Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards include Spiritfire Makeup and the Candlelight of the Damned Lantern. Both are free Halloween challenge prizes available until November 3, 2026 at 10 AM GMT. Share Ghoulish Confections to help the community goal, then defeat special skeletons at an active Fort of the Damned for the lantern.

Sail during the event to get a Soulflame Mask, which you can keep, and the temporary Bucket of Confections Emote. These are useful for the two challenges, but the makeup and lantern have different requirements. Here’s what to do for each.

Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards: Spiritfire Makeup

Equip your Bucket of Confections Emote and offer a Ghoulish Confection to another pirate. A crewmate is fine. Stand close enough for them to take a sweet from the bucket rather than just performing the emote and leaving.

Each handout helps the Community Spirit Goal. If the shared goal is reached, participating pirates can receive Spiritfire Makeup. You don’t have to hand out every sweet in the community total yourself. Check the Events tab to follow the live total and see whether the makeup has unlocked.

Ghoulish Confections produce different effects when eaten, from healing to tricks such as fire breath or vomiting. Triggering a particular effect isn’t necessary for the goal. Focus on actually sharing sweets with other pirates.

Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards: Candlelight Lantern

For the lantern, equip your Soulflame Mask and visit an active Fort of the Damned. Special Soulflame Skeletons can emerge from the ground while a masked pirate is on the island. They try to escape when spotted, so take them down quickly.

Pirates on the island get goal progress and a Doubloon when a Soulflame Skeleton is defeated. You don’t need the final hit. Rare also says more pirates wearing masks can cause more skeletons to appear, so bringing friends can speed up the challenge.

Track your personal count in the Events tab. Once your Soulflame Skeleton goal is complete, you’ll earn the Candlelight of the Damned Lantern. Unlike the makeup, this isn’t dependent on the community meeting its shared target.

Why aren’t Soulflame Skeletons spawning?

Check that you’re at the Fort of the Damned, that the encounter is active and that at least one pirate there has equipped the Soulflame Mask. The regular sweets emote doesn’t summon skeletons. If you’re short on time, share a confection first, then head to the fort and concentrate on the lantern.

Can you keep the Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards?

The Soulflame Mask stays in your collection after November 3. The Bucket of Confections Emote is temporary, so use it while the event runs. Spiritfire Makeup and the Candlelight Lantern are unlockable cosmetics, not paid Pirate Emporium items.

The festival ends on Tuesday, November 3 at 10 AM GMT. The UK is on GMT, so Rare’s published 10 AM UTC closing time is also 10 AM in Britain.

Missing reward or stuck in a sweets animation?

If an earned cosmetic isn’t showing, restart Sea of Thieves and check the appropriate collection. Rare advises contacting support after 72 hours if a completed reward still hasn’t arrived.

Eating several sweets can leave a pirate stuck vomiting, while a server migration can lock a dance or sleep animation. Rare’s listed workarounds are to take damage or restart the game. You don’t need to reinstall Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards: final steps

Check both event goals before the November 3 cutoff. Share confections for the community, then wear the Soulflame Mask at the fort for your personal skeleton progress. The Sea of Thieves Festival of the Damned rewards don’t include the earlier Tricksters and Treaters hats, which belong to a different event.
