SEVERANCE weekly challenges are a rotating set of 52 different objectives, with a new challenge becoming available each week. Sykes Games added the year-long rotation in update v0.9.1.0, and you can find the active challenge through the Weekly Challenge application on the lobby laptop.
A weekly challenge gives you an extra objective during an investigation, with a money reward for completing it. The October 28 hotfix addressed missing payouts for some players.
SEVERANCE weekly challenges: how to find the active task

Open the Weekly Challenge app on the lobby laptop. The old standalone screen was moved there during the September lobby redesign.
Open the app to check the objective for the current week, then choose a contract that lets you work towards it. The developer describes SEVERANCE weekly challenges as a continuous 52-challenge rotation rather than a fixed daily mission list.
The Contract app, Equipment Store, tutorial and match history also live on the laptop. Check the week’s objective before selecting your contract and gear.
How often do weekly challenges change?
A new challenge becomes available every week. There are 52 objectives in the rotation, covering a full year’s worth of weekly activities. Check the laptop at the beginning of a new week to see what you’re being asked to do before starting an investigation.
The task on screen is the useful target: work towards that objective rather than following an old list from a different week. SEVERANCE weekly challenges have been in the game since September 19, 2026, and the full Version 1.0 launch kept the system.
What kind of weekly challenge objectives are there?

Developer announcements have previously named challenges including The Perfect Nightmare and Paranormal Media. The latter encourages players to photograph paranormal activity; challenges add specific goals to the usual investigation and reward loop.
A weekly challenge isn’t the same as a side mission. Regular objectives include getting a ghost to step in Salt or stunning it with repellent. The rotating task is displayed separately on the laptop.
For SEVERANCE weekly challenges, read the instruction shown on the lobby laptop and plan your equipment around it. If a task concerns paranormal photographs, bring the Photo Camera; for other tasks, select tools that help you complete the named objective without giving up the equipment needed for ghost identification.
How do you earn rewards from SEVERANCE weekly challenges?
Complete the week’s objective and check your challenge completion and money reward after the investigation. The official October 28 update confirms that players are supposed to receive money for completing the weekly challenge, because it fixes a bug where some received no payout.
Version 1.0 changed the game’s economy. Read the reward shown for the current challenge rather than using an amount from an older screenshot.
Prestige and weekly tasks are separate systems. You can keep earning contract XP and money while pursuing the extra weekly objective.
SEVERANCE weekly challenge rewards not appearing
If you completed a challenge but received no money, update the game to at least v1.0.0.2 from October 28, 2026. Sykes Games specifically fixed a problem preventing some players from being paid after weekly challenge completion.
Check your balance and the Weekly Challenge app after the round. If a payout still fails on the updated build, use the in-game Bug Report tool, available through Esc or the lobby laptop. Include the challenge objective, completion session and whether match results appeared.
The SEVERANCE weekly challenges reward issue is different from the intentional Version 1.0 progress reset. That reset removed old money from Early Access. A newly completed weekly challenge failing to pay you after 1.0 is a separate issue.
Can you complete weekly challenges with friends?
SEVERANCE supports 1 to 5 players, including solo investigations and online co-op. Open or private multiplayer lobbies can be created through the lobby laptop, and you can play investigations with friends while working on the week’s task.
After playing with friends, check your own Weekly Challenge app and match results to see whether the objective registered and the reward was added.
Best way to keep up with SEVERANCE weekly challenges
Check the laptop before picking a contract, take equipment suited to the current task and complete the objective during a normal investigation whenever possible. Your progress towards new levels and better equipment can continue alongside challenge attempts.
The SEVERANCE weekly challenges rotation adds recurring reasons to return without changing the basic goal of identifying the ghost and surviving the contract. For the larger changes to rewards, equipment tiers and progression, read our SEVERANCE 1.0 patch notes.
