The new Vanny design has been revealed through a cryptic Five Nights at Freddy’s teaser from Steel Wool Studios, giving fans their first look at a dramatically different version of the Security Breach character.

Steel Wool released the teaser on August 8, 2026 during the 12th anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Rather than simply displaying Vanny in full, the studio hid pieces of her new appearance inside brief glitches, forcing fans to inspect individual frames to see what had been revealed.

Those fragments have since been pieced together into a much clearer look at the new Vanny design, revealing a more unsettling rabbit appearance and one particularly interesting detail hidden inside an eye.

What Does the New Vanny Design Look Like?

The new Vanny design is noticeably different from the version seen in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

Vanny still retains the basic rabbit appearance associated with the character, including large ears and a pale mask-like face, but the new version appears considerably darker and more threatening.

Her eyes are surrounded by dark and red detailing, while the face has a more damaged and uneven appearance. One side looks particularly worn or scarred, giving the rabbit mask a far less clean appearance than the original Security Breach costume.

The new Vanny design also features a wide, exaggerated smile that makes the character look considerably more disturbing than before.

Where Did the New Vanny Design Come From?

The new Vanny design originates from the August 8 Steel Wool Studios teaser rather than a conventional character reveal.

Pieces of the character briefly appear during glitching sections of the footage. This means many of the clearer images now circulating online are reconstructions made by combining those separate frames rather than official standalone character renders.

FNAF Alerts reported that X user KlazziDev used Photoshop to piece together the fragments shown by Steel Wool, creating a clearer image of the character from the teaser.

That is an important distinction when viewing the new Vanny design online. The underlying character imagery comes from Steel Wool Studios, but some of the complete images being shared by fans have been reconstructed from the individual pieces shown in the original teaser.

Is There a Number 2 in the New Vanny Design?

Yes, fans examining the new Vanny design have identified a number 2 inside one of Vanny’s eyes.

The detail appears in Vanny’s right eye, which is on the left side of the image when looking directly at her. Fans quickly highlighted the number after the teaser was released.

The appearance of the number is particularly significant because Steel Wool has not otherwise explained exactly what the August 8 teaser is announcing.

A number 2 alongside Vanny naturally points towards a sequel, which is why the teaser has immediately been associated with Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach 2.

However, Steel Wool Studios has not yet officially announced a game under that title.

Is the New Vanny Design for Security Breach 2?

The new Vanny design strongly suggests that Vanny will be involved in Steel Wool Studios’ next FNAF project, but Security Breach 2 is not yet a confirmed official game title.

Vanny is one of the major characters associated with the original Security Breach, and combining her return with a hidden number 2 creates an obvious sequel tease.

Fans have also noticed that the style of the number resembles lettering associated with Security Breach: Ruin, although Steel Wool has not confirmed whether that similarity has any specific meaning.

For now, the strongest confirmed information is simply that Steel Wool intentionally showed a new version of Vanny and included the number 2 within the imagery.

Whether the eventual project is called Security Breach 2, Ruin 2 or something completely different remains unknown.

Is This Still Vanessa?

The new Vanny design does not confirm who is underneath the rabbit costume.

Vanny was closely connected to Vanessa throughout Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, but the wider storyline has changed considerably through Ruin, Help Wanted 2 and the games that followed.

Steel Wool has not stated whether the Vanny shown in the new teaser is Vanessa.

That leaves several possibilities open. It could be Vanessa returning as Vanny, another character taking on the identity, or something more complicated connected to the ongoing FNAF storyline.

Fans are already debating the character’s identity, including theories involving Cassie and the Mimic, but there is currently no official evidence confirming any of those explanations.

Why Has Vanny’s Design Changed?

Steel Wool has not explained why the new Vanny design looks different.

The changes could simply represent a redesigned version of the character for a new game, but they could also reflect something that has happened within the story.

The more damaged face, darker eye area and generally more threatening appearance suggest that Steel Wool wanted this version of Vanny to feel noticeably different from her Security Breach design.

Exactly why remains one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding the teaser.

Until more artwork or gameplay is shown, it is impossible to know whether the differences have a specific lore explanation.

Is the New Vanny Design Official?

The character shown in the teaser is official Steel Wool Studios material.

However, the complete new Vanny design images circulating around social media need a little more explanation.

Steel Wool revealed the character in fragmented glitch frames rather than releasing the complete reconstructed image directly. At least one widely shared version was assembled by combining those pieces in Photoshop.

So while the design itself is official, some of the clean full-face images are fan reconstructions of official material.

That does not make the design unofficial; it simply explains why the character can now be viewed much more clearly than she appears in Steel Wool’s original video.

What the New Vanny Design Could Mean for FNAF

The new Vanny design is currently one of the clearest clues Steel Wool Studios has provided about its next Five Nights at Freddy’s project.

Vanny is back in some form, her appearance has changed significantly, and a number 2 has been deliberately hidden within the image.

What remains unknown is the official title of the project, who is wearing the Vanny costume, where the game takes place and when it will release.

Until Steel Wool reveals more, the new Vanny design gives us a very deliberate teaser rather than a complete announcement.

And considering how much information fans have already pulled from only a few seconds of glitches, there is probably a lot more scrutiny coming to whatever Steel Wool shows next.
