The competition in the gaming community gets tighter as October 2022 unveils a list of new titles, installments, and crossover that players can enjoy.
The new month is ushering in a string of games that will keep everyone glued to their monitors and devices. They cater to all genres; survival co-op games, first-person shooting games, turn-based games, and more. Trimming down which titles would best suit your gaming needs won’t just be time-consuming, it’s also draining for your wallet.
We have gone through the list of new and upcoming games so you won’t have to. Here are the best 15 games coming out this October 2022.
Overwatch 2 – October 4, 2022 (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch)
The recently released Overwatch 2 is steering the wheel as it moves in the free-to-play genre. This installment from Blizzard rewards loyal players of the original by rewarding them with a FREE Founder’s Pack.
For those who are just jumping into the game, you won’t be falling behind. Putting veterans and newcomers on equal footing, all players of the first-person shooting game need to play 100 matches to unlock all 32 of the original heroes.
Aside from the original roster, the game also boasts three new characters; Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko. It also veered to more MOBA-ish gameplay as now, there are five players per side, with only one dedicated tank slot in a game about controlling objectives.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers – October 14th (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch)
This upcoming installment of the Dragonball series brings a spin to the beloved anime as it ventures into the survival co-op genre. The game pits seven survivors against a “Raider”, the primary antagonist.
If a player chooses to be a survivor, they will play as an ordinary citizen that gets stranded in a Temporal Seam. The goal of every survivor is to break out from the Temporal Seam through the Super Time Machine. Survivors are given the option to either work as a team or venture into finding the Super Time Machine alone.
Players who choose to be a Raider can pick from any of the three iconic antagonists of the anime, Cell, Buu, and Frieza. Successfully hunting survivors grant the Raider the power of evolution that comes with a variety of boosts.
NHL 23 – October 14th (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
Hitting the puck this month is NHL 23. This installment of the hit sports game features the Canadian goal-scoring machine, Sarah Nurse. She made history as the first female player featured on an NHL cover. The game is also breaking history by making the first cross-platform matchmaking in NHL history. This game update later this year will pit Xbox players against PlayStation users as they battle for supremacy as the Ultimate Team.
The Ultimate Team lets player build their dream roster as the game introduces mixed women’s and men’s teams.
The gameplay is getting an upgrade with new Stumble Actions, Loose Puck Plays, and Enhanced Goalie AI as you push to get those highlight reels. There is also the addition of all-new celebration options from the Stanley Cup, On-ice projections for NHL teams, and more, even in offline modes.

