Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper is the stronger ghost-ship boss summoned with Hallowed Flares during Requiem of the Lost 2026. It is separate from the regular Reaper of the Lost that appears after players sink enough Unhallowed ships. The Halloween event ends on November 3.
The Unbound Reaper’s barrier is the main obstacle. Ubisoft recommends Repair Weapons against ghost-ship barriers, and players fighting this boss in October 2026 say the same counter works here. They also describe a firewheel attack that can be interrupted by the Sunburst Firework, available from the shipwright in Sainte-Anne. The firework timing is current player-tested advice, rather than a detail supplied in Ubisoft’s short Halloween announcement.
How to summon Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper
- Join Requiem of the Lost, which runs until November 3, 2026.
- Collect Hallowed Flares from Unhallowed Roamers, the Reaper of the Lost or daily repeatable quests.
- Find the current Requiem summoning interaction and check the flare requirement shown by the game.
- Use your flares to start the Unbound Reaper encounter and prepare for its shielded attack phases.
- Defeat the boss, collect the loot and Reaper’s Toll you earn, then return to the event vendor if you’re saving for a reward.
You need Hallowed Flares to summon the boss, but Ubisoft has not published a 2026 flare cost. The ten-flare figure often repeated online comes from older event coverage. Check this year’s summon prompt before setting out to farm a particular number. Our Hallowed Flares guide covers the three confirmed sources.

How to beat Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper
When the Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper raises its shield, direct Repair Weapons at the barrier. October 2026 players report this breaks it more effectively than normal guns. In a group, make sure at least one captain can handle the shield instead of equipping every ship purely for damage.
Once the barrier is down, focus normal damage on the boss. If you’re in a group, don’t put every ship on damage duty and leave no one able to help with the shield. In World Tier 3, highly upgraded builds can sometimes destroy the boss so quickly that they bypass much of the intended shield cycle, but that is player-reported performance, not a guaranteed kill time.
Unbound Reaper attacks and how to counter them
During the firewheel attack, players report that using the Sunburst Firework interrupts the boss. They identify the shipwright at Sainte-Anne as a place to buy it. Equip the firework before the fight, then use it when the firewheel begins. One person in the group can be ready for the interrupt while the others handle damage and survival.
The boss has appeared in earlier Halloween events, but don’t rely on a fixed attack timer from a 2025 guide. Watch for the shield and firewheel, react to the current on-screen warnings and save your most damaging attacks for the moments when the barrier is down.
Keep space between your ship and the boss when attacks start, brace as needed, and have enough ammunition and supplies for a longer fight. That matters more in World Tier 4, where current players describe tougher barriers and aggro behaviour. Assign a ship to shield support if your party keeps stalling against the same phase.

Best World Tier for farming Unbound Reaper
For Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper, World Tier 4 is not automatically the fastest way to earn currency. In October 2026, players reported much longer fights in Tier 4, while some well-equipped Tier 3 builds killed the boss in under a minute. Those runs depend on ship, equipment and how many players join. Compare your own time per clear before assuming the highest tier is worth the extra effort.
The Haunted Reaper’s Cache isn’t a guaranteed drop on every clear. October 2026 players report finding chests in World Tier 4, but the number of runs needed varies considerably. A boss kill without a chest doesn’t mean that reward is unavailable.
Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper rewards in 2026
Ubisoft confirms that the Halloween boss activities earn Reaper’s Toll and that Drowning Hellion, an Epic Flooding Demi-Cannon, is a Requiem reward in Year 3 Season 2. Players also report Drowning Hellion drops and returning equipment in the current event. The exact loot can vary by World Tier and drop luck.
Drowning Hellion’s Sea’s Fury perk starts each volley with a 15% chance to deal severe Flooding damage and improves that chance as you land more hits, up to 75%. Its Flooding II perk adds 20% Flooding damage. The weapon is a stronger, verifiable target than a 2025 chest list.
If the Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper stops rendering properly, Ubisoft’s October 2026 known-issues notes include a report that it can go invisible. Avoid assuming this is an attack phase that requires a secret mechanic. Check the live bug reporter for an official update if the enemy disappears in your encounter.
What to do after defeating the boss
After your Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper kill, collect the reward drops and check how much Reaper’s Toll you earned. Then open the event shop and compare the current offers. The Reaper’s Toll guide explains the currency and reports from different World Tiers. If you still need a particular cosmetic, check the event’s November 3 end date in our 2026 event guide before scheduling another set of fights.
For Skull and Bones Unbound Reaper, bring a Repair Weapon for the barrier and use the Sunburst interrupt if your crew has it. Choose a World Tier you can clear efficiently. A much longer Tier 4 fight may not be worthwhile if you mainly want Reaper’s Toll.
