Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex: Every Confirmed Pokémon So Far

The Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex already has three confirmed new starters: Browt, Pombon and Gecqua. The first announcement footage also features recognisable Pokémon returning from earlier games, although the full regional Pokédex hasn’t been released.

There is an important difference between species Pokémon has formally introduced and returning ones identified in a trailer. This guide brings them together without guessing at unannounced evolutions, encounter locations or version exclusives.

The early Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex checklist contains three new starter species and several familiar returning Pokémon identified in official promotional footage. It is not a complete list of every Pokémon available in the games.

The table reflects the announcement material, not an official final regional count. A Pokémon appearing in a trailer doesn’t establish its wild encounter location or prove that it can be caught in both versions.

Browt, Pombon and Gecqua: new first partners

Browt is a Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon. It uses the leaves on its brow to photosynthesise and is described as lively but a little clumsy. Pokémon confirms the Ability Overgrow and lists Browt at 0.3 m tall and 3.5 kg.

Pombon is the Fire-type Puppy Pokémon, with a faint glow beneath its throat caused by a heat-generating organ in its lungs. It is friendly and guileless, with the Ability Blaze. Its height is 0.4 m and its weight is 6.7 kg.

Gecqua is the Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon. It launches springy water balls from its tail and has an intelligent, showy personality. Its Ability is Torrent, and it is 0.3 m tall and weighs 4.3 kg.

These three are confirmed new species in the Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex. Their evolution lines haven’t been announced, and no official information has established secondary types or final forms. Our starter comparison has all three profiles in one place.

Which returning Pokémon have been shown?

The trailer-based checklist includes Pikachu, Eevee, Psyduck, Magikarp, Gyarados, Lapras, Wingull and Pelipper. They’re familiar species from previous generations rather than brand-new Pokémon.

Several fit naturally into the islands-and-ocean setting, especially the Water-type Pokémon. That doesn’t confirm any particular spawn location, special traversal ability or version-exclusive encounter, though. Pokémon hasn’t released that information.

There’s also no reason to assume every related Pokémon automatically returns. An appearance by Eevee, for example, isn’t enough to confirm every Eeveelution in the Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex.

Are Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu new Pokémon?

Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu are the two special Pikachu introduced in the announcement. Pokémon has officially named them and shown their outfits, but hasn’t identified them as separate new species.

That means the Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex shouldn’t count these dressed-up Pikachu as two additional new species. Their exact role, whether they’re catchable and whether they’re exclusive to different games also remain unknown.

You can see their names and confirmed appearances in our special Pikachu guide.

How many Pokémon will be in the regional Pokédex?

No complete regional Pokémon count has been published. The Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex currently consists of a limited confirmed and trailer-identified selection, while the total number of new and returning species remains unknown.

Pokémon has described a new open world of windswept islands, ocean and different Pokémon ecosystems. Those features establish the setting, but they don’t give us a number of Pokémon, a National Pokédex promise or a complete distribution list.

Will all existing Pokémon be available?

There has been no announcement confirming every previous Pokémon will be obtainable. Pokémon HOME compatibility is also unannounced, so there are no verified transfer requirements or instructions for the new games.

For now, it’s better to focus on identified species rather than assuming every generation, evolution or alternate form can be used. The Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex checklist will remain incomplete until further official information is released.

When will more Pokémon be revealed?

Pokémon hasn’t scheduled a date for another Pokédex announcement. Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are planned to launch simultaneously worldwide in 2027 exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

The Pokémon Winds and Waves Pokédex begins with Browt, Pombon and Gecqua, plus familiar Pokémon identified in the first footage. For the wider announcement, see the release-date guide or the official Pokémon Winds and Waves website.
