Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing is supported in Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ, with Activision publishing a separate PC specification tier for high-quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled.
That tier calls for Windows 11, 32 GB of RAM, 16 GB of VRAM and either a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 9070 XT, paired with a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K. The game still requires the same 115 GB SSD as the lower tiers.
Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing: official 4K upscaled specification

| Component | Ray tracing specification |
| OS | Windows 11 64 Bit |
| AMD CPU | Ryzen 7 3700X |
| Intel CPU | Core i7-10700K |
| RAM | 32 GB |
| AMD GPU | Radeon RX 9070 XT |
| NVIDIA GPU | GeForce RTX 5070 Ti |
| VRAM | 16 GB |
| Storage | 115 GB SSD |
| Target | High-quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled |
The lower tiers are listed in Modern Warfare 4 PC System Requirements. Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing should be treated as a separate high-end target rather than part of the normal 90 FPS recommended configuration.
Activision does not list an Intel GPU for the ray tracing tier. Intel Arc support appears in the minimum and recommended tables, but the 4K upscaled ray tracing table names only AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards.
Which modes support ray tracing?
Activision explicitly names Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ. That is broader than a single-player showcase and means players can choose ray-traced reflections, shadows and lighting across the game’s three major premium modes.
The existing Modern Warfare 4 DMZ guide covers the extraction mode itself, while the Modern Warfare 4 modes guide covers Multiplayer. Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing is a graphics feature layered over those modes rather than a separate playlist.
4K upscaled is not native 4K
The official wording is high-quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled. That matters because the game supports several resolution-scaling technologies and the ray tracing specification is not described as a native 4K target.
NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone and Intel XeSS 3 are covered in Modern Warfare 4 Upscaling. The ray tracing table tells you the hardware target, while the upscaling page explains the confirmed scaling options.
How much RAM and VRAM do you need?
The high-end Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing tier doubles the recommended system memory from 16 GB to 32 GB and doubles listed video memory from 8 GB to 16 GB. Those are significant jumps and make memory part of the ray tracing requirement, not only the GPU model.
If a system has the named GPU but only 16 GB of system RAM, it does not match the full published ray tracing specification.
Ray tracing and the 90 FPS recommended tier
The recommended tier is separately positioned around 90 FPS Multiplayer at High settings. The Modern Warfare 4 90 FPS guide should be used for that target instead of assuming the ray tracing tier is simply a faster version of the same preset.
Players deciding between frame rate and ray-traced visuals should use the built-in benchmark after launch. Activision says the tool reports average FPS and hardware information and provides setting suggestions after its simulated Multiplayer run.
Drivers and security still apply
Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing does not remove the other launch requirements. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory, and the game needs DirectX 12 plus broadband internet. The Modern Warfare 4 Secure Boot guide covers those platform checks.
Activision recommends NVIDIA driver 616.56 and AMD 26.7.1 in the September 29 specification table. Driver guidance can change close to launch, so use the latest official PC article if a newer recommended version appears.
Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing is now based on final launch information rather than beta estimates. Check the exact requirement or feature that matters to your setup, then use the linked Modern Warfare 4 guides for the wider launch, multiplayer or DMZ context instead of mixing separate systems together.
For Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing, high-quality 4K upscaled is the named target, not a statement that every ray-traced setting must be enabled on every system. The final menu can still let players trade individual effects against frame rate.
The 16 GB VRAM line makes Modern Warfare 4 Ray Tracing a clearly separate workload from the 8 GB recommended tier. That memory difference is as important to the published target as the jump from RTX 3060 Ti to RTX 5070 Ti.
