Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 returns on October 15, giving endgame crews Thursday through Monday to tackle the frozen UESC ship. It is the first reopening under Bungie’s Nightfall Refresh schedule, which extends the activity by one additional day each week.

You’ll need to prepare before dropping in. The ship’s security clearance, vault keys and hostile crews make it far more demanding than an ordinary extraction, and the October progression reset means checking your access again is important.

October 15 reopening

Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 opens again on Thursday, October 15. Bungie confirmed the date following confusion about the earlier calendar. The roadmap does not state a guaranteed UK unlock hour, so don’t take a midnight countdown as official. Check the Cryo activity card when the Thursday rotation goes live.

The new five-day weekly window

The ship is accessible Thursday through Monday, replacing the former Thursday-to-Sunday pattern. The first announced window is October 15–19, followed by October 22–26 and October 29–November 2. Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 therefore gives squads an extra Monday to finish vault attempts. The calendar describes access days, not the exact minute the queue opens or closes.

Requirements before entering

Bungie’s original Cryo entry guide specifies Runner Level 25, access to all six factions through liaison contracts and equipped gear worth at least 5,000 credits. The ship is designed around three-person teams, with fill matchmaking available if you enter alone. Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 follows the Nightfall Refresh wipe, so recheck your current Runner level and the entry requirements in the game rather than assuming September progression is still intact.

What makes the ship different

Cryo Archive is an endgame environment aboard the UESC Marathon, divided into six connected wings around a hub. You build Security Clearance within a run to reach secured areas and extraction routes. Enemy Runners and UESC combatants can threaten you at the same time. The ship isn’t a relaxed exploration map, and opening a valuable room doesn’t mean you’ll get out with the contents.

Vault keys and loot

There are seven Vaults with their own conditions and rewards. High-rarity equipment, valuable materials and unique gold weapons make them worth the risk. Bungie’s October patch redistributed Unique Weapons between Vaults 1–6, so older loot-location advice may now be inaccurate. Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 is a chance to revisit those rewards, but Bungie hasn’t supplied a complete new per-vault item table in the patch notes.

Contracts and Codex rewards

CyberAcme previously offered seven Cryo-specific contract options while the activity was open, including a way to reroll your active task so squadmates could coordinate. The activity also tracks Codex progress and shell cosmetics. The weekly contract refresh is different from the broader Nightfall wipe. If you’re chasing a particular cosmetic, check the current Codex entry before assuming the item is a random vault drop.

Compiler boss attempts

The Compiler is the major endgame encounter, reached after dealing with Cryo’s security systems and difficult opposition. A squad that wants the kill should arrive with reliable weapons, healing and a plan for getting out. Bungie’s 1.1.9.2 notes also address a Codex-credit problem involving large groups killing the Compiler. Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 doesn’t guarantee a clean boss encounter: rival crews remain a threat.

Sponsored Queues versus Cryo

Sponsored Perimeter, Marsh and Night Marsh are separate playlists with a three-week rotation. They now share the Thursday-to-Monday timetable, but entering Sponsored Marsh does not automatically place you in Cryo Archive. The sponsored queue offers a supplied starting kit; Cryo’s entry rules and high-value loadout risk are different. The separate Vault Breaker event also returns later in the Nightfall calendar.

Best preparation before Thursday

Rebuild your progression after the October 6 reset, unlock the needed faction access and set aside a loadout that satisfies the gear threshold. Agree with your team whether your priority is a particular Vault, contract or the Compiler. Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 is much easier to plan when everyone understands the extraction route and doesn’t waste valuable ammunition on the way to the objective.

If you’re planning Marathon Cryo Archive October 2026 with friends, choose your target Vault and loadout before the queue opens, not while another crew is closing in.
