It is that time again, the first details for the next Call of Duty game have been revealed and it has been confirmed that the next entry in the first-person shooter military franchise is Modern Warfare 2.
In a tweet, Activision revealed the name and logo of the next Call of Duty game saying “The new era of Call of Duty is coming.”
Check out the official logo for Modern Warfare 2 below, with it using Roman numerals rather than a regular 2, however, the official hashtag is #ModernWarfare2 so it is likely that will be how it is referred as despite the logo.
Despite being called Modern Warfare 2, this isn’t a remake or remaster of the 2009 game of the same name. A remastered version of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in 2020.
Instead, this is a sequel to the 2019 reboot of the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. As of right now, no official details or trailers have been released by Activision but we can expect to see them over the coming weeks and months.

However, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed some potential secrets hidden in the short trailer. Tom Henderson, a prominent leaker in the Call of Duty community, noted that there may be some coordinates that can be seen in the trailer, with them pointing to Singapore if correct.
This could point to the primary location of Modern Warfare 2, although this is something we will find out as more news is released on the game. The previous Modern Warfare game centered around the UK.
The latest entry in the Call of Duty series, Vanguard, was released in late-2021 and took the series back to World War 2, with many weapons carrying over to Warzone which certainly shook up the game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released in either October or November 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
