Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size is currently listed as an estimated 39.1 GB on Nintendo’s official store page. That gives Switch 2 owners a useful storage target ahead of the December 4, 2026 launch, although Nintendo explicitly labels the number as an estimate rather than a guaranteed final install size.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size could still move before release as Capcom finishes the port and prepares launch updates. It also does not include a guaranteed allowance for every future patch or for the 2027 Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, so players should leave more than exactly 39.1 GB free if they want room for updates.
Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size: Official Estimate
| Detail | Nintendo listing |
|---|---|
| Estimated game file size | 39.1 GB |
| Platform | Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Release date | December 4, 2026 |
| Store edition shown | Digital |
The 39.1 GB Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size comes from Nintendo itself rather than a leak, retailer box mock-up or PC storage requirement. That makes it the best number available right now.
Is 39.1 GB the Final Download Size?
Not necessarily. Nintendo labels the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size as estimated, which means the final eShop download or installed footprint may change before December 4.
Day-one updates can also change the amount of storage a game ultimately occupies, so the sensible move is to keep additional free space rather than planning around the estimate down to the last megabyte.
Does the File Size Include Ascendance?
No official wording says the current Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size includes the 2027 Ascendance expansion. Ascendance is separate paid content scheduled for the following year.
Its own download size has not been announced. Players planning to keep Wilds installed long term should therefore expect the total storage requirement to grow once the expansion and future updates are added.
Can You Use a microSD Express Card?
Switch 2 supports expanded storage through compatible microSD Express cards, which can be useful if the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size competes with several other large games on the internal drive.
The important part is using storage supported by Switch 2 rather than assuming an older microSD card works for installing Switch 2 software.
How Much Free Space Should You Keep?
Because the current Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size is an estimate, keeping somewhat more than 39.1 GB free is the safer choice. Nintendo also notes generally that enough storage must be available to complete downloads.
There is no official Monster Hunter-specific extra-space figure, so a guide should not invent a 45 GB or 50 GB requirement and call it confirmed.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds a Digital-Only Game on Switch 2?
Nintendo’s current page showing the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size is a digital store listing. Capcom’s September 10 release-date announcement does not provide a separate physical-edition schedule for Wilds.
That means the file-size figure is definitely useful for digital buyers, while physical-edition storage assumptions should wait for actual packaging and distribution details.
When Does Monster Hunter Wilds Launch on Switch 2?
The game attached to the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size launches on December 4, 2026. Capcom has also confirmed cross-play and a 2027 Switch 2 version of Ascendance.
The official Nintendo Switch 2 store page lists the current Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 File Size estimate and the December 4 release date.
