PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC is officially confirmed. Sony’s premium early-2027 headset includes active noise cancellation to reduce unwanted ambient sound, making it the only model in the newly announced PULSE and PULSE Edge pair with ANC.
It is important not to confuse that with AI-enhanced microphone noise rejection. Both new headsets can filter background noise from your outgoing voice, but only Edge is confirmed to cancel ambient noise for the person wearing the headset.
How PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC works
Sony describes PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC as active noise cancellation designed to reduce unwanted ambient background noise. The company has not yet published selectable ANC levels, transparency modes, microphone counts or frequency-response measurements for the cancellation system.
ANC versus AI microphone noise rejection
PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC changes what you hear by reducing environmental sound reaching your ears. AI-enhanced mic noise rejection changes what other people hear by filtering unwanted noise from your captured voice. They solve different problems.
Does standard PlayStation PULSE have ANC?
No ANC feature is listed for the standard PULSE in Sony’s official comparison table. Standard PULSE still gets AI mic noise rejection, but the active listening-side cancellation is reserved for Edge.
Does PULSE Elite have ANC?
PULSE Elite’s official product specification does not list active noise cancellation. That makes PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC one of the clearest upgrades over the existing Elite headset for players in noisy rooms or shared spaces.
Will ANC work on PC and Mac?
Sony presents PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC as a headset feature rather than a PS5-only audio mode. Edge itself supports PlayStation Link on PC and Mac, although Sony has not yet published a platform-by-platform ANC control guide.
What Sony has not confirmed
Sony still has not detailed battery impact, transparency or ambient mode information, adjustment strength, or whether cancellation settings can be controlled through the PS Link PC driver. Those specifics should wait for Sony’s full product documentation.
Who benefits most from ANC?
Players dealing with fans, traffic, shared-room conversation or other steady background sound are the obvious audience. If you normally play in a quiet room, the value of PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC may depend more on the final Edge price than on the feature existing at all.
PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC and battery life
Active noise cancellation consumes power on most wireless headsets, but Sony has not published an Edge battery estimate with ANC enabled or disabled. Any runtime claim made before the full specification sheet arrives would be guesswork.
PlayStation PULSE Edge ANC is confirmed; its exact impact on endurance is not.
What ANC can and cannot promise yet
Sony has confirmed the existence of active noise cancellation but has not published measurements showing how much sound it removes or which frequencies it handles best. Without independent testing, it is too early to compare Edge directly with premium ANC headsets from Bose, Sony’s consumer audio division or other gaming brands.
The current announcement also does not mention transparency mode. That means buyers who rely on hearing their surroundings should wait for the full manual rather than assuming every common ANC companion feature is included.
Comfort and isolation still matter
Active cancellation is only one part of perceived isolation. Earcup seal, clamp force and cushion material can change how much outside sound reaches you before electronics do anything at all. Sony has not yet published enough fit information to judge that passive side of the headset.
That is another reason hands-on testing will matter once production units appear. Strong ANC paired with an uncomfortable fit would not automatically make the headset better for long sessions.
