OSRS Fractured Archive Rewards: Rondache, Ascension Crossbow, Zorya’s Tome and More

osrs fractured archive official

OSRS Fractured Archive rewards include the Rondache shield, Ascension Crossbows, Zorya’s Tome and the Obligator, alongside Zeal, Elemental Fragments, Ascension shards and the Archivist’s Folio. The fourth Old School RuneScape raid opened on October 20, 2026, so these are obtainable rewards, not concepts awaiting a poll.

The OSRS Fractured Archive rewards serve very different roles. The Rondache turns reduced damage into a Shield Bash, Zorya’s Tome attacks rapidly with Magic, and the Obligator is built to hit large, Crush-weak enemies particularly hard. Below is the complete named reward lineup, how the main items work and what Jagex has confirmed about obtaining them.

Complete OSRS Fractured Archive rewards list

Reward What it does
Rondache Tradeable shield that reduces Melee, Ranged and Magic damage by 2 and stores prevented damage to power Shield Bash.
Ascension Crossbows Tradeable dual-wield ranged weapons using Ascension bolts made with shards.
Zorya’s Tome Tradeable two-handed Magic book with a three-tick attack and a rapid-fire Special Attack.
Obligator Crush-focused megarare with damage rerolls and bonuses against larger targets.
Zeal Tradeable unlock that adds 5% Attack and Strength to the Piety prayer.
Elemental Fragments Untradeable upgrades that add +2 to your base maximum hit with the matching element.
Archivist’s Folio Untradeable teleport item for returning to the raid; charged with Ascension shards.
Ascension shards Stackable resource used for bolts and to charge the Folio and Obligator.

These OSRS Fractured Archive rewards cover the eight named weapons and progression items in Jagex’s October 20 launch notes. The raid also has ordinary loot, but Jagex hasn’t released a full unique drop-rate table in that announcement. A specific boss route doesn’t increase your contribution points over its paired alternative, so there is no official ‘best path’ for unique reward odds.

Rondache shield and Shield Bash

Of the defensive OSRS Fractured Archive rewards, the Rondache reduces incoming damage by two from Melee, Ranged and Magic hits. That prevented damage becomes charges you can fire as a rapid Shield Bash, giving the shield an offensive use instead of merely improving your Defence bonuses. You can still equip a normal one-handed weapon with it.

If the weapon in your main hand doesn’t have a Special Attack, the Rondache adds its own special bar to the Combat Styles tab and uses the standard Special Attack orb beside the minimap. If your weapon already has a special, both bars appear in Combat Styles. Right-click the orb to access the Rondache’s bash without abandoning your weapon’s own special.

Shield Bash also gives combat XP in the Attack Style you’ve selected. For example, Aggressive gives Strength XP, while Shared distributes XP across the relevant combat skills. It’s worth understanding that setting before using the shield repeatedly on an account with training restrictions.

Ascension Crossbows and Ascension shards

For Ranged, the OSRS Fractured Archive rewards include Ascension Crossbows, a paired weapon set that fires Ascension bolts. You make those bolts using shards from the raid, and Jagex describes the crossbows as a high-end alternative in the fast ranged-weapon space. Their ongoing ammunition needs are worth factoring into any upgrade decision.

Ascension shards have other uses too: they charge the Archivist’s Folio, which teleports you back towards the Archive, and they charge the Obligator. You can also gather shards slowly by mining Ascension rocks in the raid lobby, so the resource isn’t only relevant when a reward chest drops.

Zorya’s Tome Magic attacks and Special Attack

The Magic-focused OSRS Fractured Archive rewards include Zorya’s Tome, a tradeable two-handed item that attacks every three ticks. Its Special Attack fires a sequence of rapid hits with improved damage and accuracy, giving it a different use from a conventional slower spellcasting setup.

Choosing the Tome is therefore about the encounter as well as your Magic level and gear. Its value will depend on how efficiently your targets take those rapid hits and what you’re giving up by using a two-handed weapon. Jagex confirmed the attack speed and special behaviour in its launch description.

Obligator damage rerolls and large-enemy bonuses

The Obligator is the Crush megarare among OSRS Fractured Archive rewards. It can roll damage as many as four times based on how weak the target is to Crush relative to other melee styles, then keep the strongest result. It also gains bonus damage according to the enemy’s size.

Target size Obligator bonus
2×2 20% bonus damage
3×3 or larger 40% bonus damage

Jagex also describes a mode that can strike enemies in a line, plus faster attacks available by sacrificing the rerolls and multi-target effects. That gives the Obligator clear strengths, but it isn’t a blanket upgrade against every monster. Target size and Crush weakness both matter.

Zeal, Elemental Fragments and Archivist’s Folio

One of the prayer-related OSRS Fractured Archive rewards, Zeal upgrades Piety with another 5% Attack and Strength. The unlock item is tradeable, and Jagex says Zeal is automatically available in Last Man Standing and Pete Kayer’s challenges. If you’re following that separate challenge path, our Pete Kayer guide explains the available tasks.

Four OSRS Fractured Archive rewards are Elemental Fragments, untradeable upgrades for their corresponding Magic elements. Each adds two to base maximum hit, and the bonus interacts with Magic damage boosts and elemental weaknesses. Jagex has also described duplicate-protection mechanics for fragments, so repeated rewards shouldn’t leave you endlessly collecting only one element.

The Archivist’s Folio provides teleports back to the raid, with each Ascension shard supplying five teleport charges. Of all OSRS Fractured Archive rewards, the Folio is a travel item rather than a damage upgrade, and it becomes more useful as you attempt multiple runs.

Which OSRS Fractured Archive rewards should you chase?

When choosing between OSRS Fractured Archive rewards, look at the Rondache if you need a defensive tool with a built-in counterattack. For Ranged, weigh the Ascension Crossbows and the cost of making bolts. Zorya’s Tome suits players looking for rapid Magic damage, while the Obligator has the clearest payoff against large enemies vulnerable to Crush. Zeal and Elemental Fragments offer different ways to improve combat without replacing a weapon.

If you can’t enter or the Jeweller’s Chisel isn’t working on shards, check the official launch issues and fixes instead. There is no confirmed exact unique drop-rate table to use for guaranteed farming calculations yet.
