Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals have their own category in the launch Zoopedia, with plenty of choices beyond the animals shown in the trailers. The full 37-species aquarium roster contains four shark species, rays, freshwater fish, marine fish, a turtle and a manatee. Great Hammerhead, Longfin Batfish and Blue and Gold Fusilier require Deluxe Edition.
You’ll need to decide which species you want before building, because its environment, welfare needs and enclosure type determine the setup. The table below includes every entry from this category, while the remaining sections explain how to use it without buying an animal your current edition or Franchise tier cannot access.

What habitats do Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals need?
Aquarium species need suitable water type and sufficient swimming space, not merely any pool. Put filtration and water pumps in place, allow staff access and use each Zoopedia page to check whether the species needs freshwater or marine conditions. The sixteen smaller fish shared with exhibits may be displayed in either kind of enclosure.
A safe way to plan Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals is to begin in the Zoopedia rather than by placing scenery. Open the entry for the species you want, note its water or environment requirements, group conditions and welfare needs, and build the enclosure that matches those details. Different entries in the same category can still need very different conditions.
Deluxe Edition Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals
The full 37-species aquarium roster contains four shark species, rays, freshwater fish, marine fish, a turtle and a manatee. Great Hammerhead, Longfin Batfish and Blue and Gold Fusilier require Deluxe Edition.
Deluxe exclusives count towards the table’s total; they are not additional animals on top of the advertised number. The standard edition contains the other entries. Don’t spend time troubleshooting why an exclusive species is missing from the standard edition’s Animal Market.

How to check whether Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals can live together
Sharing an enclosure type doesn’t prove two different species are compatible. Use the Zoopedia’s social and cohabitation guidance for the animals you’ve selected. You’ll still need enough room, food, environmental conditions and enrichment for all occupants. A mixed habitat that meets only one species’ needs can lower the other’s welfare.
It’s particularly important to check animals requiring different water environments, as well as species with separate social rules. The release-day Zoopedia is the relevant reference for those compatibility decisions, rather than guessing from an animal’s real-world appearance.
Why Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals might not appear in Franchise Mode
The list of Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals contains species that exist in the game, but new Franchise players do not immediately have access to every species. Franchise Accreditation unlocks more animals through zoo Reputation and Wildlife Reserve Biodiversity. A temporarily empty online Animal Market is a different problem, and should not be confused with an Accreditation lock.
If the game gives a lock or tier requirement, work on the appropriate Franchise progress. If the market is failing to show listings or connect at all, check the current online-service situation before changing your zoo.
Can Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals be released into Wildlife Reserves?
Wildlife Reserve releases are not available for every animal in every location. Each release depends on species research, a compatible ecosystem and a qualifying Release Group. A quick release does not guarantee the same animal can be released into a managed reserve.
If conservation is your goal, inspect eligibility before breeding a large group. Some species require a particular group size or suitable genetics, while others may not have a compatible reserve. Build the conservation plan around the actual species’ requirements.
What to check before adopting Planet Zoo 2 aquatic animals
- Check whether the species is included in your edition of the game.
- Read its Zoopedia entry for the correct enclosure, group size and environmental conditions.
- Build and connect the relevant habitat or exhibit before purchasing animals.
- Confirm that your Franchise tier allows the species, if applicable.
- Check welfare after adoption and adjust individual requirements rather than redesigning everything.
