Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares: How to Get Them and Summon the Reaper

Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares are the special items used to summon the Unbound Reaper during Requiem of the Lost. In the 2026 event, Ubisoft confirms three ways to earn them: defeating Roamers, defeating the Reaper of the Lost and completing daily repeatable event quests.

If you’re planning an Unbound Reaper fight before November 3, you need Hallowed Flares, not Reaper’s Toll. The flares start the boss encounter. Toll is the separate event currency used to buy rewards at the Hallowed Gravestone or the in-game store.

How to get Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares in 2026

  1. Look for Unhallowed Roamers while Requiem of the Lost is active. These ghostly enemies are a confirmed source of Hallowed Flares.
  2. Fight the Reaper of the Lost after enough Unhallowed ships are sunk. Ubisoft lists this boss as another way to earn flares.
  3. Check your daily repeatable Requiem quests. Those are the third developer-confirmed flare source, and a useful place to start each day.
  4. Keep your Hallowed Flares for the summon interaction instead of mistaking them for currency to spend at the reward vendor.

The route is straightforward: fight the Unhallowed Roamers, help trigger the Reaper of the Lost and complete daily repeatable quests. Each of those activities is a source of Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares. Once you’ve collected enough, you can attempt the Unbound Reaper.

Where to use Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares

Hallowed Flares call the Unbound Reaper, not the first Reaper of the Lost. The returning encounter has previously used a marked event buoy. Ubisoft confirms that flares work in 2026, but its current announcement doesn’t specify an exact buoy location or name. Follow the Requiem event marker on your map and check the summon prompt there.

When your map shows the current Requiem summoning activity, approach that event interaction and read the displayed flare requirement before using it. If you’re following an older video, check that it shows the 2026 version of the event. Our Unbound Reaper guide explains what happens once the boss appears.

How many Hallowed Flares do you need to summon Unbound Reaper?

Ubisoft confirms the 2026 flare sources but does not state the exact number required for one summon. Some 2025 walkthroughs say ten flares. That old figure is not enough to establish this year’s cost. Check the in-game interaction before collecting a specific amount.

This is especially relevant if you’re gathering Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares in a group. Don’t promise other players that a single 2025 number still applies, or assume a summon is available until you’ve checked your own event inventory and the interaction.

Why aren’t I earning Hallowed Flares?

If Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares aren’t dropping, first make sure you’re taking part in Requiem of the Lost, not another naval event. Check whether you’re defeating Unhallowed Roamers, the Reaper of the Lost or a quest target that actually awards flares. The name of the drop matters: Reaper’s Toll is not interchangeable with a flare.

If a daily quest says it’s complete but your inventory hasn’t changed, check the quest’s listed reward and your flare balance. Ubisoft doesn’t promise one flare from every Roamer or give a fixed number per kill, so base your farming on the activities that actually award the item.

Are Repair Weapons needed to get Hallowed Flares?

Repair Weapons are useful against the Unhallowed ships’ barrier, which Ubisoft says they’re best at breaking. They’re not a separate requirement to receive Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares, because the daily repeatable quests are another confirmed source. Bring one if you’re fighting ghost ships and struggling with their protection.

Players fighting the Unbound Reaper in 2026 also report using Repair Weapons against the boss barrier itself. Some highly equipped groups can burn through the shield with conventional damage at lower World Tiers, but that doesn’t change Ubisoft’s description of Repair Weapons as the intended counter.

Best Hallowed Flares farming order

To farm Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares, start with an unfinished daily repeatable quest, which has a defined objective and reward. Then look for Unhallowed Roamers and help progress the Reaper of the Lost spawn. That gives you several opportunities for flares before you attempt another Unbound Reaper summon.

If your main goal is buying Halloween cosmetics, switch to the Reaper’s Toll farming guide rather than endlessly stockpiling summoning items. The Requiem of the Lost 2026 event guide has the November 3 deadline and current confirmed rewards.

For Skull and Bones Hallowed Flares, start with the dailies, take on Roamers and defeat the Reaper of the Lost. Save the flares you earn for the Unbound Reaper, and check the current summon cost rather than relying on a 2025 guide.
