The new Fortnite Sprites September 3 update adds three new Sprites to Chapter 7 Season 4, including the community-designed Onigiri Sprite and X-Ray Sprite. A third Knight-themed Sprite is also joining the collection, although Epic has not yet confirmed its final name or ability. The new Sprites are expected to become available from 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST on September 3, 2026.
The new Fortnite Sprites September 3 drop is one of the biggest Sprite updates since Override launched. Two of the additions come directly from Epic’s Design-A-Sprite contest, while the third appears to be an original Fortnite design. All three will join the existing Chapter 7 Season 4 collection and remain available after their debut rather than disappearing once September 3 ends. Epic has previously confirmed that newly released Sprites and variants stay on the Island for the remainder of the season.
What are the new Fortnite Sprites September 3?
There are three new Fortnite Sprites September 3:
| Sprite | Type | Release date |
|---|---|---|
| Onigiri Sprite | Design-A-Sprite winner | September 3 |
| X-Ray Sprite | Design-A-Sprite winner | September 3 |
| Knight-themed Sprite | Fortnite original | September 3 |
Onigiri and X-Ray are both community-created designs selected through Epic Games’ Design-A-Sprite competition. The Knight-themed Sprite has appeared in promotional material for the September 3 update, but its proper name and gameplay effect have not yet been revealed.
When do the new Fortnite Sprites release?
The new Fortnite Sprites September 3 are expected to become available at the daily Sprite reset at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT.
For UK players, that means the new Sprites should appear from 2 PM BST on Thursday, September 3.
| Region | September 3 Sprite release time |
|---|---|
| US Pacific | 6 AM PT |
| US Eastern | 9 AM ET |
| UK | 2 PM BST |
| Central Europe | 3 PM CEST |
| Japan | 10 PM JST |
| Australia East | 11 PM AEST |
The update is also expected to introduce new Overrides and refresh the Loot Hack pool, making September 3 a much broader Chapter 7 Season 4 update rather than simply another weekly Sprite release.
Fortnite Onigiri Sprite

The Onigiri Sprite is one of the two Design-A-Sprite winners arriving on September 3.
Created by Enorull, Onigiri replaces the Bullet Sprite that Epic originally selected from the same creator. On August 31, Epic updated its official Design-A-Sprite announcement to confirm that Bullet had been swapped out for Onigiri instead.
The Onigiri design is based on a Japanese rice ball, with the Sprite recreated in Fortnite’s characteristic round-bodied style.
Pre-release information suggests the Onigiri Sprite may provide additional health when consuming healing items, although Epic has not yet published the final live ability description.
Players should therefore expect the exact effect and level scaling to become clearer once Onigiri is available in-game on September 3.
Fortnite X-Ray Sprite

The X-Ray Sprite is the second community-created Sprite arriving in the September 3 update.
Created by Avila215, X-Ray is expected to provide an information-focused ability that temporarily reveals nearby players through walls and solid objects.
That could make X-Ray particularly useful when fighting around buildings or enclosed areas, where knowing an opponent’s position before entering can give you a significant advantage.
Epic has not yet revealed the final range, duration or level scaling for the X-Ray ability, so those details will need to be confirmed once the Sprite goes live.
What is the new Knight Sprite?
The third of the new Fortnite Sprites September 3 is currently being referred to as the Knight Sprite because of its appearance.
Promotional material shows a heavily armoured Sprite with a medieval-style design, but Epic has not yet published its proper name or described its ability.
Unlike Onigiri and X-Ray, the Knight-themed Sprite is not listed among the five Design-A-Sprite winners. It therefore appears to be one of Epic’s own Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite designs.
Its name, rarity, ability and level effects should become available when the September 3 update is live.

Is Bullet Sprite coming on September 3?
No. Bullet Sprite is no longer part of the confirmed September 3 lineup.
Epic initially announced Bullet Sprite as Enorull’s Design-A-Sprite winner, but the official announcement was amended on August 31 to replace Bullet with Onigiri Sprite.
Epic has not said that Bullet has simply been delayed or moved to a later update. Unless that changes, Onigiri should be treated as the replacement rather than an additional Sprite.
That means the new Fortnite Sprites September 3 lineup is Onigiri, X-Ray and the unnamed Knight-themed Sprite.
Are all the Design-A-Sprite winners releasing September 3?
No.
Epic selected five community Sprite designs for Chapter 7 Season 4:
| Design-A-Sprite winner | Creator |
|---|---|
| Onigiri Sprite | Enorull |
| Dumpster Dive Sprite | StinkyPrincessGoose |
| Honey Sprite | Conejito_sam |
| Pond Sprite | Pine & Kiri |
| X-Ray Sprite | Avila215 |
Only Onigiri and X-Ray are currently expected in the September 3 release. Dumpster Dive, Honey and Pond are still due in later mid-season updates.
That means September 3 starts the Design-A-Sprite rollout rather than completing it.
How do you get the new Fortnite Sprites September 3?
Once the new Fortnite Sprites September 3 are live, players will need to find them during Battle Royale and extract them into their permanent collection.
Fortnite’s Sprite system allows collected Sprites to be secured at Extraction Sites or with Portable Extractors. Once successfully extracted, the Sprite is added to your collection and can also appear in your Sprite Garden.
There are currently no confirmed Lobby Hack codes for Onigiri, X-Ray or the Knight-themed Sprite.
Unless Epic announces another method on update day, normal in-match Sprite hunting should therefore be the main way to obtain all three.
Do the September 3 Sprites disappear after the update?
No.
Epic’s weekly Sprite announcements have consistently stated that new Sprites and variants remain on the Island for the rest of the season after they are introduced.
That means you do not have to collect Onigiri, X-Ray or the Knight Sprite during a single September 3 window.
September 3 is simply the first day they can appear.
Are Gold or Cheat Master variants coming too?
There are currently no confirmed Gold or Cheat Master variants for the three new Fortnite Sprites September 3.
Chapter 7 Season 4 has already introduced multiple special variants for other Sprites, so additional versions could appear later, but Epic has not announced any for Onigiri, X-Ray or the Knight Sprite yet.
It is therefore better to treat the standard versions as the only confirmed September 3 releases.
What else is coming in the September 3 Fortnite update?
The Sprite drop is only one part of the September 3 update.
Current information also points to new Match Overrides, a refreshed Loot Hack pool and new weapon options, giving players more ways to alter matches and customise Chest loot.
Fortnite OG Season X also begins on September 3, making the day a significant update across both the main Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Royale experience and Fortnite OG.
For Sprite collectors, however, the headline additions are clear. The new Fortnite Sprites September 3 are Onigiri, X-Ray and the currently unnamed Knight-themed Sprite, with the two community-created designs finally making their way from the Design-A-Sprite contest into the live game.
