The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite is a new community-designed Sprite arriving in Chapter 7 Season 4 on September 3, 2026. Created by Design-A-Sprite winner Enorull, the Onigiri Sprite replaces the previously announced Bullet Sprite and will be one of the first two community-created Sprites added during the season, alongside X-Ray Sprite.
The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite is based on a Japanese rice ball design, giving it one of the more distinctive appearances among the Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite collection. Epic officially confirmed the switch from Bullet Sprite to Onigiri on August 31, explaining that Enorull’s Onigiri design would now be used instead.
How to get Fortnite Onigiri Sprite
The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite becomes available on Thursday, September 3, when the next group of Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprites enters the game.
Current reporting places the new Sprite release at Fortnite’s daily Sprite reset, which occurs at:
| Region | Onigiri Sprite release time |
|---|---|
| US Pacific | 6 AM PT |
| US Eastern | 9 AM ET |
| UK | 2 PM BST |
| Central Europe | 3 PM CEST |
| Japan | 10 PM JST |
| Australia East | 11 PM AEST |
That means UK players should be able to begin hunting the Fortnite Onigiri Sprite from 2 PM BST on September 3.
Once the Sprite is live, it will join Fortnite’s wider in-match Sprite collection system. Players will need to find Onigiri during Battle Royale and successfully extract it to permanently add the Sprite to their Chapter 7 Season 4 collection.
Is Onigiri Sprite available now?

No. The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite is not available yet as of September 1.
Epic has confirmed that Onigiri and X-Ray are the first two Design-A-Sprite winners arriving this week, with additional community-created Sprites coming later in the season.
The September 3 update therefore marks the first opportunity to collect Onigiri.
If you see the Sprite listed in trackers or collection databases before September 3, that does not mean it can already be found in matches.
What does Fortnite Onigiri Sprite do?
The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite is expected to give players additional health when consuming healing items, making it a recovery-focused Sprite rather than one built around movement or direct combat.
The exact amount of extra health, level scaling and any cooldown or activation conditions have not yet been confirmed by Epic, so those details will need to be checked once Onigiri goes live on September 3.
Who designed the Onigiri Sprite?

The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite was created by Enorull as part of Epic Games’ Design-A-Sprite competition.
The competition originally launched on June 17 and asked Fortnite players to submit original Sprite designs through social media or Reddit. Winning concepts would then be recreated as real Sprites inside Fortnite.
Epic later expanded the community Sprite lineup to five winners:
| Design-A-Sprite winner | Creator |
|---|---|
| Onigiri Sprite | Enorull |
| X-Ray Sprite | Avila215 |
| Dumpster Dive Sprite | StinkyPrincessGoose |
| Honey Sprite | Conejito_sam |
| Pond Sprite | Pine & Kiri |
Onigiri and X-Ray are the first two being added, while Dumpster Dive, Honey and Pond are expected during later Chapter 7 Season 4 updates.
Why did Onigiri replace Bullet Sprite?
Onigiri was not originally the Enorull design Epic planned to add.
Epic initially selected the creator’s Bullet Sprite, but on August 31 the Fortnite team updated its official Sprite announcement to say that Bullet had been swapped for the Onigiri Sprite instead.
Epic did not give a detailed explanation for why the change was made.
That means Bullet Sprite should no longer be treated as one of the five confirmed Design-A-Sprite releases. Onigiri now occupies Enorull’s place in the official winner lineup.
Is Bullet Sprite still coming to Fortnite?
Epic has not announced Bullet Sprite for a later release.
The official Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite page now lists Onigiri Sprite by Enorull instead of Bullet, while the other four community winners remain unchanged.
It is therefore safest to treat Bullet as replaced rather than delayed unless Epic announces otherwise.
Players who previously saw Bullet listed as an upcoming Sprite should now expect Onigiri on September 3 instead.
Is Onigiri a Design-A-Sprite winner?
Yes. The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite is officially part of the Design-A-Sprite winner lineup.
Epic originally launched the contest looking for community-created Sprite concepts that could be turned into real in-game designs. The company later confirmed five winning Sprites for Chapter 7 Season 4, with Onigiri now representing Enorull following the Bullet swap.
This makes Onigiri different from Fortnite’s normal Epic-designed Sprites because the original concept came directly from a community creator.
Which other Sprite releases with Onigiri?
X-Ray Sprite is arriving alongside Onigiri.
X-Ray was created by Avila215 and is the second of the first two Design-A-Sprite winners being released this week. Epic has said the remaining winners will follow later in the season.
Current September 3 reporting also points to another new Fortnite-designed Sprite joining the update, although its final name and ability have not yet been officially announced.
This makes September 3 another substantial Sprite drop rather than a single-character release.
Does Onigiri have Gold or Cheat Master variants?
Epic has not yet confirmed additional Onigiri Sprite variants.
Chapter 7 Season 4 includes multiple variant systems such as Gold and Cheat Master Sprites, but the official announcement currently only confirms the standard Onigiri Sprite.
It is better not to assume Gold Onigiri or Cheat Master Onigiri will be available until they appear in the live collection or Epic confirms them.
When does Fortnite Onigiri Sprite release?
The Fortnite Onigiri Sprite releases on September 3, 2026, alongside X-Ray Sprite and the next wave of Chapter 7 Season 4 content.
For UK players, the expected Sprite reset is 2 PM BST, with US players seeing the release at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT.
Onigiri is particularly notable because it is not simply another seasonal Sprite. It is one of Fortnite’s community-created Design-A-Sprite winners and replaces the previously announced Bullet Sprite, making September 3 the first chance players will have to add Enorull’s final selected design to their collection.
