, our PSN status guide explains how to check for a separate platform problem.
Why Are Street Fighter V Servers Down?
Capcom says the emergency work concerns security improvements relating to PHP, a programming language used by software associated with the game. The notice doesn’t explain the underlying vulnerability or what the engineers must change before restoring services.
The notice does not report a player-data breach or claim that individual Capcom accounts have been compromised. Security maintenance alone is not proof that your own computer or console is infected.
Changing DNS, opening router ports or disabling a firewall will not switch Capcom’s online services back on. Reinstalling the game isn’t a fix for this publisher-side interruption, either. Street Fighter V Servers Down is a status issue to monitor, not a reason to change your router configuration.
Street Fighter V Servers Down: Which Modes Are Affected?
Capcom has disabled content requiring online functionality. According to the official Street Fighter V manual, that includes:
- Ranked Matches: online matchmaking and League Point fights.
- Casual Matches: searching for unranked online opponents.
- Battle Lounge: creating or entering multiplayer rooms.
- Capcom Fighters Network: connected fighter profiles, online rankings and replays.
- Other network features: activities such as online Missions, Extra Battle content and network shop services.
These online services are all affected by the maintenance, and Capcom hasn’t provided individual restoration times for them. Getting a connection error when you try matchmaking does not, by itself, mean you’ve received a penalty or account ban.
Street Fighter V Servers Down: What Still Works Offline?
Capcom explicitly says offline content is still playable. Existing owners can keep using the offline options they already have installed. Its official manual describes:
- Arcade Mode: fight CPU opponents in arcade routes. You won’t be able to submit scores to online rankings.
- Story Mode: play character stories and tutorials. The longer A Shadow Falls story must already have been downloaded if you want to play it without connecting.
- Training: practise moves, combos and defence against a dummy.
- Local Versus: play against a friend with two controllers or fight the CPU. Local Team Battle also works if your installed version includes it.
- Survival, Trials and Demonstrations: use the offline challenges and lessons, but online-dependent scores and rewards won’t be recorded.
So if Training works but Ranked doesn’t, your game may be behaving exactly as expected during the outage. Missions and Extra Battle are not offline alternatives: Capcom’s manual says both need internet access. The offline modes remain worth playing, but don’t expect connected rewards to be granted.
If Street Fighter V won’t launch at all, rather than simply refusing to connect online, that may be a separate installation or licence problem. The server notice does not describe the whole game as unplayable.
Street Fighter V Servers Down: Is This a Permanent Shutdown?
No permanent shutdown has been announced. Capcom calls the current work emergency maintenance and describes the sales suspension as temporary. It hasn’t said that Street Fighter V online support is ending forever or that existing purchases will be removed from libraries.
Having no return date can make the situation look worse than an ordinary outage. But Capcom says it is working on a fix, and it hasn’t announced that multiplayer is being retired for good. Street Fighter V Servers Down is a temporary maintenance status, not an official end-of-service announcement.
Why Are Street Fighter V Sales Being Suspended?
Capcom says it is suspending sales gradually on Steam and the PlayStation Store until the security work is finished. This is not an announcement that both stores removed every edition simultaneously. A listing may remain visible even as purchases become unavailable.
If you already own Street Fighter V, Capcom hasn’t announced that your copy will be taken away or that you’ll need to repurchase it. Offline play remains available. There’s also no date yet for new digital sales to resume.
Street Fighter V Servers Down: When Will Matchmaking Return?
There is no confirmed restoration time. As of October 28, Capcom’s notice still described emergency maintenance without a UK restart hour, end date or timetable for relisting the game. Any precise date circulating elsewhere needs a newer official statement to back it up.
To check whether Street Fighter V Servers Down has been resolved, watch Capcom’s official notice below. Once a restoration is announced, try connecting to CFN or starting a Casual Match. Until then, Arcade, Training and local Versus are your reliable options.
