Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters is back from October 23 to 26, 2026, offering two Halloween hats during Season 21 Community Weekend. The Treater’s Prize Hat requires posting a Quest Board map leading to at least 10,000 Gold of buried treasure, while the Trickster’s Prize Hat uses a map hiding Gunpowder Barrels instead.
In Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters, these were community-wide goals. Qualifying maps had to be posted before the event ended on October 26; both goals were reached, but some eligible players did not initially receive their hats. Rare has now applied a delivery fix: eligible players should get their missing hat when they next set sail.
Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters: Both community goals

| Challenge | Qualifying Quest Board map | Possible hat |
|---|---|---|
| Treat Together | Buried treasure worth at least 10,000 Gold | Treater’s Prize Hat |
| Trick Together | Buried Gunpowder Barrels | Trickster’s Prize Hat |
Treat Together and Trick Together are separate goals, each with its own hat. Post at least one map containing the correct buried items for each challenge. Both community goals were reached. Players who qualified can receive both hats.
Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters: earn the Treater’s Prize Hat
For Treat Together, gather treasure worth 10,000 Gold or more, bury it on an island and submit the resulting treasure map to the Quest Board. Posting a map that only leads to inexpensive loot doesn’t meet the stated value threshold. Selling treasure to a Trading Company also isn’t the same thing as posting its buried location.
- Collect enough valuables to reach a combined 10,000 Gold value.
- Travel to an island where you can dig with a shovel and bury the treasure.
- Keep the buried-treasure map created by those digs.
- Visit an Outpost and find its Quest Board.
- Post the qualifying map during Community Weekend.
- Check Treat Together’s shared progress; the hat is awarded if the goal succeeds.
Treat Together is about leaving valuable buried treasure for another pirate to find. Once you’ve posted the map at the Quest Board, you don’t need to go back and dig it up yourself. Selling the loot instead won’t count towards posting a map.
Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters: earn the Trickster’s Prize Hat
The Trick Together version asks you to bury Gunpowder Barrels, then post a map to your explosive surprise. You don’t need a 10,000-Gold stash for this challenge. Collect a barrel, move it to a place where digging is allowed, bury it using your shovel and take the generated map to an Outpost Quest Board.
Posting at least one qualifying Gunpowder Barrel map makes you a contributor to Trick Together. The Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters worldwide goal was reached. If you contributed during the event and haven’t received the Trickster’s Prize Hat, use the missing-reward steps below.
Older Tricksters and Treaters guides may mention personal point targets and social-media tasks. This year’s version uses the Outpost Quest Board. The two actions that matter are posting a map for at least 10,000 Gold in buried treasure and posting a map that conceals Gunpowder Barrels.
Can you unlock both Trickster’s and Treater’s hats?

Yes. Take part in both tasks during the weekend. Bury treasure meeting the 10,000-Gold threshold and submit its map, then bury a Gunpowder Barrel and post that map separately. Both worldwide goals were met, so eligible players can receive the Treater’s Prize Hat and Trickster’s Prize Hat.
You can complete both tasks in the same session: bury valuables for a Treat Together map, then bury a Gunpowder Barrel for a Trick Together map. Post them separately, since one map doesn’t automatically count for both challenges.
Does completing Quest Board maps count towards the hats?
Completing a Quest Board map is the Pocket Pumpkin Emote task, not the same thing as posting a qualifying hat map. The emote requires five completed Quest Board maps during the weekend. Merely accepting them isn’t enough, and posting five of your own maps doesn’t replace those completions.
Our Pocket Pumpkin guide explains the personal challenge. For the hats, focus on posting a qualifying treasure map and a qualifying Gunpowder Barrel map, then check whether the community goals have been reached.

When does Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters end?
Community Weekend ended at 10 AM UTC on Monday, October 26. New maps no longer count towards these hats. Festival of the Damned began October 27 and has separate rewards; it doesn’t extend the hat challenge.
For the full programme see our Community Weekend overview. The Twitch Drops guide lists watch times for the Bucket, Gilded Phoenix ship pieces and Bat Cutout Emote.
Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters missing hats: official fix
If you qualified during the October 23–26, 2026 Community Weekend but your Trickster’s Prize Hat or Treater’s Prize Hat never appeared, Rare has confirmed the delivery problem and marked it resolved. A fix has been applied so eligible pirates should receive one or both hats when they next set sail. If you still haven’t received your reward after joining a fresh session, contact Sea of Thieves Player Support.
Check your Clothing Chest’s hat category after loading into the game. You don’t need to buy the hats, redo a completed map or post another Quest Board map now the weekend has ended. The fix is for players who qualified while the event was active, not an extension of the earning period. When contacting support, include your pirate account details and what you buried and posted, along with screenshots if available.
Sea of Thieves Tricksters and Treaters: which maps qualified?
The Treater’s Prize Hat required at least one Quest Board map with buried loot worth 10,000 Gold or more. The Trickster’s Prize Hat required a separately posted map containing buried Gunpowder Barrels. A map containing a Gunpowder Barrel counts towards Trick Together, even if valuable treasure is buried there too, so use separate maps for both goals. The global goals also had to be met. This is different from the older Reward Hat cosmetics from 2022.
Rare’s official resolved reward notice confirms the next-session grant. The original known issue recorded the delayed distribution.
