Star Wars Zero Company BR-1: Best Build and Abilities

Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 is one of the strongest support options in the post-launch game because the astromech is built around AP, Utilities and teamwide efficiency rather than ordinary blaster damage. BR-1 can hand AP to allies with Built-In Comlink, carry multiple Utility Items and eventually support the whole squad with Coordinated Support.

The best Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 build prioritises Built-In Comlink first, then Coordinated Support and Extended Storage, before investing into Analytics tools such as Self Preservation, Telemetry or Deep Target Scan. The goal is to make every other Operator better rather than turn the droid into a conventional shooter.

How to unlock Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Reach Den Level 2 and build the Droid Repair Bay through the Upgrade Facility. Current post-launch guides place the construction cost at 2,000 Credits, with the facility becoming available early enough that BR-1 can join during the first part of a normal campaign.

Once the Droid Repair Bay is operational, speak with M-3VO and follow the droid-repair progression. Astromechs can also begin appearing through Recruitment after the facility is unlocked.

Best abilities for Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Ability Why it matters
Built-In Comlink Gives AP to an ally and directly improves action economy
Coordinated Support Large team AP support for high-value turns
Extended Storage Improves the number of Utility uses BR-1 can bring
Telemetry Adds teamwide Chance-to-Hit support
Self Preservation Improves BR-1’s AP economy when hit by reaction attacks
Deep Target Scan Provides targeted enemy analysis and setup

Built-In Comlink is the first priority because extra AP scales with the strongest action another character can take. One point handed to Kabb, Tel-Rea, Jae or a built Hawks can be more valuable than asking BR-1 to produce direct damage.

Built-In Comlink in the Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 build

Use Comlink on the Operator who is one AP short of completing the turn you actually want. That can mean another attack, movement into the objective, a rescue or the setup for an Advantage ability.

Do not hand AP out automatically at the start of every turn. Look at the full squad first and identify which character can convert that point into the largest tactical gain.

Coordinated Support in the Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 build

Coordinated Support is the bigger squad-facing payoff. It costs the shared resource, so use it on turns where several allies are still in position to benefit rather than when most of the squad has already acted.

The ability is particularly strong in objective turns where extra AP lets multiple Operators move, attack or interact before the enemy gets another round.

Best Utilities for Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Trauma Kit is an excellent support choice because BR-1 can carry Utility Items and the item improves Rally recovery. Other utility slots can be adapted to the mission, using healing, grenades or control tools depending on what the rest of the squad lacks.

Extended Storage makes this flexibility better by increasing the value you get from Utility Items. Treat BR-1 as the character who carries answers the other three Operators do not have room for.

Best secondary progression for Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Analytics is the natural support direction because scanning and team accuracy complement BR-1’s AP engine. Telemetry is valuable when the whole squad benefits from more reliable hits, while Deep Target Scan helps against priority targets.

Self Preservation can also be useful because BR-1 is not built to trade conventional weapon fire. Any passive that helps the droid survive and continue distributing AP protects the entire squad’s engine.

Best squad for Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

BR-1 fits best beside characters who convert extra AP into strong actions. Hawks, Jae and Kabb form a practical safe squad, while Tel-Rea is another excellent partner when Force control needs one more action to complete a sequence.

The droid is less valuable when the mission ends in one explosive turn and the whole team already has more AP than it can meaningfully spend. On long missions, rescue-heavy runs and dangerous campaign settings, BR-1 becomes much harder to replace.

Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 after Patch 1.2

EA’s October 15 update puts a limit on two Astromech abilities. Built-In Comlink can now be used only three times per turn at maximum rank. That blocks the old loop in which an Astromech granted itself AP and passed those points to teammates indefinitely, particularly in multiple-Astromech squads using Coordinated Support. Comlink is still one of the best support tools, but you now have to pick the three most useful transfers.

Self-Repair is limited to two uses per combat, and heals for an amount equal to the AP spent multiplied by 30%, 45% or 60%, depending on rank. Save those two uses for moments when the droid’s survival matters; don’t rely on repeated repairs to keep it alive through an entire mission. Self Preservation is a different support passive and is not listed as having been nerfed in the patch.

The Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 recommendation remains Built-In Comlink followed by Coordinated Support and Extended Storage, then Analytics support such as Telemetry and Deep Target Scan. The update reduces extreme AP loops, not the value of handing a point to a teammate who can convert it into a decisive action. For the complete rules, see EA’s official Patch 1.2 notes.

How to play Star Wars Zero Company BR-1

Keep BR-1 central enough to support the team but out of unnecessary danger. Use the first part of the turn to decide who needs AP, then spend Utilities and scanning tools around the real objective instead of chasing damage.

Star Wars Zero Company BR-1 is strongest when the droid makes the other three Operators more efficient. Prioritise Built-In Comlink, Coordinated Support and Storage, then use Analytics and flexible Utilities to turn BR-1 into the squad’s AP and support engine.