PGA Tour 2K23 – October 14th (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
PGA TOUR 2K23 gives players who pre-order the game three options; the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Tiger Woods Edition.
Those who opt to get the Standard Edition will also get the Michael Jordan Bonus Pack and play as MJ from day one. Aside from getting Michael Jordan as a playable character, you will also get 4 Common golf ball sleeves. It’s not just MJ that’s bringing the game from NBA to PGA. PGA Tour 2K23 also announced that Steph Curry will also be a playable character in their new edition of the famous golf video game.
Aside from the famous crossovers, you can also play as the elite talents of the golfing scene with Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, and more. For those who want to build their characters, you can also build your ideal golfer with a string of new Archetypes and five new Skills to customize your MyPLAYER’s area of expertise.
A Plague Tale: Requiem – October 18th (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch)
This upcoming action-adventure stealth video game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment is a sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence. The game will also be on Xbox Game Pass on day 1.
The game is about two siblings, Amicia and Hugo de Rune, who journeys to perilous Southern France as they find a cure for Hugo’s blood disease. The game’s primary antagonists are the Inquisition and a throng of rats as carriers of the black plague. From a third-person perspective, the player takes control of Amicia, who is equipped with weapons such as a knife used for stabbing, a sling for throwing rocks, and a crossbow for ranged attacks.
There have been upgrades done to the game as Asobo Studio attempts to improve the gameplay of the title. Stealth has been expanded, players do not die after being hit once, and Amicia can go back to stealth mode after she is discovered by the enemies. Hugo also becomes a vital part of the game as he is given new abilities like “Echo”, which allows players to know the location of nearby enemies, even those behind a wall. He can also take control of the hordes of rats, an ability that players can use to their advantage when backed in a corner.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed – October 18th (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a survival co-op action game based on the Ghostbusters multimedia franchise. One of the game’s biggest flex is the game’s voice actors like Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore and Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz.
In this game, players can choose to be part of the Ghostbusters team of four or a customized ghost that haunts the protagonists. The game uses a first-person shooter perspective for more immersive gameplay for both the Ghostbuster players and those who choose to play as the ghost.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will feature cross-play between PS4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection – October 19th (PC)
According to a recent post from PlayStation Blog, “This version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is optimized for PC with PC-centric quality-of-life enhancements such as reimagined UI, scale sliders, GPU and VRAM detection, Variable Load Speed, and so much more.”
The game also boasts a more immersive gameplay experience for fans of the Uncharted franchise as the storytelling and breathtaking visuals of the game take on super-sharp true 4K resolutions. The game has always been known for its picturesque settings. This time, everyone with the right equipment will get to delve into the deep green jungle, unravel the secrets of the marsh and swamplands, and road trip to mountaintops. These and more are seen through Ultra-Wide Monitor support.
The game will be available on both Steam and Epic Games.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – October 20th (Nintendo Switch)
Making a crossover between Nintendo’s Mario and Ubisoft’s Rabbids franchises is Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. This upcoming action-adventure turn-based strategy game gives players the chance to build their roster from nine well-known classics and newcomers like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Mario, Edge, Rabbid Rosalina, and Bowser.
Rabbids will enjoy a feature that in this installment, Rabbids will be fully voiced for the first time. The game design also spins the usual turn-based tactical combat gameplay by adding enemy encounters that can happen outside of turn-based combats. It adds a sense of realness with player movements not limited to the first game’s grid-based layout.
In the future, those who purchase the game will also get three downloadable content expansions via a season pass from Nintendo Switch. One of the new features of the upcoming downloadable content expansions is Rayman as a playable character.
Gotham Knights – October 21st (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S)
Gotham Knights is an upcoming action role-playing game set in an open-world Gotham City after the deaths of Bruce Wayne/Batman and Police Commissioner James Gordon. Their demise brought Gotham City into the claws of crime and lawlessness as the four playable characters avenged the death of their loved ones.
Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Barbara Gordon /Batgirl, Tim Drake/Robin, and Jason Todd/Red Hood are the game’s four playable characters. The game also features a string of supervillains, including Mr. Freeze, Harley Quin, Clayface, and Penguin.
The game uses scaled leveling; as the player gains a level, so will the enemies. The game can be played solo or as a two-player cooperative multiplayer mode. The game features an array of exclusive skins, weapons, and armor for each character that players can customize.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force – October 27th (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
From the legendary developer, Square Enix comes another masterpiece in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. This upcoming action role-playing game was developed by tri-Ace.
The game follows the adventures of Raymond Lawrence after his spaceship is attacked by the Pangalactic Federation, and it inevitably crashes on the planet of Princess Laeticia. Together, they will go on a journey to bring peace to their nation against an invading empire.
Resident Evil Village – October 28th (Nintendo Switch)
Resident Evil Village on Nintendo Switch will be a cloud version. This means that the game will be highly dependent on both the speed and the stability of your internet connection. The main reason for this is because of the limited storage capacity of the console for the entire game, including its DLC.
For those who may be doubting the capacity of their internet connection, a free demo is available to download on the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo also revealed that the Winter’s Expansion of the game will be available on Switch by December 2, 2022.

Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition with Winter’s Expansion and RE:Verse – October 28th (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
For those itching to get their hands on more Resident Evil Village content, this game is for you. There will be two expansions with various DLC for the Resident Evil community to enjoy. One of the game’s biggest features is adding a third-person mode for better gameplay.
The Gold Edition will include a variety of DLC, like Winters’ Expansion additional content, Trauma Pack, and the Resident Evil Re: Verse online game.
The Winters’ Expansion pack will have three major DLC. This includes a continuation of the story involving the Winters’ family(a story about Ethan’s daughter Rose) and a string of new mercenaries of Lady Dimitrescu. Resident Evil Re:Verse, is an online exclusive multiplayer game. In this mode, you get to play as your favorite character in the Resident Evil series as you battle it out in a fight-to-the-death online arena. This will be available for free for players who have purchased either Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.
Bayonetta 3 – October 28th (Nintendo Switch)
This much-anticipated installment to the Bayonetta franchise is coming as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. The unforgettable elements of the game, such as Witch Time, Torture Attacks, and Wicked Weaves, will all be coming back to Bayonetta 3.
Although there has been minimal information released about the story of the new Bayonetta installment, the official Bayonetta 3 website did mention that “Mysterious life forms appearing to be neither angel nor demon attack amid the ravaged streets of the Shibuya area of Tokyo, where Bayonetta then makes a graceful appearance. Why is she in Tokyo? And how far-reaching is the invasion of this new enemy?“

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – October 28th (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
The classic first-person shooting genre is dropping its latest installment with full cross-play, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The game is making waves even before its official release as it will offer early access to its campaign.
Players who digitally preorder Modern Warfare 2 will get early access to the game’s campaign mode starting on October 20, a week before the game’s actual release. In addition to the early access reward, the game also offers some instant unlocks for Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Lastly, after pre-purchasing a digital copy of Modern Warfare 2, players will also get the Final Judgment bundle and Khaled Al-Asad operator bundle.
It has been confirmed that even after Activision’s exclusive partnership with Sony, Modern Warfare 2 will support cross-play across all platforms.
