Ratatan Characters and Classes

header 30

Ratatan Characters do not fit a conventional class screen where every hero is simply labelled tank, healer or damage dealer. Each playable Ratatan has its own identity, passive Ratatability bonus, associated Cobun strengths and a Super Fever Tech that changes what the character contributes during a run. That makes character choice part of party construction rather than a cosmetic decision.

The Early Access updates have also made those differences more explicit over time by adding Super Fever Techs and Ratatability upgrades. Ratatan Characters can therefore overlap in broad jobs while still pushing the player toward different rhythm and positioning habits. For version 1.0, the useful way to understand the roster is to look at what each Ratatan does for the group instead of forcing all eight into rigid MMO-style class labels.

The current Ratatan Characters roster includes Harigittan, Nyandola, Mimizukyun, Keroronpa, Pyokorappa, Kamonelo, Mashuma and Buttonda. Official Early Access patch notes list unique Super Fever Techs and Ratatability upgrades for all eight, which gives each one a distinct tactical identity even though the game does not present them as a simple set of fixed classes.

Harigittan, Nyandola and Mimizukyun

Harigittan is the protective option among Ratatan Characters. Hoglet Hold builds a structure that blocks enemy movement and attacks and can also be used as a platform. Its Ratatability strengthens damage reduction during Guard commands, reinforcing the idea that Harigittan is at its best when the group needs a sturdier front line or a way to control space.

Nyandola leans toward tempo and offensive support. Mew Mew Mania raises movement speed and attack power for Ratatan and Cobun inside its range, while Ratatability improves Move Speed and Wisdom. Mimizukyun is more directly ranged: Frosty Feathers fires multiple ice arrows and applies Freeze, and its Ratatability improves Squad Skill damage on a successful Just rhythm judgment.

Keroronpa, Pyokorappa and Kamonelo

Keroronpa provides broad area damage through Bop & Drop, which rains bombs over a large area. Its Ratatability improves the health Cobun return with when revived, giving the character a recovery angle alongside the explosives. Pyokorappa uses Sassy Symphony to fire musical notes in an arc that explode on impact, while its passive upgrade improves normal attack damage on Just judgments.

Kamonelo is the clearest defensive support among these Ratatan Characters. Cuddle Canopy places a barrier that nullifies projectiles and reduces damage taken by allies in range. The Ratatability bonus improves Cobun health recovery from Fall In. That combination is useful when enemy ranged pressure is the problem and the party benefits more from survival than another burst-damage tool.

Mashuma and Buttonda

Mashuma controls an area with Fungal Fallout, summoning a giant mushroom that scatters spores and creates a damage-over-time zone. Its Ratatability increases damage dealt by status ailments, so the character naturally fits runs that are already leaning into elemental or status interactions. Among the Ratatan Characters, Mashuma is the most obvious choice for players who enjoy damage that builds through effects rather than one immediate hit.

Buttonda creates Piggy Palisade, a barrier centred on the character that nullifies projectiles and raises Critical Rate for allies in range. Its Ratatability improves both knockback power and knockback resistance. That makes Buttonda another protective choice, but with a different flavour from Kamonelo: it mixes projectile defence with critical-hit support and stronger control over pushing and resisting displacement.

Are Ratatan characters the same as classes?

Not exactly. Ratatan Characters function like class choices because they change abilities, passives and tactical priorities, but the game also has Cobun squads, equipment, Decorunes and roguelike upgrades that shape a run. Two players using the same Ratatan can therefore end up with meaningfully different builds depending on the weapons, elemental interactions and upgrades they collect.

That flexibility is why a simple tank-healer-DPS chart would undersell the roster. Ratatan Characters provide a starting identity, then the run layers additional build choices on top. Players should pick a Ratatan whose core mechanic feels comfortable, then use Cobun and item choices to cover weaknesses or amplify the role they want to emphasise.

Which Ratatan character should you choose first?

A first choice should be based on what kind of responsibility you enjoy. Harigittan and Kamonelo are easier to understand if you like protection, Nyandola offers clear group buffs, Mimizukyun and Keroronpa provide direct offensive tools, while Mashuma rewards status-focused planning. Pyokorappa offers ranged explosive pressure and Buttonda mixes defence with critical support.

Because version 1.0 can still include final balance changes, numerical rankings for Ratatan Characters are more volatile than the confirmed roster itself. The names, Super Fever Tech identities and Ratatability directions are already established in official updates, while exact values and the strongest endgame combinations can move with balance patches. That makes this overview useful now without pretending the pre-launch meta is permanently settled. The Ratatan Characters remains the clearest phrase to use when checking the final launch information. That keeps the Ratatan Characters guidance tied to confirmed details rather than assumptions.
