OSRS Fractured Archive Gear and Inventory: Melee, Ranged, Magic and Supplies

OSRS Fractured Archive gear should cover more than one combat style. The five-encounter raid opens with an airborne Guardian, can send you through bosses with adds or elemental mechanics, and ends with Ocellus, who alternates between reachable and airborne phases. Crush melee is particularly strong in several rooms, but bringing only a heavy melee weapon leaves you without answers to other attacks.

There is no settled one-size-fits-all best-in-slot loadout just two days after the raid launched, and Jagex changed Defence reduction on October 21. A useful setup balances damage, the spells your chosen routes require and enough food and Prayer restoration to reach the Quartermaster after the third encounter.

Recommended OSRS Fractured Archive gear by combat role

RoleExamplesWhy it helps
Crush meleeScythe, Inquisitor’s mace, abyssal bludgeon or a suitable Crush weaponStrong against many bosses, particularly reachable Ocellus phases
RangedTwisted bow, bow of faerdhinen with crystal equipment, a crossbow or reliable bowHits airborne Guardian and supports distant damage or moving targets
Magic and controlWater or ice spells; elemental spells for Dagon’hai ritualStops Xarth corpses, freezes adds and interrupts elemental channels
Special-attack switchDefence-lowering or damaging weapon depending on bossUseful but affected by October 21 Defence caps

These are examples, not a claim that every player must buy an expensive weapon. The OSRS Fractured Archive gear decisions depend on which three branching bosses your team plans to fight and who is handling the encounter mechanics. Someone keeping Xarth’s corpses frozen needs access to the appropriate spells even if that is not their highest raw damage setup.

Why Crush is useful in OSRS Fractured Archive gear

Archive Guardian, Ezekiel, Bork, Xarth and Ocellus have notable Crush vulnerabilities, but their attack patterns don’t all let you remain in melee range. The Guardian is airborne until its shield breaks, and Ocellus is unreachable by standard short-range melee during aerial sections. Bring a second style rather than expecting a single Crush weapon to handle every mechanic.

A Crush-oriented armour set can help with OSRS Fractured Archive gear if you own one, but switching equipment costs inventory slots. For OSRS Fractured Archive gear, a player with a dependable core setup and fewer switches may perform better than somebody who brings too many pieces and loses space for food. Give priority to switches that solve a real encounter problem.

When to bring Ranged and Magic

Ranged gets immediate use at the Archive Guardian and can damage bosses without standing close to a large melee slam. Against Moia, a Venator bow can chain through undead binders. Strong bows such as the Twisted bow or bow of faerdhinen are options for geared players, but never assume old raid launch-day DPS charts remain accurate after Jagex’s Defence hotfix.

Magic serves several special jobs. Air spells can charge Ezekiel’s flying swords. Water or ice spells help deal with the corpses that move toward Xarth. The Dagon’hai ritual specifically calls for Fire, Water, Air or Earth in response to on-screen phrases. If your group selects that room, agree who can cast which element before entering. Good OSRS Fractured Archive gear planning includes those spells, not simply the highest-level staff in the bank.

Suggested OSRS Fractured Archive gear inventory for a first attempt

Start with your main weapon, the switches you will genuinely use, a teleport for getting to the entrance, combat boosting potions, several Prayer restores and the rest of your useful space allocated to healing. If you are learning rather than chasing speed, bring more supplies and fewer speculative switches. Bring the appropriate runes for air, water, ice and any other spell roles assigned to you.

Supplies depend on experience, levels and route. A team with a dedicated Mage controlling Xarth adds will need a different arrangement from players choosing Dagon’hai. The raid doesn’t hand out Overload-style potions, and you cannot bank once the group starts, so plan for multiple different fights rather than one room in isolation.

Quartermaster supplies after boss three

The Quartermaster arrives after the third encounter, between Moia or Dreadnoth and Xarth or Dagon’hai. The Alliance Supplies shop uses Supply Credits and includes Saradomin brews, super restores, Prayer potions, Ranging potions, super combat potions, manta rays, halibut and giant krill. Earlier performance affects what your party can afford.

For OSRS Fractured Archive gear, that is the place to replace supplies before the fourth boss and Ocellus, not a reason to rush through the opening three encounters with an empty inventory. Compare your remaining Prayer and food with what the next two rooms require, especially if players have already had several near-deaths.

October 21 Defence changes and OSRS Fractured Archive gear

Jagex capped Defence reduction on the Guardian, Bork, Ezekiel, Moia, Xarth and Ocellus at 60% of starting Defence. Dreadnoth, the Smorks, the Dagon’hai trio and the Blade during Ocellus can still be reduced to zero. That changes the value of some special attacks and makes universal gear rankings from the first twenty-four hours questionable. Ocellus also retains Defence reduction as he moves quadrants in phase three.

The safest OSRS Fractured Archive gear choice is a setup you can execute consistently. Learn the mechanics first, then test damage improvements after you know you can survive. See our raid entrance and route guide, weapons and rewards overview and latest launch issue fixes for the related details.
