Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research offers 116,100 Stardust and one Star Piece during the Orionids event, running from 19 to 24 October 2026. The free research has five identical tasks asking you to use a Star Piece, each worth 7,740 Stardust, followed by a 77,400-Stardust completion reward.
There’s a useful trick to how you claim it: take the free Star Piece from the first reward, then activate one with the five tasks visible before spending more. The event is also a particularly good opportunity to catch Minior for 1,000 Stardust each, especially during the boosted 5–9 PM spawn window. Here’s the complete research track and the reward calculation.
Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research: All Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research tasks
The free research has one page, with an immediate Star Piece and five copies of the same task. You’ll find it in the Today view of the Research menu once the Orionids event is active.
| Task | Reward |
|---|---|
| Claim Reward! | 1 Star Piece |
| Use a Star Piece (1) | 7,740 Stardust |
| Use a Star Piece (2) | 7,740 Stardust |
| Use a Star Piece (3) | 7,740 Stardust |
| Use a Star Piece (4) | 7,740 Stardust |
| Use a Star Piece (5) | 7,740 Stardust |
| Final completion | 77,400 Stardust |
Five rewards of 7,740 Stardust add up to 38,700. Including the final 77,400 brings the total to 116,100 Stardust before Star Piece bonuses. These are fixed displayed rewards; they don’t include Stardust from catching wild Pokémon.

Does one Star Piece complete all five tasks?
The five Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research tasks have exactly the same wording: Use a Star Piece. Claim the included Star Piece first, then activate it while all five tasks are available. Check whether all five have registered the activation before using another Star Piece.
If every task shows Complete, you can claim all five 7,740-Stardust rewards without spending five separate Star Pieces. The duplicated wording is why it’s worth checking progress immediately rather than burning extra resources. Once you activate the included Star Piece, inspect all five task indicators. If each shows Complete, claim the five rewards while the boost is running. There’s no need to activate another Star Piece for a task that’s already complete.
A Star Piece normally boosts eligible Stardust earned during its active period by 50%. Claim the research rewards while it is active to receive the boosted amount, and avoid spending the activation just before you need to stop playing.
How much Stardust can you get with a Star Piece?
The Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research track displays 116,100 Stardust before bonuses. If all eligible Stardust rewards are claimed while a Star Piece’s 50% bonus is active, that rises to 174,150 Stardust.
| Reward group | Normal Stardust | With 50% Star Piece |
|---|---|---|
| Five individual tasks | 38,700 | 58,050 |
| Completion reward | 77,400 | 116,100 |
| Total | 116,100 | 174,150 |
The 174,150 figure assumes you claim each reward while the Star Piece is still running. If its timer expires before you collect the last reward, that later reward may be paid at the normal amount. Complete the tasks, then claim the rewards during the boost rather than leaving completed tasks unclaimed until after the effect ends.

Some trainers have additional Bonus Timed Research
The Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research also has an unusually rare, separate Bonus Timed Research page awarding a million Stardust. This isn’t the standard research guaranteed to every player, so don’t confuse the two tracks.
The extra reported page includes a free Star Piece, a Use a Star Piece task and a 1,000,000-Stardust completion reward. If you’re among the players who receive it, inspect the actual task reward shown on your account and activate a Star Piece before claiming the huge completion bonus.
Under the usual 50% boost, a one-million-Stardust completion reward becomes 1.5 million when claimed during an active Star Piece. This is a separate, randomly distributed bonus for a small number of trainers, not a hidden objective everyone can unlock.
Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research: When does Minior Timed Research expire?
The Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research accompanies the first Minior Showers event, the Orionids, running from 19 October at 5 PM until 24 October at 11:59 PM local time. The event and research use your local time zone.
Timed Research disappears after its deadline, including any rewards you earned but forgot to claim. Open the Today tab before Saturday night and collect everything you’ve unlocked. Later Minior Showers are scheduled through August 2027, but their research rewards should not be presumed identical.
Minior itself spawns in Meteor Form during the shower, with higher encounter chances from 5 PM to 9 PM each day. Catching one awards 1,000 Stardust before any Star Piece bonus, so a research claim session can double as a useful Minior-catching session.
Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research: How to make the most of your Star Piece
For the Pokémon GO Minior Shower Timed Research, activate the included Star Piece when you have time to collect the five research rewards, finish the page and catch Minior while the boost runs. The Star Piece lasts a limited time, so plan a session rather than activating it before you go offline.

Niantic’s official Minior event announcement confirms the Orionids event dates, wild encounters and form-changing rules. The detailed task rewards above have been documented from the live in-game research by established Pokémon GO event trackers.
