Planet Zoo 2 flying birds include the species you can keep in a aviary in the launch version of the game. There are 12 flying species on the launch roster, with the Golden Eagle exclusive to Deluxe Edition. This is the bird collection that uses the new roofed aviary system, not the game’s flightless terrestrial birds.
Flying species need an enclosed aviary with a roof, suitable perches and enough flying space. Their social and habitat requirements are not identical, so using one generic enclosure for all twelve is unlikely to meet every Zoopedia requirement. The table below gives every animal in this category, followed by what to check before you build. This is a species reference, not a promise that every animal will be unlocked in a new Franchise.

Which Planet Zoo 2 flying birds are in the Deluxe Edition?
The list includes the Toco Toucan, Great Hornbill, Shoebill, Secretarybird, White-Backed Vulture, Golden Eagle, several other birds and smaller species. Golden Eagle requires Deluxe Edition, while the remaining eleven are part of the standard launch roster.
The Deluxe animals are already included in the overall category total. They are not extra entries to add on top of the aviary list. If you have Standard Edition, you can still build and stock aviary enclosures with the base-game choices.
How to build a habitat for Planet Zoo 2 flying birds
Build the habitat perimeter and roof first, then add perches, nesting spaces and suitable vegetation. Check each bird’s requirements before choosing a social group. A roof that fails to enclose the habitat, or a cramped flight area, needs correcting before animals arrive.
Before buying any animal, read its in-game Zoopedia page. The specific environmental and social requirements can differ even among species that use the same enclosure type. A healthy habitat needs to satisfy the animal in front of you, not merely match its category.

Why Planet Zoo 2 flying birds may be locked in Franchise Mode
The roster tells you what exists in the game. Franchise Accreditation determines which animals you can access as your zoos and Wildlife Reserves develop. If a species is locked, check the Accreditation screen; if the Animal Market itself has no listings, that may instead be an online trading issue. Those are separate problems.
Some of the Planet Zoo 2 flying birds also have different release options. Not every species has a compatible managed Wildlife Reserve. Wildlife release eligibility depends on species research, the receiving ecosystem and the group you prepare, not simply on owning an adult animal.
Common mistakes when keeping Planet Zoo 2 flying birds
The first is building before reading the Zoopedia, only to discover that the chosen animals need different space or environmental conditions. The second is treating a Deluxe animal as part of the Standard Edition. The third is confusing a species being locked in Franchise with the animal being absent from the game.
If you are struggling with the enclosure itself, use the dedicated aquarium or aviary construction guides linked below. And if an animal’s welfare is low after the habitat is finished, inspect the relevant welfare details before replacing the entire build.
